I think this is the first time that turning a year older made me a little sad. I suppose it is because as that special time of year rolls around you begin to ask yourself all of those important questions like: “What have I done with my life?” and “Where am I headed?” My only thought was I am that much closer to 30 and I admit it was a little depressing. I am not on the past of most my age (no husband - nor even a boyfriend, which actually I don't want one right now so I guess that is a blessing, no children - can't imagine having those either, no job - someday I really need one of those). But then I realized although I don’t know necessarily know where I will be ... read more

I ended the weekend with a nice day at the house of one of the girls that used to be in Jesus Revolution (Tara). Two guys from church picked me up and we drove about an hour to Tara’s house where Tara, her husband, and Talitha already were. We had a nice time playing cards, riding a mountain bike and we even had Oreos and mac & cheese (courtesy of Talitha’s mom back in Texas). Then after church we went and had pizza. It was a nice way to end the weekend.... read more

Sorry it has been so long since I’ve updated this blog or emailed anyone. As you can read in the above blogs I’ve been pretty busy. Thank you so much though for emailing me and making sure I didn’t fall off the face of the earth! I feel so loved! Right now I am sitting at a cozy candle lit café enjoying some coffee and wonderful jazz music as I write letters, update my blog and study God’s Word. What a wonderful day! I even got to sleep in! It is kind of dreary outside but it just adds to the cozy atmosphere. If you feel moved to pray for me I haven’t been able to sleep much lately so I would appreciate prayer so I can start falling asleep before midnight (especially since I have ... read more

Sometimes when I read God’s word I just get sucked in and it is as if it comes alive for me. So I want to share with you those verses that came alive for me today. “For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ our Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,’ made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. 2 Cor 4:5-7 “It is written, ‘I believed; therefore I have spoken.’ With that same spirit of faith we also believed and therefore speak, because ... read more

Yesterday one of the girls from our team (Karoline) had to go to the hospital. She has something wrong with her lungs. She got to the point where she couldn’t breath very well and it was very painful. Some of us girls went to see her in the hospital today during the dinner break. For some reason hospitals make me very uneasy, which is so silly because I’ve never had any bad experience in them. As we were sitting there talking to her and I was looking at the oxygen tank helping her to breath I felt like I was about to start crying so I excused myself to the bathroom. I don’t know why but seeing someone so young like that & even all the older people in the hospital really just saddened me. I’ve ... read more

We started teaching on Christian doctrines today. Most people see it as a dry subject but I am actually excited about it. I guess I will always be a student at heart. I really love studying (I didn’t realize how much so until now that I am here and I don’t have the time I used to, to just sit and study a subject for hours). I think I am going to start using either Saturdays or Sundays to just study, really study God’s Word (one hour a day is not even close to enough time for me). So here is a verse that caught my eye today as I was reading the Bible. “But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of ... read more

With “Army Week” over and since we didn’t get any days off this weekend we had off until 3 p.m. today. It was so cool because when I woke up it was SNOWING. It was snowing enough that the whole ground was white. I went to a bagel shop by myself for my PT and had a club sandwich on a bagel with some coffee then walked with a friend to do some shopping. It was just such a lovely day, so uplifting after a long week!... read more

It has been a very long week. In fact I am very tired, body and mind but I was uplifted when I looked out the window this morning and saw snow falling from the sky. It wasn’t much but it still was very beautiful. It was too warm for the snow to stick to the ground but it is supposed to snow more on Tuesday. The reason I am more tired than usual is because we had “Army Week.” “Army Week” is where all the Jesus Revolution Army Bases (France, Germany, and Hungary) come to the base in Oslo. There was about double the amount of people here and we danced six days this week. We had no days off so I keep just getting more and more tired, basically running on coffee. It is just ... read more

Dancing, dancing and more dancing! Our instructor encouraged me today, telling me how much she can tell I’ve improved since we first started dancing and that she sees a lot of potential in me. She commented on my posture and that she thinks that is why I dance well (it makes the moves look much prettier). I told her I owe my posture to my mother; she is the one who always got on to me when I was young to stand up straight. So thanks mom, you helped to prepare me for the day when I would graduate from law school, move to Europe and dance for Jesus! Today we had to practice doing head stands, hand stands, and making bridges (standing & then leaning backwards to put our hands on the ground and then ... read more

Yesterday kicked off Army Week. The house is now full of so many languages it makes my head spin. I don’t think I’ve even heard this many languages at once while waiting for a plane at Heathrow! We had a teaching today on “The World We Carry on the Inside.” We are the temple of God, God is not in a church building but in us. If you look at the Old Testament you can see that God was very careful with His temple. We have to understand what kind of life is required in the temple. Since I am really tired I’ll just share with you some key points. “It is not time for lukewarm Christianity but for radical burning fire Christianity - that is the only one that is worthy of carrying His name!” ... read more
