Hola from Espana! Well, what can I say? It is unbelievably hot here and of course air conditioning is not so popular. I think it just hit me yesterday when I arrived that I am going to be gone for so long and for a second there I almost fricked out. The apartment is a 10 minute walk from the school. I have 5 roomates, 3 from Sweden and 2 from Germany. I have a feeling that I'll learn more Swedish than Spanish, because the language school is what they call here under "Swedish Invasion". Funny to say, but I'm learning a lot about Swedish culture. Yesterday me and my roomates went out to plaza Espana, there was a beautiful fountain show and then we went to a cafe in Las Ramblas where I had tapas ... read more

Our trip to Barcelona was amazing. We were there for only 5 days but it was enough to fall in love with the city. Barcelona has it all. Nice weather, people, food, beautiful beaches, gardens, parks, monuments… oh, Gaudi was a genious and chose the right city to leave all his contributions. Gaudi & Barcelona are a perfect combination. We stayed in a hotel in the centre of Barcelona and walked to most of the places. Public transport was easy and inexpensive. La Sagrada familia is breathtaking and must be seen. Our friends, Candice and Javier’s family invited us for a typical Catalan dinner. It was delicious and unforgettable. Miss you all.... read more

Today was our full day in Barcelona. We had another early wakeup but not as early as some of the other days. Colin was going to lead a morning walk tour through the Gothic Quarter. Since last night was a big night for some, the turnout this morning wasn't too big as only about 10 of us showed up. We walked down to the Ramblas and headed into the Gothic Quarter which is the oldest part of the city. One of the first things I noticed was the plethora of bakeries with the sweet smell of pastries, bread, and other treats that filled the air. There was a lot of activity going on in the Gothic Quarter. One memorable sight was 5 women walking down the street in traditional Flamenco attire. The Gothic Quarter was ... read more

Another early morning wake up this morning as we headed towards Barcelona. By mid-morning we had arrived in Pamplona to have a quick look around. We walked the narrow streets where every July they hold the famous running of the bulls. The streets are barricaded and lined with thousands of people who watch brave, if not crazy people, risk their lives being chased by bulls. We walked down some of the streets where the bulls run. They were mostly lined with tourist shops that sold every imaginable kind of bull related trinket. There was nothing too exciting here, just more shops like they have in every other city. Just knowing that this is where that famous annual event takes place was the real significance. We continued our walk to the stadium where the bull running ... read more

On my Switzerland I made a stop in the town of Figueres near the French border. This town is a real dive with one amazing site: the Dali muesum. Designed by the artist himself it's nothing like a mueseum and is more like a Surrealist playground. There tons of surrealist objects, hidden rooms, holograms etc. There is the Mae West apartment and a car suspended by chains filled with sea uchins. ... read more

Barecelona has some great stuff to do. I saw the sagrada familia, this cathedral although unfinished may be my favorite in Europe. I definately have noticed alot more is done since i was here 3 years ago. Hopefully they´ll finish it on time (50 years) so i can visit it when i´m 74. There´s always something going in the streets at any hour. i´ve seen people playing piano on the streets, flamanco dancers, rock bands, people in costumes..you name it. it´s a good way to see stuff. my hostel is on a really great square with wild stuff going on like people in foutains. The picassco muesum was inspiring to me as an artist..it made me really want to start working on music again, but i´m sure this trip will have lots of inspiration. Let´s see yesterday ... read more

I’m backlogging some of my previous travels in Europe from when I was in high school and college. They won’t contain much information as it was a while ago, but I would be more than happy to share my experiences with anyone who has a question. Wow. Barcelona is simply crazy. I spent a few days visiting a friend here; I didn’t go to bed before sunrise and didn’t get up until after 2:00 pm. It is a city that goes all-night and amazing. Loved the architecture; Gaudy is amazing. Just a great place to wander around and enjoy. ... read more
