Tag 12 – Pflanzprojekt Heute bekamen Namid und ich ein eigenes Projekt – pflanzen. Als erstes sollten sechs Kürbisse eingepflanzt werden. Wir suchten eine geeignete Ecke aus und zeichneten die Pflanzenstandorte ein. Namid buddelte die Löcher, und ich holte mit der Schubkarre Komposterde, die wir in die Erde mischten. Daraufhin wurden die Pflänzchen ein einen kleinen Krater eingepflanzt, angegossen, mit Mulch angehäufelt und vorrübergehend mit ihrem ehemaligen Topf als Sonnenschutz versehen. Nach den Kürbissen pflanzten wir noch Zucchini („Courgets, wie Namid neu lernte) und Kohl. Für den Kohl holten wir zusätzlich noch Steine und legten sie im Kreis um die Pflanzen. So verbrachten wir den ganzen Vormittag mit unserem Pflanzprojekt, das war doch deutlich entspannter und abwechslungsreicher als das Unkrautjäten, und heute war es auch nicht ganz so heiß. Tag 10 – Ein Reisetag mit Hindernissen Um halb acht wurde ich an den Füßen gekitzelt. Namid war schon wach geworden, hatte bereits geduscht und wollte jetzt schon frühstücken oder so. Ehm, wieso das denn? Wir hatte gerade mal fünf Stunden geschlafen und das Frühstück war doch bekanntlicherweise erst ab halb neun. Naja, aber wenn ich jetzt sowieso schon wach war, konnten wir auch schon rausgehen und der Pflanzen-WG ein besseres Zuhause schaffen. So gingen wir in den Jardim São Pedro de Alcântara, der direkt gegenüber des Hostels lag. Namid füllte etwas Erde aus dem Beet in den leeren Stracciatella-Joghurtbecher, den wir genau für diesen Zweck gekauft hatten. This is quite a long post, more than 600 words and 40 pictures, so if you are too busy to read it or look at all the pictures, I totally understand. In Seville we suffered from monument fatigue so we didn't go to any. Religious shops sold naked baby Jesus, which you can dress yourself. The saints and Mary came with elegantly detailed extremities but a wire frame torso and an extensive and expensive wardrobe. But the real magic and the reason we returned to Seville was the Flamenco. It is passionate and powerful. When the gypsies arrived in Andalusia from India round 1425, they brought the precursor of flamenco. There are musicians, singers, dancers and 'hell raisers'. Today was all about the Lagos coastline from the Marina de Lagos to Ponta da Piedade to Prado do Porto de Mos at sea level by small open boat in the morning and at cliff height by foot in the afternoon. By the end it turned out to be very tiring for both of us. The sun shone strong all day and by the time we had finished our boat exploration the wind had picked up and increased further during the afternoon. We were pleased that we had chosen to do the boat tour early. There were 3 crew, the skipper, a female trainee and an old local sea dog along for the ride and a couple from England and us. We passed through many small and a few not-so-small towns on our way to Lagos where will stay for two days. We booked our bus and accommodation the night before. Much cheaper. Live and learn or is it travel and learn? It was a gastronomic time for us today particularly 1 – 3.30pm. Absolutely gastronomic. Lagos is a beautiful place in southern Portugal’s Algarve region where the glorious beaches dominate. More of that tomorrow. The marina stands out in the town centre with yachts of all sizes moored and small motorized tenders ferrying tourists on various sea tours. From our brief stay so far we can see that Lagos is a lively town with numerous eateries and as the weather is sunshine tourists like ourselves are in our element.
