Dubrovnik October 1st London, Gatwick was easy and efficient. We didn't have to officially arrive in the country but were able to go through another security check into the transit area of the airport. Here Judy lost a small pair of scissors that were in the medical pouch that she had moved from check in to hand luggage before leaving Mexico.(due to still not feeling well) They had already been through 2 American Airline checks without being found - ridiculous isn't it? Arrival in Dubrovnik was also a breeze. Officials took a quick look at our passports and we quickly moved to where our luggage was already waiting before going through the doors and seeing Peter and Rachel immediately! From the airport we drove along the coast to our new home. We could already see that ... read more

We'd been looking forward to coming to Dubrovnik for a while now to chill out - had planned to enjoy the sun, take a dip in the ocean, and Luke had his heart set on spending some quality time with the barman at the swim-up-bar at our hotel. Unfortunately, someone forgot to inform mother nature!! Bitch!! The first few days started pretty crappy, continuous rain and grey skies, but then cleared in the afternoon - so we shouldn't complain too much. We visited the charming town of Dubrovnik (into the old city) every evening for dinner - the food at our hotel is ridiculously overpriced - and even found the waiter who served Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas (according to a pic in a Croatian mag!!) Today was the first day of nothing but sunshine - ... read more

Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii. Phoebe Here!! We have spent 5 days on this ship and so far have been to Katakolon, Izmir And Istanbul. Today we are getting off at Dubrovnik. Our ship is called Msc Orchestra. Its HUGE. In Katakolon we went to the first Olympic stadium. It was awesome. I didn’t get off at Izmir and I spent the day on the ship lazing about! The next day we went to the grand bazaar. It was like a huge indoor mall. I wanted to get some Turkish slippers but they had none in my size. =. Yesterday was spent a sea and we saw some one carving veggies. Every night we watch a show in the theartre on the ship. Its Really cool. Bye Bye  PHOEBE… READ MY SISTER’S BLOG Hi everybody its julia I am ... read more

Thanks to the clever guy, Ali, at TravelBlog who's just written a TravelBlog application for Facebook, I've been able to link my two accounts so you should get my latest updates on Facebook if you're not already a subscriber to our TravelBlog . If you're resisting Facebook (wise person) you can subscribe to my TravelBlog account by clicking on 'subscribe' near the top right of the page. Then you'll get an email each time I update the blog. Ok. Well the 76 photos I’ve uploaded might give you some idea of how much we loved Croatia - and of just how many beautiful shots there were. It’s taken me 3 hours to upload the pics - and that doesn’t count the time I took to ‘shortlist’ & resize them from the 465 pictures which maxed out ... read more

We set sail from Venice and the view from the ship of St. Mark’s square was beautiful. We headed to Dubrovnik, Croatia which we had just visited in June. We took Jon’s Mom Wink off the ship when we hit port in Dubrovnik and showed her all of our favorite spots including the gelato place. The walled city of Dubrovnik is very beautiful. We had our Muster today where you have to put your life vests on an meet at the life boat meeting place. It was pretty funny. The Crystal Serentity is such a beautiful ship with so many fun things to do. We had a formal dinner in the dining room as well.... read more

Well, we finally headed off for our honeymoon 6 weeks after the big day!! But it was well worth the wait....Dubrovnik, Croatia really blew us away. Having a fantastic apartment with a sensational view really helped! Our 'Angelic Apartment' was no more than a 10 minute walk into the Old Town, and even closer to the beach - perfect! Plus, we had a huge terrace that overlooked the water and the Old Town....and here we sipped wine & beer well into the twilight before heading into town for a seafood dinner. The days we spent lazing on the beach in the morning, before wandering into town for lunch and exploring. On one of the days we went sea kayaking out to the nearby island, Lokrum, where we had lunch and went snorkelling in small rock cove. ... read more

We got up early and booked a Walls & Wars tour of the city which involved a 2km walk around the top of the Dubrovnik Walls. Great views, really super stuff. Our guide Michael was a young Croatian Goth type dude who kept saying 'Is it OK?' at the end of every explanation. Oh, our apartment has great views here too, everything does, you really cant go wrong.. except for the 200 steps to our apartment from the street. Legs of pure rubber!!! ... read more

Up with the squirrels and off to Gatwick! A maze of tubes and trains masterfully conquered by our intrepid travellers and then off over France and Austria, down the Adriatic coast for a touchdown at Dubrovnik. Initial concerns at the lack of a map, and the total lack of assistance by the Sixt rental outlet to even show us where our car was hiding (eventually we caught it after taking our trundell bags down the main highway) led to total disaster, mayhem and trauma, (on my part) trying to come to grips with a manual transmission in a right-hand drive Skoda in Dubrovnik rush hour. Needless to say, we got hopelessly lost, and I got hopelessly hopeless. After 3 hours, we managed to travel the required 44 kms to our new home, Apartments Stankovich. Fortunately our ... read more

Awesome Croatia Next day it is absolutely scorching and we head to Dubrovnik, Croatia, for the day. After waiting at the border for over an hour, we finally arrive! This place is absolutely amazing, the coast is absolutely beautiful and the town of Dubrovnik ‘the jewel of the Adriatic’ itself is all within Ancient City Walls. I definetley would like to head back to this town for some summer relaxation. The town itself is really cool, we wonder around and walk up on the city walls for a fantastic view, and have the yummiest lunch ever! I had oven-baked squid with roasted potatoes and it was divine! They have their very own Haviana shop, and I did happen to purchase my very own pair of Croatian Haviana’s, there cool! We also manage to fit in awesome ... read more
