Because you can't remember where you've been! Ok so last blog saw us arriving after 10 hours on the bus in Boston, the first night we stayed on the Liberty Clipper which was interesting, tiny cabins, tiny communal loo and a shower not to be attempted. Met a couple of lovely girls who were on a sailing holiday and real boat enthusiasts, also Bluto who worked on the Liberty and had a good chat. Managed to get a good nights sleep probably due to exhaustion and sea sickness tablets (yes I know we were moored but it was still on the water!!). Next day we took part in the Boston Tea Party - aimed more at kids but quite fun, we didnt get lynched fortunately! We moved on to the HI Hostel at Boston Uni - ... read more

Weh hey! I'm typing this on a greyhound bus that has wifi and even managed to find the service station we have stopped at! Ok so we left Montreal this morning at 10.45 and the driver announced the lights werent working so we were going to stop and wait for a replacement but at some airport, so an 8 hour bus journey is now taking about 10 hours ah well. It was very scary crossing the border into the usa as we were all herded into a room, a police car blocked the bus off so it couldnt move and we were all shouted at very loudly by a customs officer who immediately made you feel guilty! One by one you were questioned and then told you could go, except for 2 girls who got taken ... read more

I'm sat on the train typing this after we have just spent 2 nights in Quebec and we are now on our way to Montreal and it's the Foo Fighters tonight! We stayed in the HI Hostel which was in a great old building all wood and corridors going off everywhere - it really reminded me of the hostelling days of my youth ha ha. Downside was it was full of kids on organised trips etc all rushing around in the corridors and boys trying to get into the girls rooms and vice versa! We had a room for 2 with bunk beds (again), enough said. The place is really French, all the signs are in french, everyone talks french, the cafes and restaurants are all french serving french stuff, except for Mc Donalds! It's very ... read more

We are now in Ottawa after travelling by train from Toronto which was all fine, managed to find the bus from the station and have now spent the night banged up in Ottawa Jail! Block 6 Cell 6. Yes ok its a hostel now but the rooms are all the original cells and you sleep in bunks. It's quite an amazing place and slept better than I did in Toronto in the supposed hostel there. Which turned out to be a room in a chinese boarding house, we were right next to the bathroom and all night long people were in and out, the bed was as hard as a board and made your bones ache! Today we are staying at the Barefoot Hostel (named because you cant wear shoes!) it is really lovely but it ... read more

After a great night spent on the porch chatting to other travellers w.e left Niagra USA which was calm and lovely and walked across the Rainbow Bridge into Canada, which was just like Blackpool! What a contrast, great if you wanted to spend a fortune, play in the arcades, visit the waxworks etc - none of which we really wanted to do! However the views of the falls were spectacular and we spent ages just looking and went back again at night to see them lit up. We actually stayed in a really nice motel type of place with a gigantic bed, air con and a massive whirlpool bath (!), a shower you could stay in for as long as you liked, toilets that flushed no matter how much loo roll you used and other such ... read more

Well after a 9 hour train journey we have got to Niagra Falls on the usa side. Those amtrak trains are really nice, just wish they had a seat reservation system instead of a free for all! Checked into the Wanderfalls Hostel (lol) which is a lovely old house but only has 2 bathrooms for about 20 guests! Today we visited the falls and oh my god they are totally awesome! I loved it!!!!! Went to the Cave of Winds which was fantastic and got totally soaked despite wearing the yellow mac, it was great! Went on the Maid of the Mist and got totally soaked despite wearing the blue mac and it was great too! You can not begin to describe the power of the water it is just incredible. There has been major developments ... read more

Had a bizarre meal at Mars 2112 - only recommended if you have kids with you! Hi, we arrived really late last night after an extra long journey due to delays etc and the wait from hell to get through customs. Oh yes and BA were rubbish this time, late as needed a new 1st officer (dont know what happened to the old one), delays on the runway (but fell asleep so that wasn't too bad!) and then worst of all the interactive inflight entertainment wasnt working! However we did have 3 films out of the millions that should have been available so saw Red Riding, Limitless (pretty good) and fell asleep through some roman film. Anyway today we have walked for miles and miles - just like everyone said we would. Went up the rockerfeller tower thing, toured Radio City and NBC studios, covered every inch of times square about 10 ... read more
