Woke up to rain that had been falling although the night, staying wrapped up we mooched in bed listening and looking at the rain thundering on the sun roof. Both engrossed in our respective books and being very lazy. Then a major decision against all odds Matt declared he was going to enter the Norwegian Paragliding Competition. Off we set to Piedrahita to register. This is all new to Matt his first ever competition oh the ums and ha’s. The organizer of the event senesced a little indecisiveness and came all trumps giving Matt until 6pm to make a final decision. Rain now dispersing we decided a road trip was in order to a town call Salvatierra De Tomes. We chose this location as it was situated on a lake side. It took us 45 ... read more

Hi everyone, Well today we went to midday Mass so that really is the end of our Camino. There were seven priests on the altar and the church was packed when we arrived at 11.30 however, I was fortunate to get a kneeler and no seat but that was ok. Of course the Mass was all in Spanish but one of the priests was Americian and he spoke a little. The cathedral is very beautiful and later today we will go and have a good look at it and hopefully the crowds will have gone. The city is very popular with tourists and being the weekend everywhere has been very busy. We had a wonderful time last night with the Kiwi contingent. I returned to our room soon after midday and Marian was a few hours ... read more

Buenos dias de Catalunya! It has been soo sunny and perfect here all week, so I guess it's only fair that it's a little dreary today. Tuesday we had a welcome party at a tapas bar called Milk. The tapas were delicious!! We had shrimp in peanut sauce, quesadillas, cheeses, smoked salmon on baguettes...perfecto! The days have started to go by really fast...class, eat, sleep on beach, eat, go out, class, explore the city... I missed out on seeing the Dali museum this morning, but Jason says there is one in St. Petersburg so I don't feel TOO bad about sleeping in. (even though the two are surely quite different) Last night we went on a tour of the city. We got to take pictures from a panoramic viewpoint above the harbor (you could see ... read more

Hola from Barcelona! I got here this morning after taking the night train from Paris. That was a pretty cool experience, a little cramped but not too bad, and much better than sitting through a 10 hour trip during the day. I already love Spain and Barcelona, I think somewhat speaking and understanding the language helps a lot. The country is beautiful too, we rode past some of the coast on the way in and it was amazing. My hostel is right in Plaza Real, off of Las Ramblas, which is the major stretch in Barcelona. Its lined with flower stands and vendors and tapas restaurants. I really enjoyed Paris and will definitely go back, but I think I fit in Spain better. As for Paris, I think I crammed as much in to 2 days ... read more

Naverette-Najera 18.5 km.

A week in Roquetas and we sailed on to America’s Cup! We enjoyed another fabulous week at Comunicacion, the wonderful language school in Roquetas de Mar. Tommy graduated to adult classes while Ryan, Keenan and I continued with private lessons. I think I finally have a grasp on those 4 past verb tenses, only to find myself leaving Spain! We all have made a lot of progress on our Spanish and hope to find some meaningful way to keep it up when we return. We had some good hang out time with our friends Graeme, Sarah, Leo and Sophie during out last week. As an added bonus, we were joined by Sarah’s parents and sister for some fun happy hours and dinners on the beach. Sarah’s parents were a great addition to our conversation, as ... read more
