What a day! wasn't really much here in Hamburg that I wanted to see but wanted to make it a base to see a few places out around. Wanted to go a bit east and see some of the old Hanseatic cities on the Baltic coast, see something a little different than the usual big city spots I go to. So after some research I decided on Lubeck, Wismar and Stralsund. Sadly Stralsund is close to 3 hrs away by slow train so that was a bit too far for a day trip esp this time of year with very short days. So anyhow got up at the crack of dawn (which thankfully is around 8!) and trudge to the train station to see how to get around. In Germany they have these great little tickets ... read more

ok so i've been bad so far this trip. Been to Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Copenhagen and surrounds so far. first I forgot that my computer has a three pronged plug and my adapter doesn't take those - just regular two prongs. so i had no computer for hte first few days. Then I finally got that fixed (fixed=scraping out the adapter and then jamming the plug in. That was a couple days ago and I just had two busy days in Copenhagen and was too tired to blog. Also, my small bag (manbag) the zipper broke the first day! I'm so rotted. I can still open adn close it but the zipper is separating from the bag so one of these times its just going to conk out. Hopefully it'll last another week. Anyways, guess I'll start ... read more

A new day, more adventures. It's not even 5am when Monica wakes me up. YES she won a meet and greet in Hamburg. That would be three days in a row, but who cares, we love it anyway. I now had time to give my presents. We packed the car and we waited for Hannah to arrive so we could go, Finally on the road, having a great time with the three of us. We smiled, and loudly sang along with the Spencer Bell CD's i brought. It's the best thing to do, just singing along with your favorite music, together with people they actually know it. By the time we arrived in Hamburg, we had to find a parking space, and I can assure you, that's not easy to do. After driving around in circles ... read more

3. Wahrscheinlich folgender Plan: Juli: Berlin (Weil ich vom Reisebüro STA-travel wusste, dass es geht, Globetrotter wollte mich immer von Frankfurt losschicken) Madrid-Quito August+September: surface bis Salta- Iquazu-Buenos Aires-Santiago de Chile Oktober+November:-Neuseeland+surface????? Novenmber+Dezembermitte: Australien+surface ???? Dezember um Weihnachten rum: Bangkog+???? Januar: ... read more

Hi everyone! Hope you are enjoying the lovely weather! We certainly were! Yesterday a group of us Erasmus students went on a day trip to Hamburg (which with our semester ticket was free) And walked around the city and went to one of the river beaches. There was about 20 of us who left in the morning for the train which took about 75 minutes. When we arrived in the city, we walked around seeing some of the sights like the town hall and the port, before we reached the river boat station, which for just over €2 took us upstream to one of the river beaches (and with it being almost 30˚C, meant many people had turned up). The rest of the group stayed later and went into the city to party, but with classes ... read more

“I might see you again if I ever come to Germany one day” were my parting words as I waved goodbye to a German backpacker at Sydney airport 6 years ago. Not really expecting to make it here, I ventured off the Busabout route and caught the train to Hamburg to see Tatiana, her husband Stefan and little boy David. I worked with Tatiana at Ozjet Boating in 2005 and was blessed to enjoy 6 days of family life and German culture 20km’s out of the city. I know some of you think this has become a bit of a food blog, well food is a passion of mine, so get used to the food frenzy and someday I might be able to re-create the yummy flavours for you when I get back home! Nous a ... read more

My homepage is online! I've been owning the domain www.katharinalochner.com for more than three years now, but I never managed to write something for it. Now, finally, you can find some information about myself, my work, and my hanggliding and triathlon experiences there. Feedback is welcome!... read more
