So I have made it to Germany. Had a pretty nice day of travelling yeasterday, even though I was very tired at the end of the day after three flights and very little sleep the night before departure. And then Moderaterna won the Swedish election, and there will be a change of government!! What a nice day!! Had a great stay at the Radisson Hotel in Frankfurt, what a fantastic hotel!!! It opened in November 2005, so it was brand new and had a really cool design! It is the first time ever I have got a guided tour of the breakfast buffet, but it was needed as the buffet was divided into different rooms. I got my upgrade as well (due to my SAS gold card), I was upgraded to a very large Business class ... read more

After a long flight from San Francisco through Dallas we will land at Frankfurt on Main shortly after dawn. The plan is to stay up until 10 or 11 p.m. local time and then sleep like the dead until the next morning. We hope to catapult ourselves into the Central European time zone this way. I'll let you know if it works. While we are keeping ourselves awake we will either be seeing the sights of Frankfurt or hop a train and shoot over to Koln for a quick visit. In any event we will head back to Frankfurt at dinner time before we collapse from lack of sleep.... read more

Today we leave beautiful, sunny Oakland, California, for our long flight from San Francisco International to Frankfurt, Germany. A little about us: We live in a mid-rise condominium building called The Sierra at Jack London Square. I work for the Oakland Police Department doing crime statistics, my partner - who does not want me to use his name - works for a large health care provider. We have made several trips together in the United States and one to Mexico, but this is our first time to go to Europe together. Here are a couple of photos of our life in Oakland:... read more

Ok ok, I know Frankfurt is not really a trip cause I was LIVING there, but since I'm not from Germany... it sorta was part of a trip... a really long one! ;) Anyways.. I was gonna say that it was sooo worth mentioning, but it's not anymore.. I should've written as soon as I went back home, now it's just funny for who was there.. but whatever.. I'll write anyway! =p So...the girls and I went to Frankfurt on Saturday night and spent an hour only at the hbf (I say this a lot...for those of you who don't know: hbf = main train station) cause we were starving and Ginnie and I found this place that sells sushi.. my obsession.. and it was kinda expensive, but soooooooo good!!!! So.. we went to the ... read more

Guten Tag! We are now in the heartlands of Germany and continuing East. We have clocked up about 1300 kilometers (about 800 miles) so far, our plan is to cross Germany, stopping at various interesting - looking places along the way, and then head down to Prague. We are staying with some friends at the moment who I came to stay with when I was a teenager. They live in Fritzlar, which is the twin town of dear old Burnham-on-Sea. I was anxious not to turn up looking completely frazzled, and had images of serenely gliding up on our bikes. These were ruined when an enormous rainstorm erupted from nowhere as we cycled into their village, and we looked more like a pair of wet rats as we dripped all over their doorstep pathetically. We have ... read more

The other Americans are really nice, but I don't know why I feel....mmmm....kind of weird ......yesterday I got a little bit drepress , but I'm not home-sick yet..I don't know, it was a weird feeling...all I wanted to do was listen to music in Spanish and look at the beautiful montains from the school's balcony. I'm actually having a really good time, I really don't know why I got like that. Well, anyway, moving on...we are living in small apartments which are right next the school like 'side by side'. There's 6 people per apartment, plus our teamer, who takes care of us, so that we don't burn the house!!!And there's 2 people püer room.
