Well, its like this! I am now back in Spain, Salamanca to be precise, and have less than five weeks of my journey to go before I return to the UK. That means this is likely to be my penultimate entry. I am homeward bound. Portugal has been a magical place for me. Starting in Beja, a town near the middle of the country, surrounded by flat lands and cork plantations. I then moved south east to Monte Gordo, on the Algarve and worked my way west to Faro. Here I picked up an old friend (Ken) from the airport and we travelled to the small town of Luz, for a week of luxury in an appartment owned by a good friend of mine (thanks Tony, much appreciated). From there, we travelled around the rest of ... read more

7-19 March It´s one more time in the kitchen at the meditation center, again as kitchen manager (the pay hasn´t increased though). I would have preferred to sit the course as a student this time, but I primarily volunteered for a third tour of duty so that Carlos, the center manager, could have a chance to sit a course. Carlos has been volunteering to work as the center manager since the start of the year and will continue in this capacity until June. He is always extremely nice and helpful and has such a good sense of humor and positivity to him that it was impossible not to work so he could have this chance. (In the anniversary entry Carlos is the nearly bald man in the picture). This time the work did start to take ... read more

Europe » Spain » Valencian Community » Valencia March 18th 2007

After renting our sweet Opel, Jose, Sam, Amy, Camille, Lesley, and I jumped in and took off towards Valencia. Four deep in the back seat, Jose at the wheel, co-pilot Mr. Bader, and a few bottles of wine for the ride got us to Valencia in a couple hours. After arriving we walked towards the festivals center and drank, had some tequila, had the best kebab to date… French fries and a healthy portion of that meat makes the ideal kebab. (O’well I’m making this one short). Valencia’s Las Fallas is too spread out… party to party is cool, but when you want to hang out in a central bar area… you just cannot. We partied for a while, watched a band play, and took off around 4am… we were all virtually sober. I drove the ... read more

Righto, so I went to select Vic and strangely enough it wasn't listed!! This was our idea to go against the bible (Lonely Planet) and pick somewhere that it really didn't say much about... we loved it!! As I mentioned in a previous email, our first accommodation there was pretty stinky and scary... we decided to leave early that morning for fear of disease! The next place we stayed in was a lovely hotel, although a tad more expensive!! Who cares, if you had to stay in that yucky whole you would too!!! Anyway, enough dribble... enjoy the pics!!... read more

I've now moved down to Valencia for the Las Fallas Festival and staying with Will Tay in luxury living but I'll just recap the few days in Barcelona. Barcelona I got to a point where I got to see most of the city and actually get to know it really well as I was there for 7 days all up. I met so many awesome people including many Americans on their spring break. I also met this very nice Polish girl called Monika and so we hung out for a few days, and during this time she convinced me to go bungy jumping. Now when I rung up the place and booked it, it seemed like a professional outfit so was happy to go along with it. So we took a small train ride out of ... read more

After much ado, Sage has officially agreed to marry me. So get ready. We're thinking early August 2008 in upstate New York and we want you there. I'm too tired to think, but there will be more details soon. By the way, it's nearly impossible to capture this ring on camera, but it's casual, yet elegant and unique. Can you see the hammering and brushed texture? A sweet man in Malaga made it for me and it fits! ... read more
