This was another great day. We started out with a Paris city tour with Veronique. Sophie and Jeanne stayed on the coach with Francy and Veronique. They went on to Versailles. The rest of us got off the coach at the Arc de Triomphe, walked down the Champs Elysees, had lunch, walked through the Tuileries, crossed the Seine to the Musee d'Orsay, back past the Louvre with its famous pyramids and up to meet the group again at the Opera Garnier. We enjoyed a tour through the musee de parfaum Fragonard. From there, we went to dinner, then on a river cruise on a Bateau Mouche and finally, we climbed to the top of the Eiffel Tower. Well, we took the elevators. Afterwards, we enjoyed some crepes au chocolat and took the metro back to our ... read more

We arrived at 1pm, local time, after a delay in Newark. We were brought to our beautiful hotel and we dropped our bags in our rooms. We then went to the first arrondissement where we toured Notre Dame and met the rest of our group. We then walked past the Mairie (city hall) and Centre Pompidou (modern art museum) and on to dinner. We enjoyed Flam's, an alsacian speciality of flat bread pizza. We rode the metro back to our hotel and are settled into our rooms for some well-deserved rest. Tomorrow, we will see more of Paris and Versailles. ... read more

It looks like our weather is going to be around 50 degrees, with lows in the upper 30's. Pack some warm clothing and comfortable shoes. Sunday is forecast showers but the other days should be partly to mostly sunny. We're leaving in less than 4 days! Pack some running clothes if you'd like to come out in the mornings with me... :D... read more

First off I want to again thank all of you for your prayers!! Especially my godfather for expediting me in the line of requests, since i know has a special connection with the man upstairs. and my mother for worrying through i know at least one rosary chain. I will be forever thankful! So this might end up being ridiculously long (please tell me how long it actually takes to read all of it- im kinda curious) and in parts separated by dates. If you want any more info than I have provided, for i have skipped over the details of most parts, please let me know and I will fill in the bits. But here it goes from the beginning of the most random and stressful adventure of my life... It started on 5 April, ... read more

Bon soir mes amies! It's about a quarter after 9 and we are just getting back from dinner and bunking down for the night. We have the Last Samuri in French its great. So we started off the morning with a quick metro ride down to the Musee du Louvre. What a magnificant place. Our metro let us out right inside the musee and we found a little gift shop that sold tickets. (which means we missed the huge lines at the ticket counter.) We made our way up to the Denon gallery. As we ascended the stairs we came first upon, assorted greek/roman sulptures, then we found Winged Victory of Samothrace or as she is also know as the Goddess Nike. Ascending even more stairs we came upon even more greek/roman statues and paintings by ... read more

Paris is gritty, beautiful, busy, tranquil, vain, and brimming with dreams. We purchased a 3-day metro pass that allowed us to freely traverse the city. We went from the Northeast to Saint Michel, from Montmartre to the Champs Ely sees, and back again. The public transport here is brilliant; there are even bike stations where you may rent a bike and drop it off across the city at another station. Of note is that there is a strong odor of putrid urine in public squares and in the Metro; not constant, just occasionally wafting. Josh is convinced the French are just sneakily uncouth; I think it was a certain flower that grew in all the public gardens and flowerbeds. Six of one, half dozen of the other☺ Smallness. Everything in the City is close: close to ... read more

As I listen to the wind blowing through the trees and the pigeons cooing just outside our living room window, I still can't believe that we live in the very center of Paris! Over a week in our new home and we are settling in just fine! We are in the very famous and historical district of "The Marais" which is full of history and charm. The Bastille is directly East of us. Right now, discovering every nook and cranny seems impossible, but I am sure with time and some money, we will make our way around this enchanting neighborhood. When I start thinking about the fact that this is only one of twenty neighborhoods to be discovered, I become overwhelmed. Emmanuel and I wanted to simplify our lives and I can say that Yes, we ... read more
