On Friday I biked around Siena for a bit. Rode along the outside wall and to areas I hadn't gone before. I biked with Aisha (the nose blower, perpetual pisser and headache) and eventually abandoned her when she went to buy pizza. Funny thing though...I had placed her gigantic coat in my backpack, and inside the pocket of her coat was her wallet. Oops. I had a good laugh over it. It was fun...but I didn't like how I had to give the bike rental place my debit card number. They needed it in case I messed up the bike somehow. After I returned the bike, the woman crossed out my number, but it was not up to my standards. I would have set it on fire and eaten the ashes. Saturday I made my way ... read more

Bought a bus ticket (roundtrip) for 51 euros to Naples. The bus leaves Siena at 23:55 Thursday and arrives at 6:30 (I think) in Napoli. From Napoli, we're going to grab a train to Sorrento where we have reserved a 9 euro/person cabin on a campground (so far, 3 people going). Spend the day in Sorrento. Saturday we'll head to Capri and hang around there for the day. Saturday night we're not sure where we're staying. Sunday we'll chill out in Naples for the day until 23:55 when we take a bus back to Siena. We arrive in Siena at 6:30 (I think). Cool. Break!... read more

Lately (ok, since the beginning), the only thoughts spanning my mind while my roommate speaks to me: "I wonder how he'd react if I just started running" or "This is the longest stretch of road I've ever encountered" or "Is the army really that interesting?" or "He can't be this stupid" or "He actually believes, word for word, what the bible says?" or "Why are you so racist, sexist and homophobic?" or "There are only 2 more months rooming with him, Kevin...hang in there" or "I cannot believe he's coming to Brussels/Amsterdam with us" or "I cannot believe he thinks the way he does" or "Am I the only one on this trip who doesn't care for you?" or "Does this guy really think we're all going to keep in contact with him afterwards?" or "If ... read more

My roommate believes: The Earth is ~10,000 years old. People used to live to be 1000s of years old. The Earth was flooded by a great flood. More to come. I bite my tongue. This is getting difficult.... read more

Ciao ragazzi! So, for an update of these last seven days, Kevin Productions is proud to present: I believe it was Wednesday...could have been Thursday...a bunch of us were figuring out what we wanted to do for Easter break (we have Easter Monday off). Originally, we were all discussing Switzerland. I checked prices online, at an area where you can purchase train tickets and at a Travel Agency close to the school. Niente. The costs were either too high for the night train/any train or nonexistent. So, back to square one. I was searching Ryanair and came across (what I thought was) a cheap flight to Brussels. Score! Mom and Dad, I think it was Jeff who told me this was one of your favorite cities in Europe. Maybe he was lying...I dunno (punk). I threw ... read more

Classes : I enjoy them. Everyday I have a class at 8:30 in the morning (ITAL 102-201) con Vittoria. I go to ITAL 301-302 each day minus Wednesday. The class is held entirely in Italian. I can't get credit, but I still go for the extra italian. I need both Italian 201 and 202 before I can take 301-302. Every Monday and Thursday I have Ceramics. I'm a professional. Won't be bringing anything home. I will be leaving whatever I make with my host family or with the school. I also have History of Italian Civilization Monday and Wednesday. All of the teachers are great, so no complaints. Tuesday and Wednesday I go to mensa (cafeteria) at the university. Not bad...a lot of food. We get tickets that cover our costs. Not important to know, but ... read more

Hmmm...I forgot where I left off. On Thursday we all went to an Italian discoteque (spl?) club. It was crowded, OK music but not worth the 4 euros to get in. Friday we saw a live band at the Irish pub (2 guys on acoustic guitars playing covers). It was extremely entertaining. They were excellent. Knew most of the songs played. Saturday we played football with our history professor Raphaele (spl?). It was a mixed gender game...6 on 6/6 on 7. Our team won 10-9. w00t. There were a couple of collisions. Our teacher and my roommate knocked each other down at the exact same time I collided with someone else. Got a knee to the groin. Not fun. The game was a blast though...we'll probably do it again next Saturday. My roommate and I gave ... read more

We went to the market on Wednesday (held every Wednesday). It was...OK. The items sold are mostly geared toward women. It's gigantic though. The only thing I bought was a wild boar panino. 'Twas salty but not bad...not bad at all. I'll probably check it out this Wednesday just to buy a pear or somethin'. Heard they are delicious. On Thursday we all went to the grocery store with our program director (Daniella) and Barbara. We got into pairs, were given a list of items and were sent off to find them. It was a lot of fun. For one item we had to ask the butcher to prepare. All of the items in our cart checked out in the end. So, basically, we gathered all of the shite that Daniella needed. She purchased the goods ... read more

Let's see. Siena. Ah yes. Wonderful city with many steep hills and narrow streets. I'm not going to bore anyone with where I have walked (to and thru beauty), what I have seen (not nearly enough), and my plans for the future as I myself do not know. Let's start by explaining who these people I am with are and what my perception of them is. Daniella : Our program director. She is fluent in english and quite nice. Barbara: The assistant to the director. She is funny, sweet, beautiful and turning 40. 3 Vittoria: Molta bella. She's turning 50! She looks like she's in her late 20s! 3 In no order, the students (as read from a list on facebook): (Grandparents beware of language) Michael V : As dad might remember, this is the lad ... read more

The other day two of my roommates decided to put internet in our apartment. They’re really excited to blast into 2009 with new-fangled downloading-at-home capabilities. I came home the other day and Olinda was all in a huff. She told me: ‘I tried to download Happy Feet but instead I accidentally downloaded a porno about a guy with a foot fetish. I sat down expecting to watch a nice little movie about happy, dancing penguins but instead I had to watch some guy sucking on his girlfriend’s toes.’ She was certainly not amused. The new students have arrived and everything has been going really well. They are a group of eleven girls and I’ve been having a good time hanging out and showing them around Siena. We had orientation in the same place near Pisa where ... read more
