Kamp çalışanları bizi tanıdıl... read more

Meğersem Dangal... read more

The next bunch of days in Greece were very relaxing. The first day we were there (the one where we arrived so early) we took a nap right away. While we did that Emmy and Litsa went down to the fish market to get the next couple days’ dinners. Dan woke once our hosts had returned (probably sometime around 1000 hrs). Ashley followed not too long after. Dan learned that if you have a fishy smelling fish or a floopy fish, it ain’t a fresh fish. We both learned how to clean fish, but Dan was the only one with enough guts to do it (excuse the terrible pun). For the small fish (Sardines me thinks) it was rather simple. You just pop off the whole head and pull. For the big fish (Mackerel) it was ... read more

We arrived at Anne and Ivan’s building once again. They didn’t even check to see who had buzzed, they must have been expecting us. Not necessarily…the girls were asleep and they didn’t want the phone to wake them. They graciously let us stay with them for the evening. We stayed around the house most of the next day to visit, play with the girls and use the internet. We took a quick bike ride out to the English Gardens for ein Spezi und ein Radler. We got a little lost getting there, but it didn’t really matter; it was just a trip to say that we left the house that day. There was a lot more to see in the gardens so for a relaxing day we suggest to borrow (or hire) some bikes and putz ... read more

Total Distance Cycled: 516km The winds calmed down overnight, but we were still left with cold weather. We wore our jackets and gloves for the first time. We first had to climb over a mountain pass, which brought the temperature down much too low for comfort. We could see our breath at this point… After that, though, the rest of the day was our best so far. We cycled at least half of the day on one of Greece’s new freeways, which was quite impressive. 130kmh is the speed limit here! We even had the wind working with us now! Since we were making good time, we decided to press on from Komotini (our originally planned stop) and stop at Xanthi for the day. This would make the next day to Kavala that much easier. As ... read more

Well, the last few days have been interesting to say the least... We actually had a really good cycling day out of Alexandroupolis.... It was Sunny, Clear, a bit cold, but we had a tail wind for a change... We made it to Komotini by 11am - which is where we were supposed to spend the night, but since we were having such a great day, we decided to push on to Xanthi, which was another 50K... I'm certainly glad we did, because this morning, it was cold AND it started raining with only 15K left to our destination. We finally got into Kavala before it really started coming down. Barry was actually nice - he sat me down at a Cafe, ordered me a cappuccino and went to look for a hotel. Kavala is actually ... read more

R&R Greece We thought we would add these few phots from our other camera. We are both enjoying the rest but looking forward to getting back on the bikes again. We have to slow down a bit now or we will arrive to early in Instanbul. Because f the monsoon season we can't arrive in India before mid October at the earliest. The plan now is to stay in Kavala until Thursday then go to one of the small islands off the coast for the weekend before returning to Kavala. We will then head off slowly along the coast to the Turkish border. Where we go from there we will decide when our guide books turn up from the UK (thanks Royd).... read more

Steve minus winter body

Well we have finally made it to the Med. Along the way we have had blood with the little tumbles on the bikes, sweat as we battled with the hill of Bulgaria and finally tears of emotion as we saw the Med for the first time. We both can't believe we have come so far. A lot has happened since our last entry. As Dave kindly put it in one of his comments I've lost more of my winter body and there is defenately more room in the tent. We were glad to leave Hungary. Three things happened on our last day that was the final straw. First after I left the internet cafe I decided to get a hair cut. The hairdresser didn't speak English so I indicated I just wanted a trim. She nodded ... read more
