Monday night - Tuesday was a short night with a horribly persistent mosquito using me as target practise.I finally gave up and at 05.30 got up to pack my bags.I was very suprised to find Siobhan (my sister)up and drinking tea out on the terrace.Sha has had a bad cough for a few days was not able to sleep. It was great to have a chat with her as we really do not see a lot of each other due to the fact that we live several countries apart. After about an hour Andy appeared and we just sat there and chatted as the night faded away and the sun slowly rose.I had had a great time with Andy all the way down and it was with mixed feelings that I finally set off for Cadiz.I would have been very happy to remain for several days as the company and the place really appealed to me.I hope I can return.
Out on the road at 07.30 and a lovely cool air which made driving such a pleasure.Ever aware of Radars,I kept to the speed limits (most of the time) and made good time passing thriugh Malaga,Marbella Torremolinos etc.The toll roads are more expensive
here in Spain compared to France and no difference is made between Bike and car !!! I made good time and stopped first for petrol after about 80 miles.Filling up, I pushed on and only stopped when the tank was almost empty again.By then I was not far away from Cadiz and had breakfast in a roadside bar.I arrived in Cadiz and it was all bustle and go.The mainstreet seems to run parallell to the beach and it is stop go,stop,go for several kilometers of traffic lights. At the end of the strip is the harbour and the ferry for the canaries. It was a long wait until we could board and I did not really want to leave the area and go into the city so it was a case of setle down and wait. I phoned to check up on my dogs (Harley and Suki) and all seems to be well. Many, many thanks to Sabine who took the MONSTERS for the time that I was away.As i was standing around by the bike waiting I saw a face thought I knew, The face belonged to Stefan who I first met on Fuerteventura nearly 25 years ago.He was returning from a
long trip around France and Spain in his camper. The last time I had met Stephan was in a motorcycle shop in Fuerteventura and he was driving a Fazer 1000.I asked him about the bike and he just smiled and opened up a door in the side of the camper and showed me a brand new BMW 1200 Gs that he was bringing back to Fuerte. I was Gobsmacked !! As the queue started heading towards the boat I heard someone calling my name and looked around to see Marisol and Mannolo who are the owners of INFOTEK (my local computer shop) .Anybody who knows me will know that I am often to found there.
Well,we finally got on the boat and I secured the bike the best that i could.....We will see........
I found my cabin and met the 3 other men that I will be sharing with.I had a quick shower to wash off the road dirt and headed up to the bar to get a sandwich and a beer.Standing at the bar I saw another face I knew,Kino,The owner of the Maxi sailing yacht that was based for years down in Morro jable. He was returning with his son
to Fuerteventura.
The boat is now leaving the harbour of Cadiz so I am going to go up on deck.
