Th WHAM Music video last Christmas is a microcosm of 1980's society. A group of attractive, gelled up twenty somethings spend Christmas in a cabin in the mountains. They occupy their time wearing tacky sweaters, drinking cocktails and light beer, and holding each other by the fire. Not once in the video did a child enter the picture. To 1980's individualists, kids were the last thing on their minds at Christmas... My Christmas was spent in a terraced house in England with a group of moderately attractive twenty somethings. We occupied our time wearing tacky santa hats, drinking cocktails and light beer, and eating roast beef. To a group of teachers who spend every waking hour working with children, kids were the last thing on our minds at Christmas. This country is turning me into WHAM; ... read more

Her bor jeg! http://www.travelblog.org/gmaps/map_w1.html ... read more

Many things have been happening in these last few weeks before we have Christmas break. Lots of dancing, lots of booking (pray for this one please - we don't have a fully booked concert schedule yet), and lots of praying. This past Sunday we had a performance of 5 of the 12 songs from the concert concept we will be doing starting in January. I was only in one of the dances on Sunday because it was a combination of all three concert teams. The dance I had to do is one which requires me to do a backbend, something I had not even attempted to do before I arrived here. Even though the countings flew out of my head when I looked out and saw an audience staring back at me, thankfully I was still ... read more

My cousin, Shannon got married yesterday! It is so crazy to think she is now a married woman. I almost feel too independent to ever make that kind of commitment in my life. I know God will change that in me when the time comes but right now that desire is just not there. Although I must admit yesterday when I was reading at a coffee shop/bakery a husband and wife with their adorable daughter spending a relaxing morning together caught my eye. It was actually the little girl who caught my eye. I didn’t really think I had any sort of maternal instinct or whatever inside but for a brief moment something flickered inside of me. I am sure my mother, while reading that last statement, just took a sigh of relief! Someday perhaps, but ... read more

I went running for the first time in the snow. Bobbi Jo and I woke up at 5:30 for a quick “wake me up” jog and were greeted by a white ground and soft snow flurries. It really wasn’t as cold as I thought it was and I enjoyed starting my day off with surrounded my such beauty. Friday night when we (Beat, Karoline, Kaspars B & myself) went out evangelizing and as usual it was hard getting started. I don’t know why it is still so difficult to just begin a conversation. I tried just smiling at people and saying hi but Norwegians don’t make much eye contact when they pass people on the street so it wasn’t working. Finally I prayed for God to help us get over this barrier we were creating and ... read more

Time here is quickly diminishing, so we are trying harder to come together as a team since we will be out on our own very soon. There are some people I am somewhat comfortable around but there are others I can tell it will take more time and effort before I can say I really know them. I think the most important thing to remember is why we are all here, to remember we all have the same purpose and that is for the youth of Europe to know Jesus. I remember that before I started law school I thought things were black and white. I still think there is definitely a right and wrong but because of people (not everyone is as easy to understand as I am  ) things start to get complicated. ... read more

When you put all your faith in what you believe and liveit out, it forces you to examine more closely to discover what it is exactly that you believe. In the hall the other day, in passing one of the guys said to me, “I just realized something, if what we believe is wrong I’m wasting my whole life. But if we are right, we are doing the greatest thing we could possibly be doing with our lives.” I’ve been thinking the same thing. We are basically going against the old saying of “not putting all your eggs in one basket.” We are putting all our hope in Jesus. Thankfully we do know we are right. But the solid resolve we have in our hearts is not enough when we know we are called to share ... read more

Since there are eleven Americans here at the Oslo base the found of Jesus Revolution invited all of us to his family’s home to celebrate Thanksgiving. We all pitched in to create a wonderful Thanksgiving feast. It wasn’t the same as being with family but it was incredibly nice and I am so thankful we were able to come together to celebrate. There was also a family there who had just moved to Oslo from somewhere in the States. I really enjoy watching Christian families and seeing how they interact. The father came late because of work and when the three children heard their father was there they all ran to the door to great them. He swept each of them up into his arms giving them a big hug and kiss. It was just so ... read more
