Date: 27.11.2004 Destination: Paris, France Day: 1 Paris, the romantic city. It was a weekend and following a day tour, we got to see this beautiful city and some of her world famous landmark. The bus begin the 6 hours long journey at midnight and reached Paris at approximately 8.30pm, making us having exactly 12 hours to see and feel the life in Paris. The weather was by our side as it is not too cold but just cool enough. First stop, Eiffel Tower. After getting used to the train, we finally reach the tower. The sight was just amazing! The tower is very high and we just couldn't see the top of it, because of the morning haze! People were starting to get more and more, so after a short breakfast picnic in the park, ... read more

Well, as October was coming to a close, my classes were becoming more demanding, and we started to settle into Parisian life. However, Halloween in one of my favorite holidays, and I did not want to totally miss out on it just because we were here in France. Luckily for us, Disneyland Paris had a Halloween themed month in October, and I was interested in seeing if the Disneyland over here measured up to the original southern California Park. It was a lot of fun. For the most part the parks are the same as each other, but there were some surprising differences. For one thing the rollercoasters Space Mountain and Thunder Mountain are much more like real rollercoasters here than in the original. Thunder Mountain actually includes a fairly large drop that carries you under ... read more

It’s funny how when you live in a city, it’s hard to imagine why people choose to come there on vacations. You sort of become accustomed to all the “sites” and forget to take the time to enjoy them. This is, believe it or not, even a little true for Paris. Maybe not as true as for someplace like San Diego, however, by the end of September, the only sites we had visited were those from my mandatory school field trips. Luckily for us, we have plenty of people coming to visit us over the course of the year. Our first guest was Lisa, Tyler’s mom, for the first two weeks in October. We had a great time. For the first time in 5 weeks, we were done with all the set up chores, and ... read more

I got off the train at Gare du Nord, in Paris, after my spur of the moment decision the night before and had absolutely no idea where I was, or how to get anywhere. The obvious decision would have been to have taken the metro as I was in a train station but I wanted to go outside and see what it was like. There was a streetmap on the bus stop outside so I studied that for a while and sort of worked out which way Sacre Couer was but I was still endeavouring not to look like a tourist so didn't want to stay staring at the map too long. Looking back now it was pretty obvious that I am not in fact Parisian, but anyway. I did eventually find Sacre Couer and saw ... read more

Well I don’t know where to start. Today’s actual date is the first of March. Yikes! That means I have 6 months worth of activity to sum up, for posterities sake. Okay. Well, over the last 6 months, I have sent out a few e-mails, so some of this will be old news to you all, but bear with me. So, I guess I will start in the beginning. After months of preparation, we arrived in Paris on the 23 of August. We each had two large pieces of luggage and a carry on in addition to our laptops. Of course we decided not to get a shuttle. Our flight was coming in pretty late, and that made it difficult to find a shuttle service that was willing to pick us up (a slight lack of ... read more
