Not much to say here besides happy birthday buddy! We went crazy in our appartment on Jords birthday, taking countless timed photos at midnight, during one of them Mike had my legs propped up in a really disgusting position, I was laughing too hard to do anything about it, was wearing Courtney's shirt for some reason when the land lady came in to tell us to be quiet, Jord said to ignore her and finish the photo shoot, so we did! Ohwell it was all sorted out later but I wanted to post some birthday photo's!... read more

Wow, there isn't an awful lot I can say about the Bay Islands that can't also be said about "Good times". This place is amazing, we've had nothing but the most outrageous fun for days. Got here Wed the 23rd and found out the ferry was destroyed in some sort of accident so then they started using the backup ferry which... was also destroyed in another accident less than two weeks later, thankfully they didn't actually get a new boat captain, just ANOTHER boat which, isn't actually a ferry at all but a shady cargo ship. So we sat on an oily deck with exhaust everywhere, Jordan was extremely seasick and couldn't glance away from the horizon, i managed to nap on a pile of burlap bags full of live shrimp. It was a terrible ride. ... read more

What I seen in Honduras so far was impressive, but not really in a positive way. After visiting the ruins of Copan I made my way to the Bay Islands. It would be a 2 day trip, but just 15 minutes before we left, we heard that a bridge had collapsed wich we had to cross on our second day. It had been raining for 8 days, due to the huricane Gamma. A lot of rivers were flooded, roads where unpassable..so we were stuck in San Pedro Zula. We looked for other options so we deceded to fly to La Ceiba from were we could take a boat to the Islands. Our flight was supposed to go in the afternoon, but at 19.00 we were told to find a hotel and try it the next morning ... read more

We're stuck on an island... Today is sunday, and we've been here on Utila for over a week now, the longest time we've continuously spent in one place so far. We've done everything we wanted to do here: Tamara got her 6 dives, Mette and Anna have worked on their tans, snorkeled and walked the island back and forth in flip flops (autch). This island was what we came here for: it's paradise (except for the damn sandflies, we look as if we've got the chickenpox again...)!! We arrived on a saturday evening and even though it was dark, we could feel the difference from the mainland. People welcomed us in english, or more exactly in creole, and everything seemed veeery laidback... We decided to celebrate our arrival and started etkot in our disgusting room at ... read more

First of all sorry for not posting anything over the last 3 or 4 days as I know some were worried about Wilma. But that was the reason I wasn't able to write. Last Friday I met up with my tour group to start our trip through Central America. We met up in Antigua and departed on Saturday for Honduras. The group seems to be good so far. It's comprised of people from England, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and America...12 girls and 6 guys. We left Antigua and headed to the Copan Ruins. The ruins were pretty impressive to see. It's hard to believe that these people were able to build such sophisticated and complex cities with none of the modern day instruments we have. We stayed in the neighbouring town of Copan Ruinas for ... read more

Hey all, The final country on my Central America adventure, is the fascinating country of Honduras. And it was the beginning of Honduras started with the end of my trip with Dad. This was not before though a ramshackle of an entry across the Belizean border. I hate to say it, but the boat from Placencia to Puerto Cortes is an absolute shambles. $50 dollars was a steep price to pay for half a seat, then an hour standing in a rickety boat which we then all waited an hour and a half at the border crossing for nothing to happen, and for the attendant to insist handling passport details inside the crammed boat rather than in the space of the dock. 3 hours later we stretched our legs finally and waiting another half hour for ... read more

So here I am on Utila, which is an Island about an hour's ferry ride off the Honduran coast. I got here and immediately felt like I was home. There is something about this place that reminds me of Anna Maria Island when I was a child. It's mainly untouched, but getting close to being overrun in the next couple of years by people who want to make a lot of money off the beach front property. Everything is relaxed and unhurried here. You can wait an hour for your dinner at a restaurant and no one seems to care except the person who is withering away at the dining table. You can hear so many different languages around you and every accent of English there is and EVERYONE calls everyone else sweetie, darling, and love. ... read more

WESTERN CARIBBEAN “TEXARIBBEAN” CRUISE June 25 - July 2, 2005 Saturday, June 25, 2005 Seven of us boarded the NCL Sea at the Barbour’s Cut terminal just outside of Houston for our 7-day western Caribbean cruise: Linda, Bill, Mama, Brian, Christy, Lisa, and Eric. The boarding process was smooth and efficient, and we were in our staterooms by 3 p.m., readying for the mandatory lifeboat drill. Bill, Mama, and I are in a gorgeous and spacious VIP suite at the front of the ship on deck 8, immediately below the bridge (#8001) with two large windows forward as well as two portside. A basket of fruit, a tray of desserts, and a bottle of Champagne welcomed us. The kids’ cabins are down the hall. We met our personal concierge Julie in one of the lounges to ... read more
