Today our goal was to go to Freeport to the outlet malls. Since both of us had gift cards to LLBean and Freeport is LLBean’s home, we were all excited. Trip up was uneventful. Found the right exit and there was the town. Actually Freeport is more than LLBean, there is an entire outlet center, but by far LLBean is the cornerstone. First there is corporate headquarters, the outlet store, the hiking and fishing store, the home store and the giant regular retail store. We managed to spend most of our money at the outlet store, but Carol got some other things at the retail store. I need to tell you that all the LLBean stores are not in one place, but scattered throughout downtown. Before we went to the retail store, we stopped at the Corning ... read more

We are finally here. This place is adorable, and is a half block from the bakery and an ice cream shop. More on here later. Figure I better catch everyone up on our travels the past two days. Headed out from Carol’s Sunday morning with Boston in our sights. Checked into our hotel and headed to historic downtown Boston. We were really lucky. Had no problem getting downtown and finding parking. We were less than a block from Fanuiel Hall. stopped at a visitor Center to get a map of Freedom Trail and check out the street artists and the Portuguese Festival. after that things went downhill in a hurry. Boston has changed so much that it was hard to find anything I recognized. Only place we found was the old Granary Cemetery when Benjamin Franklin, ... read more

Made it here yesterday afternoon, just before granddaughter and daughter got home. Was granddaughter’s Instrumental music banquet dinner last night, so Andy and I went to Sakura’s Japanese’s restaurant for dinner. Never could figure out why they give so much food at those hibachi places. Appetizer choices included 2 shrimp or sautéed mushrooms. Andy and I both picked the mushrooms, me because my dinner was shrimp and scallops, him because he is allergic to shellfish. Before the appetizers though, Dinner included onion soup and a salad. I really like the soup, just a clear broth with bits of green onion and a mushroom. I am not crazy about sesame ginger dressing, it no real matter because things were just beginning. The fry guy started us off with what looked like over a cup of fried rice ... read more

Two days behind, so will try to catch up. Weather was even clearer second day of travel. Spent night in Cornelius NC, about 50 miles north of Charlotte. Charlotte can be rough to drive through, so wanted to be further north Before stopped. Stayed right before Lake Norman which is a large rambling lke. You actually cross parts of it three times. I was very impressed with the town. it seems to be very conscious of it‘s Heritage and old town feeling despite being pretty large. My motel was off a main road, but nestled among old trees that cut the traffic noise way down. I asked at the desk about places to go and the nice lady sent me to Birkdale Commons, which is a modern area with shops and restaurants below and two stories ... read more

Thought it might be time to take this up again, sooooooo here I am overnight in Savannah. Planned this trip in January. Since my favorite grandson is graduating on his birthday, it was inevitable I would be heading north. Decided after all the trips I made that this one would be slightly different. Instead of pushing myself as far as I could each day, I would divide it into three days. Was kind of worried after this weekend’s subtropical storm because the weather channel predicted the storm would follow me all the way. Thank goodness they were very wrong. Day was overcast, but no rain. Went to the Crab Shack on Tybee Island for dinner and treated myself to dungness crab. Really neat restaurant with an alligator lagoon out front. No big gators though, longest was ... read more

Well, my last big weekend on Hawaii is over. I fly out of here tomorrow in the am, hitting SeaTac around 10pm Pacific time. Going to spend Wednesday with Ralph and Milly and then have an early flight to BWI Thursday. The condo was marvelous all weekend. Just for everyone's info, Jeanne finished the full marathon, her friend Susan finished the half marathon, and me... I completed my first ever 5K. Jeanne had been telling me all along I could do it, and after we spent one morning swimming twice in the ocean (I did deep water running with a belt), climbing a steep hill for coffee and tea and then walking a really long way on A'lii street to have lunch and then all the way back to the parking lot near the pier where ... read more

Jeanne and I checked into this Vacation Rental by Owner condo in Waikoloa Villas. Really nice place, much nicer than a hotel. We each have our own bedroom and bath, a lanai, kitchen, dining room and living room. There are three tv's here, figured out how to work the two remotes in the living room this morning, but now I am in my room because could not figure out which way to Make them work again. Yesterday we went to the Queen's Marketplace which is about two blocks away, checking out all the shops. Then we came back to the condo, changed into our suits and headed to the pool. There are two of them here. Really beautiful pools, but it amazes me that on an island that is the result of thousands and thousands of ... read more

Time is really slipping away quickly. Already the 22nd and I leave the 27th. Yesterday I went back to Hapuna for probably the last time this trip. Water was amazing as usual. Really starting kicking up about the time I was leaving. Got there before 8:30 and the sky was so clear I could see the observatories up on Maura Kea. I am always thrilled by that sight. Anytime we go out that way I am constantly looking for a glimpse. Also had my second Cryo day. Was very cold, like minus 144 degrees in the chamber, but it was over 90 outside so unbelievably it was rather refreshing. Good thing it is only for 3 minutes though. Started getting cold at the end. But the facial was fine. Face felt better. Jeanne made us Ahi ... read more

Wow, cannot believe it has been three days since I last wrote anything. Not that things have not been happening, just not much new. I think Jeanne is trying to turn me into an athlete, or at least get me in crazy good shape. With Larry fishing in a tournament the last three days, we have been getting pretty much exercise on our own. A sewage pipe broke downtown near the King Kamehameha hotel closing the pier and beach there to any activities for a few days. Meant we had to go somewhere else. Went to the community pool and it was great. Jeanne hit the lap lanes in the pool specifically set up for lap swim while I went to the other bigger pool. It was chopped up into several diffeeent areas using the blue lane ... read more

Not much going on right now, so do not think I have forgotten to write. Yesterday was not a good day for swimming, so I ended up shopping for dinner and doing things areound here. Made Shrimp Scampi with linguini for dinner. Today Jeanne and I took the two dogs to the vet. Cayo was in great shape except he gained weight. Jeanne has to treat him when she treats Abaco. So now she has to cut down on his meals to make up for the treats. Found out Abaco is much older than they thought. Everyone thought he as about a year and a half, but the vet says he is closer to four. They believe because he lived under such bad conditions that his growth is stunted. He is not in that bad of ... read more
