Hello, Excursia noasta a inceput, inevitabil, cu vesnica problema a bagajelor.

I have arrived in Warsaw at 10 o'clock. I checked into my hotel put my bags down and went out to check out the city. The city is nice some of the buildings are new but the others are older. I went to a lovely restaurant called Bistro Carino, They had very nice food and i liked it a lot. I also went to the Royal Castle. It was really cool and it is definitely a place I would visit again if I stayed longer. ... read more

Day 013, Thursday July 1 Our first stop in Poland was in Warsaw at night Wednesday June 29, the man we shared a cabin with on the train (we had to book seats, thus couldn’t exile ourselves from the world in our own cabin) went on and on about how great Krakow is, and how Warsaw was entirely not. When we arrived our first impression was a gorgeous bright sun peering over the spires of an incredibly HUGE complex, apparently this place holds a cinema, a stage for musical productions, a shopping complex, a church, everything all extending out from this one towering center. We arrived a very late in the day as our train was late by an hour and a half, just the start of consistently late schedule for everything we participated in during ... read more

Day 012, Wednesday June 29 Got up too early, not in a sense that we had time on our hands, we were rushed all day, but rather we didn’t get to sleep until late and had to wake up at 6:30 and be out by 7:00 in order to make our train at 7:30. Thus, as I didn't want to be up at that time, due to lack of sleep, it was too early. We made our train without issue and settled in, got to go on a ferry again, good times. Now, we were supposed to arrive in Berlin at 14:27 and had to catch the connecting train at 14:41. 14 minutes, more than enough time to get off the platforms, find our next platform, find a post office to mail postcards, find a souvenir ... read more

We finally arrived at our beautiful old town hotel 24 hours after we planned thanks to 2 flight cancellations from LOT airlines resulting in an unscheduled night in Antwerp. So now we only had one afternoon and evening to enjoy in Warsaw, and it coincided with the exact timing that the President of the USA, Barack Obama, was in Warsaw. This meant that there was a massive police presence, the main thoroughfares, known as the Royal Way, were completely closed to traffic and the area around the presidential palace, where he was staying, was a media circus and difficult to get to. Our hotel was next to the Royal Castle, and the Castle Inn contained interesting decor. We stayed in the cartoon room, which was full of interesting artwork. Unfortunately the Royal Castle was closed due ... read more

We eventually did make it back into Poland, and somehow arrived 3 hours early - we almost didn’t want to get off because we thought this couldn’t possibly be our stop yet! It was a bit of a mission finding a bus to get to the hostel – it seems no buses go from the train station to the city centre – odd. The good news is, Clay also managed to get to Warsaw from Riga despite going to bed about 3 hours before his flight! We decided to have a drink at the hostel bar (with a 2 for 1 offer on, it would be rude not to) and we meet some Australians Kim and Ryan who also live in Europe. We planed to catch up with them for drinks later as we went out ... read more

Right, where was I before my new hectic London life rudely interrupted my travel blogging? Ah yes, I was last on a flight to Warsaw. Or Warszawa as the locals call it. I arrived in Warsaw with my sleep tank on empty, but my sense of adventure at full speed ahead. I find it exhilarating to arrive in a foreign city on my own, and I remember thinking I was quite the international man of mystery at the time; There probably wasn't a soul for miles who I had ever come into contact with in all my life! For all they knew I might as well be a professional hit man, or maybe a mega rich business tycoon on the job (though that illusion was ruined when I had to ask a stranger for some loose ... read more
