Ciao tutti! I have some fabulous updates about last weekend, which was spent in Rimini. Rimini is a town on the eastern coast of Italy, in the region Emilia Romagna (known for its cheese and its capital, Bologna). Rimini is a beach town on the Adriatic Sea, so it was kind of cool to be able to say that I swam in both the Mediterranean Sea and the Adriatic Sea within a week. Rimini is supposedly a really happening town for nightlife and clubbing, but even though it was 80 degrees and sunny it was still off-season and therefore most of the clubs and a lot of the hotels were closed. But that’s okay, because we made our own fun! We didn’t make plans to go to Rimini until Friday afternoon, so instead of rushing out ... read more

I've been visiting Rimini, on Italy's Adriatic coast, on-and-off for ten years. My first visit there was completely by chance, expecting to find a high-rise beach resort monstrosity but in desparate need of a sea breeze, I ventured from nearby Bologna. Arriving, I took a wrong turn, and ended up in the historic town centre, rather than the beach front - a fortuitous move, as otherwise I might have missed the roman ruins, and renaissance buildings that give Rimini its own particular charm. Geo: 43.9061, 12.8344Got back to Rimini at about 5 and it still wasn't beach weather. The sky was grey and the air cool. Really disappointing that I am finally at the beach and not wanting to go in the water! Walked into the centre of town and saw the castle- very average. It is only open for exhibitions. Got off a few stops early and walked back to the hostel past the many cafes and souvenir stores, wishing I was staying in one of the hotels with heated pools!... read more

Geo: 43.9061, 12.8344The whole way to Rimini it rained. I was finally going to be at the beach and it was raining!! Got off at the train station and caught the bus, I knew that I had to get off at stop number 24, but through the crowd of people I could not see the bus stop numbers on the street and had no idea how far it was from the train station. I'm sure I was annoying people on the crowded bus with my wet back pack on! Finally managed to see the bus stop numbers and got off at the right stop. The whole street seems to be full of hotels, ice-cream shops and cafes. At this stage it was pointless walking around the puddles as it was bucketing down, so instead I walked ... read more
