7th June 2011. Felt great to get the gruelling ride through Britain over with.......but the first 200 miles in France were nothing great! Two thunder storms put paid to any romantic ideas of camping in Champagne country. Discretion being the better part of valour I pulled in at Motel Du Bois with clouds straight from Haides pocket looming large ahead. Turned out to be not a moment too soon as the first thunder clap shook the windows as I was shown my room :-) Don't know where all the French came from from but somehow I had a conversation?? Dry out, dinner then sleep. 8th June 2011. Up with the larks to blue skies and warmth sneaking in the window. Usual breakfast of Champions...3 strong coffee's and a couple of cigarettes...and I was on the road ... read more

As I mentioned in my previous blog, we took a train from Munich to Venice on the 27th. It was a really scenic six hour train ride because it was going through the Alps in southern Germany, Austria, and northern Italy. We also were amazed to see about a dozen impressive castles from the train that were all obviously hundreds of years old. From the Venice train station, we hopped on a water bus to get to the hostel we were staying at. At this point it was evening so most of the popular sites in Venice were closed, but we still spent the evening walking around the city after eating our first Italian meal in Italy. The city was like nothing I have ever seen before. No cars are allowed in the actual city, but ... read more

Thursday 12thAugust Negotiated myself a train ticket to Rimini and after the hour journey I arrived, took a taxi to the hotel and found I couldn’t check in as my room wasn’t ready so dumped my suitcase with them and sat out in the sun for a while. Amazing location of the hotel, right on the main strip full of bars, restaurants and shops and opposite the beach. By the time I could heck in I got changed and headed over to the beach and just lay on a sun lounger for 3 hours. The breeze was amazing and made the hot sun really bearable. That evening I went for a lovely long walk up the main strip, there were street markets and shops open selling all sorts of trinkets and I found a lovely outdoor ... read more

Travelling through Italy you see compared to a few years ago an amazing number of security camera s. Probably Italy is competing with UK who is still EU champion. As in UK criminal rate will drop considerably by this action for within short time you need so many good guys to watch and check out the videos that there will be less bad guys automaticcally. Arrived yesterday with an delay of 6 hours in Rimini. Starting my travel in Catania with 10 minutes delay and building up after Messina with hours in the middle of nowhere. My scheduled arrival in Rimini was 9.30 am and I arrived 15.35 pm. In Messina the train was loaded on the ferry. Left and right on the underdeck 4 waggons. Took some time but in the end it works. Met ... read more

We got up early in the morning and packed again! We so need to remember not to unpack all our things at the next stop!! Max dropped us off at the train station where we took the metro into the city. we had to then take another metro to get to the main train station for the outward bound trains. Rushing so we made our train on time, with our heavy bags, we had to go down millions of stairs, only to discover we were on the wrong platform, so back up the millions of stairs and down the next set of stairs, panting, terrified that we were going to miss our train, exhausted we eventually boarded the metro that would take us to the main station. Keeran was dead on her feet...she could barely manage ... read more

Well its been forever since I've written and as most of you know, I'm actually home in California and have been for about a week. But I'd like to continue to write about my experience now that I have the time and hopefully it will express a more accurate depiction of the time that I had in Italy... because I've noticed that describing it to my family and friends after being home... I've been so happy to be home that its created this natural feeling of dislike for Italy when really I had some truly awesome times and seeing the Italy MotoGP was one of the greatest highlights of my trip. So here it goes! My trip to Rimini aka San Marino... aka Misano. Ok so one of my goals in life had been to see ... read more

Yo, Have to say that I've gotten a bit sloppy during the past couple weeks with updating the blog and connecting to the net in general. The reason behind it is that I've delved into the wild nature of Alps where I've found friends, who don't like the net so much and their influence forced me to forget about it for a while. The pics will tell you more than I can describe verbally. Right now I'm in Rimini, a touristic Italian city on the Adriatic coast. I've been here once, when I was still a young boy. Arrived yesterday in the evening, hence can't tell much yet, however the memories from the childhood enhance my desire to explore the region :) So long.... ... read more

Not Rimini, but Cattolica is not in the database. I, Hilary, have done two stupid things already. Well, 2 stupid things of note. Last night, after eating in the excellent restaurant Norina (where we ate last time we were in Pontremoli) we took a glass bottle of water in the bag with us. We also had the Eee PC in there. I put the bag down in a bar and broke the bottle but Ashley had wrapped the Eee well so my stupidity did no real damage. There was lots of water in the square as it poured and poured with rain. I think it must always rain in Pontremoli. My other stupid was losing my sunglasses which I need for the bike. I have no idea how I did that but I have bought some ... read more
