Matt showed up on Tuesday and he brought winter time with him. It is really cold, it is sixty something with the wind blowing up to 30 knots all day and night. You need your sea legs just to stay on the boat at the dock. We have started our winter workout routine at the small resort fitness faclity. By the time we get back we will look like Hans and Frans. I know we are in paradise but we are wearing jeans and sweatshirts and staying and reading. We are starting to get into a rountine, breakfast, reading, workout, lunch/laundry, emails, reading/nap, dinner and sleep at 9:30. Tonight was a bit different. Vendredi le 28 décembre 2007 Staniel Cay Jour 1 Nous attendons d’être dépasser la zone du Park National pour mettre les lignes à l’eau. Comme à chaque fois, nous espérons prendre un joli thon ou un Mahi Mahi. On le sait que ça viendra, mais quand, ça on ne le sait pas ! Nous apercevons que la ligne côté bâbord a une prise au bout. Seb saute sur sa ligne pour ramener le poisson envoyant déjà un thon dans son assiette pour ce soir. Et non ! Ce n’est pas un thon, mais un %$?& de Barracuda. Dans plusieurs pays on peut le manger, mais, malheureusement, on ne peut pas manger ce barracuda dans les Bahamas à cause d'une plante qu'ils mangent. On prend quelques photos et on le remet à l’eau. We left Great Harbor on Boxing Day and had a wonderful sail over to Devils-Hoffman, our favorite anchorage in the Bahamas. There was a light breeze and the seas had calmed down considerably since the last time we were out (thank goodness!) And as we pulled into the anchorage we were thrilled to be the only boat there. Devils-Hoffman is a perfectly protected, calm anchorage surrounded by many little islands with beautiful white sand beaches. The water is shallow on the Bank to the west creating crystal clear waters that vary in color from the lightest of turquoise to deep cobalt blue, with patches of green where the conch grass grows. We made it back to the Bahamas the day after Christmas. When we left Wilmington it was rainy and about 40 degrees, after an hour and a half flight we were in sunny 78 degree weather. We spent the day packing the boat with all the sluppies we brought and then relaxing at the pool with a swim up bar... i couldn't help but think this is going to be a great winter. We lazily made it to Hope Town late Thursday morning. After a little relaxation we hopped in the dingy and headed to the Lighthouse. On top of the Lighthouse you can see most of the Abacos and all the boats running back and forth from Marsh Harbor. Journal de bord Jeudi le 27 décembre 2007 Warderick Jour 2 Ce matin, nous allons faire de la randonnée pédestre sur les sentiers de l’île qui sont très bien banalisés. Le paysage est à coupé le souffle d’un côté la mer et de l’autre le Bank. C’est une journée splendide, malgré la chaleur accablante de 30 C. contrairement à l’habitude, il n’y a aucun vent. Eh oui ! Depuis notre arrivée au Bahamas, le vent oscille toujours à 15 nœuds en moyenne et parfois plus. Au grand plaisir de Seb ! Enfin ! Son éolienne sert à quelques choses. Les batteries sont toujours pleines et à chaque fois qu’il utilise son multimètre pour vérifier l’état des batteries, Seb est heureux, comme ça ne se peut pas !
