Daddy took me on a 3 night cruise! This was definitely a different way to travel. The only other time I slept on a boat was in Halong Bay, Vietnam for 1 night, but this boat was much different. It was a HUGE boat with many restaurants, pools, Jacuzzis, and even a waterpark and miniature golf course. We went with Christy and her son, Jonathon. Dad and Christy have been friends since they met in the Air Force Officer's Training Camp over 10 years ago. Like daddy, Christy is not in the military anymore. It was great to have a friend on the boat and we got along great. The best part of the trip was the day we spent on the Bahamas. We first took a smaller boat to a small little island called Blackbeards ... read more

Enfin ! À notre grande joie, nous avons sorti 3 ... read more

Christmas is over, and as I’m writing this, it’s New Years Eve. We’re anchored in Elizabeth Harbour just off of Stocking Island, and have been enjoying the holiday season here, with our family. Steven arrived on December 20, Dawn Paul and Ella on December 22. It has been a wonderful holiday, (even if the boat is a little crowded), and we know we are just about the luckiest people in the world! In our last blog we were half way down the Exumas, in the Bahamas Land and Sea Park. We got stuck there a little longer than we had hoped, and we were starting to sweat it , that we wouldn’t get to Georgetown when Steven arrived. Finally on December 11th, with good weather we left Wardwick Wells, with the intention of stopping at Blackpoint, ... read more

Nicole, Steph, and I had been waiting weeks to visit the Atlantis Resort while we were in Nassau, and we were finally all off duty in the port together, so off to Atlantis we went. We were super excited to see sharks, as Nicole has a great fear/strange obsession with them and we knew it would be exciting for her to see them. We purchased the "Discover Atlantis" package, and spent the day exploring the aquariums. There were tons of cool fish, a manaray, sharks, and I finally got to see what a sea horse looks like! I was surprised at how many of the fish I could identify and name. I guess my fish ID course from diving paid off! We had a lot of fun hanging out today for the day, as it was ... read more

The Bahamas - On To the Exumas We arrived in Lucaya, Grand Bahama Island, on the afternoon of Friday November 28th after a 25 hour sail from Vero Beach, Fl. The trip was mostly uneventful with light winds and calms. Not a bad way to make a Gulf Stream crossing. We checked into the Grand Bahama Yacht Club, a fancy marina in Lucaya. From there it is easy to clear Bahama Customs and Immigration. Next, we decided to spend a couple days there waiting out a predicted strong storm system which was to pass during the next two days. On Monday morning we left along with four other boats all headed south and east toward the Exumas. Our planned destination for the night was Great Harbor bay some 65 miles to the East. The weather prediction ... read more

In our last blog, we posted a picture of me finding a mooring ball in Soldier Cay Bahamas. There is a Soldier Cay in the Berry Islands, and another in Exuma Land and Sea Park. Our picture from Soldier Cay was from Soldier Cay in the Berry Islands. We are currently still in Wardwick Wells, and have not been as far south as Soldier Cay in the Park. Anyone wishing to see the route we have taken may contact us and we will share our Winlink position reports. The Exuma Cay Land and Sea Park is one of the most beautiful places we have ever been. It is a protected "no take area" , and you are not allowed to take anything from the Park. We adhere to this, and appreciate how this park operates, and ... read more

December 9, 2008 We are in the Bahamas and glad to be here. We left Vero Beach on American Thanksgiving November 27th (after dinner of course) and crossed that night to Port Lucaya Grand Bahamas. This year the weather has been a little unique down south. In Florida it has been colder than usual, with lots of cold fronts (always from cold Canada) . We travelled from St.Marys Georgia to Vero Beach Florida, in the Inland Waterway, then spent 9 days in Vero Beach. Vero Beach is a very popular spot for people like us en route to the Bahamas or the Caribbean. They have great facilities for boaters, excellent access to shopping for provisions, and it’s a wonderful place to meet old , and new friends. Most boats tie up to mooring balls, and it ... read more

After our two week repositioning cruise, we’ve changed our itinerary for the last time until after I go home for vacation. We’re currently doing Great Stirrup Cay (NCL’s private island); Nassau, Bahamas; Freeport, Bahamas; and Port Canaveral, Florida. Our first week in these ports was pretty cold. In Nassau, I was able to spend some time with one of my mom’s co-workers/friends who has a timeshare on the island. Judy and her husband John were great. I caught the bus to go see them (super easy). When I got there I asked the bar tender if he knew where Judy P was and he pointed at John standing next to the pool, telling me that was her husband. I went over and he took me to Judy. Judy and I spent awhile chatting, then they brought ... read more
