I woke up at 5:30AM local time and 12:30AM EST to begin my journey. Train ride to Glasgow followed by taxi to the airport and a flight from Philadelphia. Flight was ok and the meal was tasty for airline food. After landing in Philadelphia we had an hour wait to go through security but the TSA worker tried to keep everyone's spirits up reminding us we were in the city of Brotherly love. Some people commented we were not feeling the love with all the searches going on. Everyone had a good laugh about that. I had 6 hour layover in Philadelphia and I debated heading into the city for some cheese steaks but I was advised against it by the airport information desk so I had settle on a disappointing and a very expensive cheese ... read more

Last full day in Scotland. I woke up early and checked out of the BlueSky Hostel. I don't have the highest opinion of this place but it was clean and reasonably quiet. Train left Glasgow Central station for Waverly Station in Edinburgh at 6AM. Train system in the UK is very efficient and a lot of people use train to get around. Exiting the station at 7AM I wandered around the Royal Mile until I found my hostel the Royal Mile Backpacker. It's a small hostel but had good reviews on Hostelbooker. I couldn't check in until 2PM so I went and grab breakfast. This proved more difficult than I thought because most places were not serving breakfast until around 9AM. I finally found this small café where I bought a Bacon bap, which is essentially ... read more

Today is the day and it is time for me to search for my White Whale (Nessie). Woke up early and packed a day pack for the long coach ride up north. I had booked my tour with a company called Rabbies. It is not an infectious disease company but I thought the name was kind of funny so I chose them. Price was reasonable, only $40 Canadian. The tour was in a 16 seat coach and we had 14 people on this tour. It was a nice mix of people from a pair of sisters from Florida to a nice lady from Italy. On the way up to Loch Ness our driver, Graham told us about Scottish history and we stopped frequently to take pictures and to take breaks. I will say Scotland reminds a ... read more

I have arrived in Manchester which is now the farthest north I have ever been in the United Kingdom. I spoke briefly with the border person who asked why I was in England. I explained that I was there to see my favorite band The Primitives. I was a bit disappointed to hear another person tell me they had never heard of The Primitives, Oh Well. I was not sure how to get into the city center or Old Trafford stadium but after wandering around a bit I found the train station where a nice railway employee advised me how to take a train to Manchester Picadilly station and from there a tram to Old Trafford. In case you are not aware Old Trafford Stadium is the playing grounds of the Manchester United football team. Tram ... read more

The day has arrived and it is time for me to make my way to Buffalo to catch my flight. I booked my flight through Travelocity and it was only $580 but to get it this cheap my flights were a bit round about. I would fly from Buffalo to Philadelphia and than to Manchester, England. On the way home I would fly out of Glasgow and than to Philadelphia before arriving in Toronto. This made it tricky because I could not drive myself to the airport. After going through various options I opted for a Greyhound bus from Mississauga to Buffalo because it was $16. Greyhound bus was comfortable and I mostly slept and listen to music until we reached the USA border. I have crossed the border often enough that I can handle myself ... read more

Ok last day in Halifax and I spent a hour or so looking for a breakfast spot. Some cafés in Halifax don't open on Sunday and a few others don't open until 9AM. I finally found one that was also a convenience store. It was decent and the coffee was better than I expected. I got back to the hostel and took a shower and packed up. The hostel allows people to store their luggage on the day they are leaving so I didn't have to drag mine around the city. First stop of the day was a free walking tour. I can afford the paid tours but I prefer the free ones because it is more interactive with your guide and the guides usually have more interesting stories. The tour started at the Citadel which ... read more

Woke up that morning and my roommates were still sleeping so I slipped out of the room quietly. Reception recommended a small diner nearby for breakfast. The food was not really that good and I believe they gave me old eggs as well :(. I quickly packed a day pack with what I would need for my day in PEI. I went to Budget rent a car to get my small car which turned out to be a Fiat 500. I have never driven a 2 door car before so it took some getting use to but I made it out of Halifax without any problems. On the highway the Fiat didn't have a great deal of acceleration so I will have to remember that. To make sure I wouldn't get lost I brought my GPS ... read more

Woke up at 4AM for my flight to Halifax. My Air Canada flight left at 6:30AM and it was the 2nd earliest flight I have ever taken behind a 5AM Berlin flight. Since it was so early I didn't want to ask someone to drive me so I would be using Park N Fly near the airport. Drove to the Park N Fly location but I should have checked closer because I pulled into the Valet parking lot. It was too late to leave so I just went with in and it wasn't that expensive. I didn't have any checked baggage and had done online check in the night before so I just went straight to security and my gate. Flight was uneventful and was just 2 hours. I did enjoy using the inflight entertainment system ... read more

Final day and I was sad to know 2 weeks had already past and it was time for our group to part ways. I went down for breakfast and I was so sad I only drank some juice. I talked a bit with the rest of the table and it was good to know that we had all survived our time in Amsterdamage. We left 6 people behind in Amsterdam Gillon, Ken, Patrina, Zakiyya, Sherri and Nardine. I made sure I hugged all of them either the night before or that morning. It was really early in the morning and everyone was hungover from the night before. Everyone got their hugs in with the people we were leaving behind and we loaded the coach. It was a quiet ride to Brugge, Belgium which would be our ... read more

Woke up in the morning and saw all the guys made it back from Amsterdamage. It had been a long time since I was high and combined with the alcohol from last night I expected a bad hangover but I only had smoke floating in my head and no headache. Learned that morning everyone got back OK but we had some bad reactions to the drugs from last night. Still had the 1/4 of the space cake in my pocket so reminded myself to eat it or get rid of it before I got back to London. Got a ride into the city to Mike's Bikes where we would get a bike tour. The Dutch are crazy for bike riding and you can see by the huge bike garages and the number of riders. Our group ... read more
