Issy‘s cold is an absolute doozy and she wakes up feeling only very marginally better. We wander along the path towards Fira in search of nourishment. I launch into a concoction known as the ”Greek Breakfast“, which seems to just consist of three eggs. The name would seem to imply that a significant proportion of the local population munches its way through this every morning, which leaves us wondering where they get the eggs from. We haven't seen any chickens here yet. I hope the eggs come from chickens. I have coffee that the spoon stands up in, and I think that I'll probably now be awake for several days. Flying out of Mykonos to Santorini with others who were stranded by the ferry schedules, only they were paying 4x the price of our tickets. We were grateful to land in much nicer weather, still windy but manageable. It was afternoon when we landed, staying in Firostefani our first stop was a walk to Fira. The views on the walk there were incredible- I took so many duplicate photos as none could do it justice. On Saturday morning, the ladies that ran our hotel knocked on our door with a little Easter basket containing 2 red dyed eggs, 2 candles, and 2 baked treats that they had baked themselves. Santorini. It appears out of the Aegean Sea as mountainous islands that must be home to millions of seabirds…but what looks like a vastness of guano cascading down the cliff tops changes as the fast ferry powers closer into glistening white towns and villages.
