Good morning all!! Sorry we have not been in touch but we have been without consistent internet service and are without a camera. Today is Friday, July 25 and we are presently in Dijon, France, a "launching pad" to Paris in the morning. Kathy had just had her second tour of the Dijon Police station. While getting passes on the tram in Nice to go to the train station, two girls asked Kathy for assistance. Apparently, her experience in the criminal mind did not help and she was relieved of her passport, driver's license, $300 in American cash (wait to they see how little this is worth), $300 in euro travelers' checks, two credits cards, her health insurance card, and $20 in euros. In order to get a temporary passport to return home, Kathy must have ... read more

June 18, 19, 2008 Chateau Region, France Back on the road again for a few hour drive to Vierzon via Tours. This is very nice country and the home to hundreds of “Chateaus” that were the homes of the rich and famous for a few hundred years. This part of the country has some ancient history and many medieval and Roman Empire ruins. It seems that every town has something “famous” from the “olden” days. There must have been a contest or something to see who could build the biggest and most churches in these small towns and cities. If you have not been here you would not believe the number and size of these Basilicas, Cathedrals and “neighborhood” churches. In some small centers we saw 4 or 5 very large churches and I don’t know ... read more

Last month in Dijon Well, what a month december was, it jsut seemed to fly by for me. Everything was potential last time things to do in Dijon. People were gradually leaving to return home. And above all Christmas Hype started to hit, the christmas lights were turned on, might ahve already mentioned this... the ice rink opened and everyone started to feel festive. The past couple of weeks have been even more hectic though as we've had exams to study for as well as doing all my christmas shopping, finding gifts for my flatmates as well as some friends from ESC. Exam study went well... it wasnt very productive though as me adn Paige spent most of our study time in Grand Cafe... we started with coffee and then graduated to Monacos (pink beer!) so ... read more

Turning on the Lights Well this week has been an eventful one, which comes as a shock to me as from the outlook I thought it was going to be a borning one wiht nothing happening. Monday and Tuesday were normal enough day, had a surprise essay in one class and then spent hours on skype chatting to Megan as well as mum and dad. Wednesday night was my beckon as we'd organised a girls night of pizza and drinks with movies! Margaux, Tara, Kelsey, Paige and I ended up eating sans esther as she was sick and couldnt stop vomiting?! But after a day of rest she was all better Then Thursday night there was a small party at Gallways which I was contemplating going to with some of the girls when I got invited ... read more

There's just something about Europe Ok so i'm not sure who of you know this, or if any of you reading this know but I've changed my mind. I am not coming back to Australia in January... In fact, i'm not coming back for 7 more months... AHHH!! My logic is this; if I am in Europe, and am loving it (both of which are true) then why not stay a little longer and benefit from a bit of travel? There are two main reason for which I have decided this. Firstly, once I graduate from Uni i'm going to have to go straight into the work force to maintain and improve my contacts and I don't feel that I will really be able to travel for at least a few years after that. Also I'll ... read more

Le Tournement de 5 balloons Ok so just a quick update on life in Dijon. Everything is cruising along, finally things are coming into rhythm, and i'm leaving in 5 weeks! So typical. Thanks to all the strikes that are going on over here everyone was stuck in Dijon. This was very benefical for the school though is it was the Tournement de 5 balloons. This means a 5 ball tournement which was held between all 5 Grande Ecoles in Dijon, playing rugby, basketball, handball, hockey and soccer. Me and Kelsey decided that this would be the perfect opportunity to spend a day out in the cold with a bottle of wine watching sport. We thought that as back home when we go to watch live sport people drink beer, we'd do it the french way! ... read more

Dijon Oct 1 - 4 Monday started off as a normal day, I had two classes at school where we found out that that night there was a 'practise' night for the WEi, this was at Gallways, a cool pub with an underground clubbing area and metre long shot boards : O. So for 20 Euros you recieve 23 shots... absolutely insane! French ppl definatley know how to party and french guys dance sooo funnily, they really just let loose its awsum :P Before Gallways though me, Esther and Ingrid went to the late night aerobics class at uni, it was an hour of power sweating and we loved it! All of us had been craving doing some proper exercise so we were sooo amped up on endorphins that we didn't want/need to drink much at ... read more

Dijon I've finally worked out how to make a blog! Ok so welcome everyone to my new web travel blog! I have decided to make this as everyone is asking me similiar questions and im spending ages repeating the same stuff to everyone and then ppl are getting annoyed for not being told personally, so hopefully i'll update this every week and keep you all in the loop. France is absolutely AMAZING! It is soo beautiful, and old, and stunning and WOW! But i'm sure you've noticed that from my pictures already : ) Dijon is its own little version of France with quaint little alleyways and cobbled roads and big regional flags flying in the streets. The only real problem with Dijon is the weather (i cant believe im complaining already!) and the shop opening ... read more

Dijon is a very vibrant city with a lot to see and do. It is the home of mustard - the factory outlet store "Moutard Maille" sells many kinds of mustard and mustard related things. The Bourgogne pie from this region contains ham, cheese and of course mustard. The Botanical Gardens are next to the train station and also near my hotel. There is a fountain, children's playground and pool, formal gardens and a lake with ducks. The main street is Rue de la Liberté and is lined with shops, boutiques and eateries. There are too many important and impressive buildings to point a camera at such at Notre Dame Cathedral, Palais des Ducs, St Michel, St Etienne, Palais de Justice and Hotel de Ville (the town hall located in the impressive main square). The ... read more

Its been a bit rainy the last couple of days but anywayz... Spent an afternoon an morning in Lucern. In the afternoon walked all around the old town. The bridges were al pretty unique. Went an saw dying lion of Luzern, was much larger than i expected an cut into the actual rock face of the cliff. In the morning it was still raining, so decided to get a train somewhere else. Off to Dijon, halfway between Switzerland an Paris, famous for its Mustard. Got to Dijon in the afternoon an decided to lash out an get a 2* hotel room, seems the only hostel was about 20min out. Found a great little one in the heart of town recommended in Lonely planet. Was a little french place with boxes of red flowers on the windowsill ... read more
