well !!! where do i start ..... i cut across country to Ayutthia and had about 5 hours there so i did a quick minibus tour around the city that took us (me and a german couple) to the temple ruins that were all lit up as it was night time, i payed my respects to the budda and the king - and for 20p got a good luck lotus flower of a gypsy lady ! them the adventure began ........ the overnight train was meant to leave at 9pm and arrive 12 hours later in Chiang mai , i met Tim and Wendy the canadian couple that i went to the waterfalls with in hte train station their train was due to leave at 11.30pm . well ive done all i want in Kanchanaburi so ive just booked a bus to Ayuttahya which is the old capital of Siam, before it was Thailand and Bangkok, (little history lesson i thought i'd throw in for ya) . i'm just there for a few hours then at 9pm tonight i'm on the famous (or should that be infamous) overnight train to Chiang Mai - 12hours in a bottom bunk. so i'm hoping for an adventurous journey. Thank god my children have finally got to reply to me !!!! it was lovely to tlak to joanne last night , i have phones Vicki three times now but shes obvioulsy the noise of the vaccum is stopping her from hearing the phone !!!!!! love you all its fab reading your messages , so sorry its cold ... read more

well today has been a day of chilled outness, had a foot massage that lasted one hour .... heaven for my poor feet, thank god for granuflex to cussion those darned blisters ! The Thai people are very friendly and helpfull - ive not been hastled at all - infact the opposite they are happy to help i then went to a guesthouse that has a pool that you can use for the day .... so obviously it has been a tough old day laying on a sun lounger and drinking water and lemon iced tea. well i have just had the greatest day, i had just my breckie and saw Wendy the canadian girl i met yersturday and we got chatting, i asked her what she was doing today and she said Erawan waterfalls and seeing that i was thinking of going today or tomorrow i asked if they would mind if i tagged along, (i did give her the option of saying no with no offence, honestly) anyway to my delight she said they would be glad for me to go with them, so off we set ......... we got on a very crouded local bus with fans and open windows so really cool once we set off. before we did though started talking to a british older (hahaha) couple who were going mad about the time they had been ... read more

so here i am in an internet cafe after a really fabulous da. I arrrived in Kanchanaburi (which is on the River Kwai) after a very pleasant 2 hour local bus jouney. I was met by a nice tuk tuk driver "where you go madam ?" i said i hadnt decided yet so he said he'd take me to several places to choose and true to his word he "tuk" me ! and i chose the third one. Its a tiny little wooden hut thats on stilts over the River Kwai and its very basic - fan, COLD shower, and non flushing toilet !!! in answer to suzies question alas the top deck was cattle class but it did have extra leg room !! its just gone 9.30pm here and i'm sitting in a lovely A/C room in the lovelyest of hotels , they even remember my name. ive just got back from Khoa san Road again, ive had my toe and finger nails painted this eve, and soaked up the fab atmosphere there, i wanted to sit and have a cheeky cocktail in a bar but i felt this was prob a step to soon !!!! dont panic mum and marilyn i am sensible :) so today i walked to the river and caught a boat and went up and down the whole of the river, saw lots of sights, it was lovely and cool, coz believe me its ... read more

Whoo hoo i'm here !!!!!!! I had a great flight it was a doubledecker plane and I was on top deck, it was 11 hours and I was too excited to sleep. Off the plane and dodging the taxi touts I managed to find the bus to my hotel. I sat next to a really nice English girl who has been travelling since august, who reassred me I'm going to have a fab time. I got off and found my hotel really easy ( I know !!!) I amazed myself to be honest. It's a really quaint little guest house with half of the bathroom in the open air. Quick shower then out to Khoa San Road which is the backpackers mecca.
