Happy Sunday everyone, Apologies for no blog last weekend, but since I've returned to Italy I've pretty much been housebound with the flu, so nothing very exciting to report. I did however, have my very 1st trip to the Italian A&E, because this flu was making me very sick and weak. My friend from school very kindly took me as the family were away and we managed to find some nice doctors who spoke English. After asking me 80 times if I was pregnant and an ultrasound later, they had come to the conclusion I wasn't pregnant (because apparently if you're female, over 18 years of age and throwing up, that's the only thing that can possibly be wrong with you)! Luckily I had my E111 card so this little excursion was freeeeee! Feeling a lot ... read more

Hey ho it's Christmasssss (well nearly anyway), This is the last blog I'll be posting this year, because I'm off to London on Thursday follwed by Hong Kong on Sunday and I won't be back until late New Year's Eve. So I thought I would fill this one full of Xmas cheer, seen as how not much has been happening anyway. (Take a look at the tree it's pretty classy!) Last week we had a lot of snow here. The first day it snowed I spent the afternoon running around the garden/massive field with the kids and dogs. The dogs went crazy, trying to eat all the snow. We had a snowball fight and made snow angels, getting all Christmassy now!! On Sunday the uncle, his wife and daughter took my kids and I out for ... read more

Greetings from snowy Italy, Once again I'm home alone, as the family have gone to Switzerland for the weekend. I was supposed to have gone with them, but there wasn't enough beds (last one in, first one out)! Never fear, I have made the most of my weekend of freedom, by filling it with more festive treats then you can shake a stick at (never fully understood that expression). Yesterday afternoon I went with my friend from school and the sister of her boyfriend to buy a Christmas tree for her house, followed by hot chocolate and pizza! Today six of us (4 adults and 2 bambini) went to Levico to have a walk around the Christmas market. We tried hot red wine with coffee in (blurgh), this weird waffley thing (yum) and saw glass blowing! ... read more

Buona Sera Beauties, Another week has passed, filled with more European craziness. Actually thought I was going to implode yesterday I was so mad, got woken up by the mum at 9.30am telling me how to make pasta and then the day just got generally worse from there. Okay, I know I'm retarded but even my cat knows how to make pasta!! Today though was better, I embarked on the annual 4km family fun run, in the rain, dressed as Father Christmas along with 800 other randoms! (If you think I'm joking, i've got the pics to prove it). Wasn't too bad actually (because we walked most of it, using the kids as an excuse) and the course was through the back-streets of Pedavena so got to see some more of the area where I live. ... read more

The name's Owen, Sophia Owen... Oh yes I saw Daniel Craig this week, I mean the new James Bond film. It was my first experience of Italian cinema and I am pleased to report that I understood most of it. Awesome film, but definately needs more scenes of Daniel Craig naked. Also the film being set in London, in no way aided my home sickness. The man sitting behind my friend and I must have heard us speaking in English, because randomly half-way through the film he leaned forward and whispered "what is the meaning of 'sky fall' in Italian?" So we rougly tried to translate it for him, which resulted in "cielo fall down" (always got my career as an International interpretor to fall back on I suppose!). Then several minutes later he leaned forward ... read more

Happy Halloween everyone (yes I know it's a few days late), Hope you all had a spook-tacular time! Not a lot going on this week to be honest, my family are in Spain (as it's a Public Holiday here) so I've been home alone since Wednesday and they return tonight. Been adopted by one of the uncle's families while they've been away, spent one afternoon with the kids making pictures and Halloween costumes for their toys and another one doing a fashion show. I'll tell you something, there is nothing nicer then sitting in front of an open fire with a sleeping baby on your lap! Awww... The first night I stayed here alone I must admit I was a bit freaked out, this is literally a house where no one can hear you scream, it's ... read more

Hello tutti, Can't believe that today marks a month of my stay here in Pedavena. Had a nice relaxing afternoon off on Tuesday, was going to meet my friend from school but she had the flu so I decided to walk into Feltre by myself. 45 minutes later (still don't understand how it took so long when it's only ten minutes by car) and I was sitting outside a patisserie with my slice of cake and glass of coke watching the world go by, bliss! Had a pretty awesome weekend to be honest, yesterday (Saturday) I spent the afternoon in Treviso with the mum and daughter. We went shopping in the centre and then to a friends house for dinner, they had two crazy but very adorable kids. The little boy I played James Bond with ... read more

Ciao again, Almost another week has passed in Feltre, so thought I'd show you guys my pictures from the Ski Roll competition last Sunday. Actually the craziest thing I've ever seen! It's basically a cross between skiing and roller blading, but up a mountain. I had a fantastic view, sat in the boot of some random persons car with the door open (as you do), and the competitiors chased us up hill. At the end everyone had a massive sit down lunch together, which was good times. I'm totally loving the perks of working for a family who own a sports equipment company, so far I've got a free jacket and a fleece and I've not even been here two weeks yet. Keep them coming please!! The Polish girl in my class has kindly been taking ... read more

Good morning everyone, Well I've been in Fetre for a week already and I've got to say it's gone quickly. I've included some pictures of the house and the dogs, so you can get an idea of where I'm living. The house is beautiful, it is a converted barn and they kept the original woodwork in the roof which I love. The house is in the middle of a field and is surrounded by beautiful views of the mountains. The only problem I've found so far is that being in the middle of nowhere I have to cycle everywhere. Getting into the centre of Feltre is easy as it's all downhill, but the way back is all uphill and I hate it (what I wouldn't do for a car right now)! I started school this week ... read more

17/10/05 - We left Mel to stop in at a small town 10kms up the road to see if we could try and locate my (Lorenza) grandfathers sister, Maria. We were given an address by an aunty who was a bit sketchy on the details but our previous hosts were able to correct the spelling and point us in the right direction. We get to the town, we find the street, and we find the house number. This is too easy or perhaps Aust. Post has actually taught us something. Alas our luck had run out or did it? There was nobody home so we decided to ask a lady passing if we had the correct house. With our very limited Italian the lady understood that we were from Australia and looking for a woman called ... read more
