Despite having spent five days there, I was reluctant to leave San Sebastian. The place just sucks you in and tries very convincingly to keep you there. On the bright side, San Sebastian is a day stop on the Busabout route. Translation: departure time is 3:30pm instead of 8am. Hell Yes. I didn't realize just how close to the French border San Sebastian is, and we had crossed over less than 30 minutes after departure. The whole trip was about four hours, with a couple of episodes of ER to entertain us along the way. Amazingly, I'm the only one staying in Bordeaux! I'm talking out of a bus of 40. I though I was hallucinating when the accomodation bookings form went around and "1 Day" was marked across the board. How can everyone else just ... read more

The rest of our stay in Paris really was fun. We ate ridiculously good food and wandered the smaller streets away from the worst of the crowds. One afternoon Dad played a game of pick-up basketball with a group of Senegalese and met an Albanian guy named Philippe who recommended the restaurant Bouteille d’Or on the Rive Gauche with a view of the flying buttress end of Notre Dame. The restaurant turned out to be everything he promised, and more. The scenery was beautiful, the food was exquisite and there was a cat sleeping under one of the tables. Mom and I passed up the Louvre for the Jardin des Plantes, a massive botanical garden/ zoo/ natural history museum/ photo gallery/ traditional French garden. I could have spent days there. Depending on the weather, I definitely ... read more

Hi All, Have to rewind just a little. Back to monday. Jenee and I visited Notre Dam. Standing in queue outside you note St Denis on the facade, the only statue on the left side without a head. He'd apparently had his head chopped off and then picked his head up, brushed it off and went on! On the right side of the facade are a grouping of saint statues. Durng the revolution their statue heads were chopped off by the working class becasue they looked too much like kings. They remained headless like St D for many yrs but were eventually put back together. A teacher back during the revolution had unknowingly saved the statue heads by burying them in his backyard. They were unearthed accidently in 1977 and placed in the archeological museum. I'm ... read more

Today we drove from Holzgerlingen, Germany to Strasbourg, France. We drove through the beautiful Black Forest, famous for cuckoo clocks and Hansel and Gretel. Every February the small Catholic towns surrounding the Black Forest celebrates German Carnaval. The men in every town dress in traditional costumes and the women dress as witches to 'chase away the ghost of winter´. At the end of the festival a scarecrow is burned in the townsquare to symbolize the end of winter and the beginning of summer season. Because of the tradition, the Black Forest is commonly associated with witches--hence the creation of the famous fairytale: Hansel and Gretel! In Strasbourg we visited the Alsace Historical Museaum, La Petit France, the famous Notre Dame cathedral, the European Parlament, the Council of Europe, and the European Court of Human Rights. ... read more

Bonjour tout le monde et desolée, mais je vais continuer d'écrire en anglais. This has already been quite a busy trip and I'm not sure what to start with. We landed in Paris on Tuesday and right away Dad wanted to walk along the Seine, and we ended up circling the Sorbonne and wandering around the Jardin du Luxembourg. Wednesday was just as busy with an impromptu trip to the Musée d'Orsay and a walk through Montmartre. The high light of the museum was the pastels by Roden in room 40. Inspired by dreams and beautiful, most had cloudlike elements that allow the observer to see almost anything they can imagine in certain parts of the drawing. It's difficult to explain, like most dreams. It has been somewhat of a shock to go so quickly from ... read more

Hi Just a quick entry, the internet is hard to get onto at times and we don't have long today. We just arrived in Cannes, it is beautiful! Going for a quick swim soon before heading off to our hotel near Nice, then to Monaco to hit the casino tonight. Spent the last two nights at a chateau in county France (can't remember the exact name!). The first night was party night, theme 'Bright and Tight', we had lots of fun with that. Second night turned into party night again, them 'Pimps and Pros', Amy and Amy went as pimps and Dana and I were their pros, along with another guy we dressed up in a skirt and makeup. Mum/dad, you might want to ignore this bit :-) We had low cut tops on, a condom ... read more

After spending the day in Cannes at the beach and shopping we went to Monte Carlo for the evening. The drive was stunning, Monaco is absolutely beatutiful, and so ritzy! We walked around the palace and then headed to the Grand Casino. Unfortunately it was closed because there were big celebrations all around as it was the day that Prince Albert officially became prince. So we went to another casino, equally as stunning, and sipped cocktails overlooking the ocean while the sun set. There were so many big yatchs, ships, boats, with so many wealthy beautiful people. We all sat there dreaming about what life would be like. The girls all talked about how romantic a holiday would be here, and suprisingly even the guys were taken back by it all and said it would be ... read more

Hello everyone! Well, we have finally arrive in Paris, France and we have absolutely no idea what the hell is going on! We are your typical tourist who doesn't speak a lick of french. But needless to say slowly but surely we are getting along and also getting a lot of funny looks and laughs. Our flights went great. The flight over here had movies and video games so that kept us entertained, i was able to sleep a bit but justin pretty much stayed up, so we're both beat. Our hotel is interesting, that's always a good word, but there is lots to see around it and there are many fun eateries, cafes and seems to be cheap wine. Tonight we plan on going to the Eiffel Tower for the evening tour....get your money ready ... read more

We made it. Long journey. NY red eye. Visited the Met Museum of Fine Arts --Chanel, Matisse Exhibits. London red eye. Then the tube! What a strange time in history to be in London. We only had a day but we hit the Victoria-Albert Museum and saw the Queen Maude exhibit. She had an amazing wardrobe from victoria era to 1930's--remarkable style changes. Regent Street: Jenee had to do a little shopping. Pub grub and then we decided to take a quick stroll to buckingham Palace. I wanted to see it at night. There was an amazing photo slide exhibit across the entire palace commemorating 60th anniv of ending WWII---showing the blitz etc! Odd because of the earlier bombings. Most of the tube was down. I'm glad we were able to get to the hotel from ... read more

SO...I don't even know how to begin about this weekend! We woke up early on Saturday and left for Provins, where we got some breakfast (and a sweater because it was freezing) at the market. Then we went up to the medieval area of town. We paid a couple of euros and they let us in the old prison tower. It was amazing. Nothing was closed off to us and we could explore every nook and cranny (probably because its not a real tourist town). Ashley took some video of it, and I have awesome pictures. Ashley and I were retarded and wore our fur lined slippers we had bought the day before out, because our feet were cold, and then it started raining. We were slipping and sliding everywhere, but I only fell down one ... read more
