So, I asked my hostel pals to call the delivery service here at the Budapest Airport to find out where my luggage was...it was still in Frankfurt apparently, on the second day after I arrived. Apparently, the planes were too 'full' to take on my single, solitary backpack. I should have known this would be the case after reading the Luthansa baggage claim letter stating...'after 5 days, if you have not received your luggage, please contact our head office my mail....'. 5DAys!!! wow, it looks like they put a priority on this kind of thing. Anyway...I'm still happy and chilling here in Budapest. So I basically did some more walking around the city, this time in the opposite direction of my first run, this time towards the famous baths. I actually rode on the original subway ... read more

Ed: Our trip to Budapest began with our first flight using Easyjet. Now, if you’ve read Matt’s description of Easyjet’s main discount competitor, Ryanair, well this was the same but with the added extra of an underclass clientele! We had the pleasure of sharing our flight with two buck’s night groups, a Z-grade middle age rugby team, a hen’s night, and the local junkie which just happened to end up sitting next to Matt. It was the rowdiest, smelliest and most unpleasant leg to date. The junkie next to Matt (who looked like he had taken a big gulp of methadone before boarding) sat the whole way picking at his scabs and emitting rather unpleasant odours! Let’s just say it was a very long two hours, especially for poor Matt! We got into Budapest at around ... read more

Hey Guys, Well budapest was a blast, we had a great time. there were good times and bad. We stayed in a double room in the Golden Eagle Hostel in their only double room, which was very very nice compared to our other accommodation we had stayed in previously. It was over 100 yrs old and built by a communist man who built it for his family with entertainment areas and dancing halls. There was also a statue on the ground floor made of gold they think it was for his wife. Off course when the capitalist took over it was divided into apartments. We decided to give this a skip for the second half of the week, and made our home at a very cosy little place called the Musuem Hostel (Number 2). Like regular ... read more

I'm finally in Budapest...but let me tell you what it took to get here. First of all, let me say that too many going away parties and too little sleep, along with getting my last vaccination shot all combined to make me feel under the weather for my flight to London. The time zone switch also did me in a bit, as they had already changed to daylight savings time, so instead of arriving at 9am their time(4am Toronto time), it was 10am. I ended up landing in Gatwick, which I had forgotten about, but it was no big deal. As I was going through customs, the agent asked me how long I would be in the country, to which I replied 'I would like to be out of here by this afternoon if possible'. I'm ... read more

I woke up for a jog because the sunlight streaming in through the window was beckoning me outside. Since we were scheduled to have dance practice that evening I wasn’t sure if I would have another chance to enjoy the gorgeous weather. After I returned and had breakfast, we met in Dora’s living room to start practice. Before we started Kaspars K handed me a note and told me to read it to the team. The letter had a list of tasks we had to perform as a group. Each task was assigned to a particular person and was attached to a clue directing the person to find different pieces of paper hidden through out the house. For example the paper said, “Kaspars B do 100 push ups and find a note hidden under one of ... read more

We had our first Hungarian concert in a really cute little town about 2 hours away from Budapest. Dora was still not able to dance but Karoline was able to sing. This was the first time for Jesus Revolution to be in this city. Everyone from the church was incredibly nice. They kept telling us they wish weren’t going back to Budapest that night and could stay the night with them. They also gave us each a gift of a little Lion of Judah they made. I was really happy since I used to collect lions. The concert was in the biggest concert location in the city where rock concerts are usually held. As we entered the foyer, we were greeted by smoke from the bar. The night went really well and 11 people came forward ... read more

After the last concert in Czech Republic around 10 pm we decided to go ahead and drive to Budapest. That way we wouldn’t have to waste a whole day traveling but instead have a day off. Finally we would be united with our wonderful teammates, the beautiful Karoline and Dora!!! Dora is from Budapest and her family graciously opened their house to all nine of us. We arrived around 2:45 am to hugs and kisses from the girls then went straight to bed. The next morning Karoline and I went to a café at a nearby shopping center for a much needed time of catching up. Please pray for her, as her back is still bothering her. The doctors told her that two of her vertebrae are out of place and they are pressing on a ... read more
