I got up at 7 o'clock again. At 8 o'clock we had breakfast. At 8.40 we went to the bus. At 9.30 our school began. Our teacher David made quizzes with us as well as the other two teachers Kate and Katie. We had to sing a song. From 11-11.30 we had a break. Then another teacher Adeline came and we played the game PICTIONARY and we had to guess what popular person we were. One time I was Spiderman and the other time I was Justin Timberlake. It was great. At 2 o'clock p.m. we went on a sightseeing tour. We saw the cathedral, MC Donaughs and many other things. The city is really big and has lots of shops where you can buy lots of souvenirs. At 5 o'clock we went home by bus. ... read more

At 7 o'clock I got up and later we had breakfast. At 8.40 we went to school by bus. It tooke 20 minutes. The school began at 9.30. Our teacher Adeline came and we had to introduce yourself and we had to guess her age, interests and so on. From 11-11.30 we had a break. Then our other teacher Brian came and he talked about the theme “LOVE”. In the lunchtime I went to the Cathedral with Theresa. The Cathedral is an historic building, very valuable and big. I haven't seen such a Cathedral before. At 2 o'clock p.m. we made a treasure hunt and we had some questions to answer. I went with Theresa and Kerstin from the other class. It was very funny. We asked a lot of people, a few were very friendly ... read more

Today I got up at 7 o'clock. At 8 o'clock we had breakfast with milk, toast, cornflakes and jam. At 8.30 our host father brought us to school. Before the school began, a woman repeated the school rules. At 10 o'clock our teacher Caroline came. We had to introduce ourselves and played the game "Taboo". This was very funny and she was very nice. From 11-11.30 we had a break. I used my time eating my lunch pachage and writing an e-mail home. Later we had another teacher named David. We played games and made quizzes with him. David was a little bit crazy but nice. From 1-2 o'clock we had our free time. Later we were watching the Film "Notting Hill". Our class the 3AHW and the 3BHW went to Ireland. We met at 7 o'clock at the school. The bus was already waiting for us. We drove to Salzburg where we checked in at the airport. Later we were screened. The plane left Salzburg at 11 o'clock and we were flying about 2 and a half hour. Then we went to Dublin by bus. It took about four hours. At 6 o'clock we arrivedat Galway and our host family picked us up and she explained us where the bus stop and the promenade is. Europe » Austria » Carinthia » Millstatt October 20th 2006

Our friendly Salzburg tour guide suggested we stop for the night in Milstatt - a small resort town on Milstattersee, a beautiful alpine lake. It was definitely slow season here as there were only a handful of accommodations and restaurants open. We can imagine it is a booming place in summertime though! It was a treat to discover the town is home to the Stiftskirche, a Romanesque Benedictine Abbey founded in 1070. We found the church empty the next morning, except for an older lady who was tending to the flowers on the altar. As we sat contemplating the age of this place, an air-raid siren went off. We must have looked somewhat perplexed and unsure of what to do, so the lady attempted to explain to us the meaning of the siren in German. We ... read more

All my fears were completely well founded! We spent almost 5 days up in Spittal and pretty much all we did was eat, drink, and speak bad attempts at the local dialect of German, or 'mit hand und fuß' as my grandmother's step sister Gertie would say. We did manage to get out and visit some of the nearby villages such as Kaning, where my grandmother was born, the very cute St Oswald and Bad Kleinkirchheim where we had lunch and visit the family graves, and the beautiful Millstättersee which shimmered in the sunlight as we drove by. The landscape is wonderful - the hills are steep and green, the houses adorned with flowers, and the roads narrow and windy, barely fitting on the hillsides. The family were typically crazy, full of life, and lovers of ... read more

Last week I headed off to the slopes to try my hand at skiing. I always thought I was a decent skier, meaning, I can put the skis on and go down the hill without falling. WRONG. Nikki fell at least 20 times in a period of 6 days and has the bruises to prove it, which, by the way, are of no normal size. One of them was the size of a tennis ball on my right calf. How I managed to pull that one out remains a mystery. For the first 3 days, nobody saw the likes of Nikki after 9:00 PM. It wasn't because I was out binge drinking at pubs like usual. I was fast asleep, like a little huddula hush hush, and when I woke up at 7 in the morning, ... read more
