my head phones are on, listening to ac/dc thunderstruck, sitting with my legs in the pool, attached to our room and michelle is sunbathing. we like thailand again. the place we are staying in is out of this world. everyone has pool access from their room and there is a bar every 50 metres along the pool (it stretches like a river all round the hotel). the weather is brilliant here and there is a good breeze going past our section of the pool so we're really enjoying it. i have two red knees now where they were over exposed to the sun and michelle has two had prints on either thigh from the way she was sunbathing! last night we walked up and down the koh san road and got some street food and had ... read more

Bangkok got better after I entered our last blog. Still feeling out of sorts we headed to an Italian restaurant and had pizza (and a few beers!) the area we are staying in is something to be seen at night and we will take photos later to post on our next blog. After our feed we had a stroll on the koh san road and went into another bar. There we had a few more drinks watching the people go by. Not content with our quite surroundings we headed to the roof top bar, which had a really good Thai band playing western music. There we had plenty more and ended up having a really good night. When going to bed I decided that I was going to get up this morning and not let the ... read more

if we thought trekking up a tough mountain in very hot weather was tough, bangkok is harder. every where you go people are harrassing you and trying to openly con you out of your money(mainly taxi drivers and tuk-tuks). i like it here but, there is a lot not to like. there is a lot of those loud arrogant obnoxious type here. i will have photos soon of the street we are staying on and it looks cool but you need a lot of energy to walk it, or maybe even will power. we decided that if you cant beat 'em, join 'em, so we are gonna head for a few drinks later. today we headed for the MBK shopping centre knowing that dunkin dounghts and armani staff arent trained to harass you! this place was ... read more

i am now in bangkok and it is completely different to Chiang mai but ill get on to that in awhile. i had a nice big entry two days ago and when i went to put it on, the internet crashed and i lost nearly 1 hrs typing, so it makes this entry hard to write. we headed out for paddy's day anyway and it wasn't that much of a night. the Irish pub was full of Australians, English and Americans all thinking that Guinness tastes great. it was funny to see women knocking back big pints of Guinness, obviously not knowing what it can do the next day! of course Michelle the lady that she is, only drank glasses! we got up the next day and went to a Thai cookery class. it was good ... read more

hello everyone. i think we'll remember today for a long time. it was pretty cool. we were collected today at 8am with two Americans (Max & Gina) to go trekking. first we drove for an hour in to the mountains and then trekked up more mountains to meet a hill tribe. it was a hard trek up but worth it in the end. the people live such simple lives. then we headed on some more till we got to an elephant camp. here we took a trek and an elephant for about an hour and of course we got then wild one. you had to buy bananas to feed them and ours was the greediest of the lot. he wouldn't move unless we fed him. his bananas didn't last long! near the end of our trek ... read more

16/03/2008 5:51pm (local time) where do we start? for starters everything is fine and we got here ok. it was a long journey but worth it in the end. we arrived in Chiang Mai yesterday and we were collected at the airport by the son of the owner of the place we are staying at. a short journey to the outskirts of the city and we arrived to our accommodation. Fern Paradise is the name of the place and it is unreal. our room/tree hut is surrounded by all sorts of tree's and wildlife( when we fell asleep for a while we were both awoken and scared s**tl**s by some sort of large bird squalling ). we then got up and headed into the city but not before the resort owner rang us a taxi and ... read more

Darren well the journey i've been eat, sleep and drinking for the last 6 months is finally here. tomorrow myself and Michelle will hit the road for Dublin for our flight at 6 a.m. on Friday morning. three weeks of no work. we're fairly gonna rack up the air miles (22,000 in total) and 7 different flights, enough of a carbon footprint for a few years. first up is Chiang Mai for 4 nights before we get an overnight (14hr) train to bangkok where we will spend two nights. Then its on to Phuket for two nights where Michelle is booked in for a couple of days in the spa so i suppose ill go too, to keep her company!! Finally we head to Phi Phi, to a small resort with a beach only 150 meters ... read more
