The day on the sea passed very quickly doing nothing and shortly before 23.00 hours the lights of Lanzarote appeared. All the people getting off the boat in Arrecife headed on down to the garage. It was hot, hot, hot.I pulled on my leather trousers and waited until the last moment to put on the helmet. The gremlins were back at work and the rear light did not light up so with my foot on the brake i went down the ramp and slowly past the Police checking the cars coming off the ferry. It worked and I was out into the city.I headed straight to the Hotel Diamar to stay the night as the first ferry to Fuerteventura was at about eight in the morning.A short nights sleep and a good breakfast (check out the dining room in the hotel,Amazing) saw ... read more

A new day has dawned and I am well relaxed after a good nights sleep and a quick breakfast. We are somewhere out on the atlantic on the way to Lanzarote. My fellow cabin companions are a good lot.Two are living on Fuerteventura and the other is a German,Uwe,who is delivering a car to Lanzarote. All seem to be of aroundabout the same age grouping.Last night , Uwe and myself had a few beers after dinner before retiring to bed at about midnight. This morning we were allowed down to the garage to check our vehichles.I was a bit concerned about the ropes tying the bike down but it was not a problem. Straps are provided but I would reccomend also having a length of washing line or Tie down straps to be really secure. The heat in the garage ... read more

Monday night - Tuesday was a short night with a horribly persistent mosquito using me as target practise.I finally gave up and at 05.30 got up to pack my bags.I was very suprised to find Siobhan (my sister)up and drinking tea out on the terrace.Sha has had a bad cough for a few days was not able to sleep. It was great to have a chat with her as we really do not see a lot of each other due to the fact that we live several countries apart. After about an hour Andy appeared and we just sat there and chatted as the night faded away and the sun slowly rose.I had had a great time with Andy all the way down and it was with mixed feelings that I finally set off for Cadiz.I would have ... read more

Monday was a funny sort of day. I was the first up and after checking the bike out I went to pick up Pan Chocalade ?? in the local bakery.Having a topbox is great, everything can be just thrown inside. When I arrived back Andy was the only one up.we had breakfast together on the roof and made a few plans for the day. I think that he must be suffering from withdrawal symptoms because He has decided to rent a scooter for the remaining part of the week.At about 011.00 we threw on the helmets and headed down to Nerja to pick up a 125 cc scooter. As we were waiting to collect it I remembered that an old friend of mine has a house down here so I rang hmto see if by chance he was there.I ... read more

Sunday dawned and after a quick tidy up of the house and a breakfast on the roof ,we headed out to the airport. The airport in Malaga is about 35 KMs away. The airport is being rebuilt so if you do not have to go there,do not.!!! I left Andy to pick up Siobhan (my sister) and I went back to the house. All arrived safely.Suddenly the house was full of people.I disapeared off to Velez- Malaga to look for internet connection and spent a really nice afternoon sitting on the avenida maritima chilling. When I got back to the house we decided to abandon the idea of a bbq and we headed out to eat at a local restaurant just up the road."La Estacio" is run by Carlos and I can reccomend it to anyone.Carlos is a really nice ... read more

Leaving in the morning from Occana was great with the sun not quite up to Temperture. We did about 160 KM bfore stopping for breakfast. It was an uneventful run down except for going through a radar trap near Granada at rather an illegal speed.I was driving at that stage and hope only that thepolice were still setting up or something. The bike has behaved perfectly even in the extreme temperatures we have had during the past three days.We have got into the rythmn of doing about 90 minutes nonstop before having a break, and refilling.Shortly after Granada we took a smaller road down towards the coast. This brought us through Alhama de Granada and from there on down to our destination of Velez-Malaga. The house where we staying belongs to Andys sister who very kindly allowed us to use it. ... read more

On the road again and off to to Spain. We left the refuge after breakfast and headed on down the mountain to meet up with the tunnel leading to Spain.Crossing the Border at about 9 in the morning we headed on down towards Huesca. For the third day in a row we spotted a Heron (as in BIRD) this is Andys lucky animal and it certainly seems to have worked up till now.A brief stop at an amazing Monastery perched up on a hill and then it was on down to zaragossa. Our first impressions were of roads that were not quite up to the French standard that we had got used to.Navigating through the outskirts of zaragossa was pretty horrible. We were moving fast and wanting to get on down to Madrid if possible. We stopped for lunch at a ... read more

Waking up on thursday morning with the sun shining in the tent door was super.A quick breakfast and it was off out on to the road.We had a 09.30 start as we planned to do a little bit over 500 kms.We used the French Autoroute system which is really great.Fast roads and free moving traffic. We were able to keep up a good speed (between 80 - 90 MPH) (140 - 160 KMh) and in no time at all we were passing Toulouse and heading on towards Tarbes. We stopped for lunch at an autoroute service station and had a relaxing hour or so chilling with suprisingly good food. The next stop was a water and cafe stop at a Shell service place and there we were able to use the Free WIfi. We turned off the main road ... read more

The next day was weds. and Andy suggested a test run to get the feel for the bike.Grabbing our helmets we headed out and spent an hour or two in 30 degrees just driving around. We kitted up at one with full touring gear and headed off .Our first destination was to be a small place called La courille. This is the Holiday home of Paul and Christine who are from England. It was a trip of about 320 km and we arrived at about 18.00 after an uneventful journey. This is a really lovely area in the Dordogne and their house is perfectly situated.Shortly after arriving we all piled into the landrover and went out for a few predinner drinks at the local Chateau.Dinner was a BBQ and salad.Compliments to our hosts,it was really tasty and afterwards we ... read more
