Today was still cloudy - but hey ho never mind. Gorgious cinimon toast for brekkie mmmmmm With full tummies we went for a walk on the South bank, along the river, a pretty area with flowers and walk ways. There was a river trip on a ferry, and it seemed rude not to go- so we went. A very pleasant relaxing 1.5 hours with a guided commentry, before we knew it, it was time for lunch - all i seem to do is eat !!! so a bit of lunch on board. After our exhausting boat trip we walked along the bank and came upon Street Beach which does what it says on the tin ..... a man made beach in the middle of a city, lovely with sand, palm trees and warm water lagoon. So I arrived last night in Brisbane, and met up with Paul who I met in sydney. We went to a 24 hour pancake house and had the mother of all pancakes !!! mine was apple studel with ice cream .... OMG it was worth the trip to Brizzie just for that. Up early to be greeted with cloud and spit spots of rain !!!!!!! I was truly stunned ..... as someone said before me "One was not amused" We decided to go on a 3 hour trip around the city with a guide, funny guy who obviously wants to be on the stage as he was very annimated and made it interesting. Lots of "history" if you can call the last 190 years history. Apparetly Brisbane was the part where the real bqad boy convicts ... read more

David announced that there was a Huntsman spider in his shed if I wanted peep, so never to miss an opportunity I gingerly peeked inside to see the big blighter all snug in a corner. This morning I was up and about long before Julie, who was a tad delicate. After our regular 2 hour chat we went for a dip in the pool. I being still of British stock walked in saying "ah this is lovely" Julie on the other hand has become an Ozzie big girls blouse !!! "oooooo its freezing, oooooo its too cold" she moaned .............. come on girl remember where your roots are - Manchester !!! its always cold and wet there. We had a verrry lazy morning doing nothing but pool and sunning ourselves and a few drinks both hot and cold. I did hang out the washing ....... I was exhausted after. Then Julie and Myself went 10 mins down the road to Harley crocadile park. It was really really good, a smallish park ... read more

Up early again to see Julie already on veranda reading her book at 6.30am. We talked about a million things and before we knew it - it was 9.30 so it was time for a dip in the pool. Weather was glorious sunshine so it was lovely to just float around (with cozzie on this time). There are lots of beautiful birds around and Julie knows all their names, not individual names you understand, that would be silly, but the name of the species. Let me give you a quick resume of Julie and Daves house, it is in 2 acres of land that has lots of huge tropical trees and plants all around it. The house is white and very tall and long, the bedrooms are downstairs with bathrooms obviously. Upstairs is the living area, ... read more

I woke early (as usual) and clamboured down from my top bunk ever so daintily (not!) and off for my early morning cuppa. At 8.30 I and about 25 others went for our champagne breakfast in a tropical park that is part of the resort where the hostel is. We had an enormouse breakfast and lots of animals were brought around for us to look at and stroke. I sat with an ozzie family who were staying here for easter weekend, and they we had a great time together. First up was a wombat who was very cute and cuddly, then it was a python, then a small crock (mouth taped closed) parrots and last but not least koala ..... aaaahhhh . The guide told us that they are solitary animals and when its mating season ... read more
