Because you can't remember where you've been!
Ok so last blog saw us arriving after 10 hours on the bus in Boston, the first night we stayed on the Liberty Clipper which was interesting, tiny cabins, tiny communal loo and a shower not to be attempted. Met a couple of lovely girls who were on a sailing holiday and real boat enthusiasts, also Bluto who worked on the Liberty and had a good chat. Managed to get a good nights sleep probably due to exhaustion and sea sickness tablets (yes I know we were moored but it was still on the water!!). Next day we took part in the Boston Tea Party - aimed more at kids but quite fun, we didnt get lynched fortunately! We moved on to the HI Hostel at Boston Uni - there students have much bigger and better equipped rooms than ours do! I either had bed bugs or fleas in my bed however and now have little red bite marks all over my legs - lovely!
Boston is a really nice city and we splurged on a trolley bus pass (managed to convince the lad to let us have it at student rates
lol) and spent the next 2 days hopping on and off and exploring all Boston had to offer, if you go Quincey Market is a great place, loads of lovely food stalls - dont bother with the restuarants and a great atmosphere. All Boston'd out we then attempted to get to Atlantic City - it started off alright we found the mega bus stop and it was on time, Howard bagged the 2 front seats on the top deck and then we sat and waited and waited - the luggage door wouldnt close, after an hour and for no apparent reason it suddenly decided to shut and we set off. It was absolutely chucking it down and I think our driver decided to try and make up some lost time. We were bombing along when suddenly we stopped - in the middle of the 4 lane road and state trooper was doing our driver for speeding! 40 minutes later we finally set off again, got to Phili and then had to run to the train station, queue for tickets and with minutes to spare jump on the train to Atlantic City. 1 1/2 hours later we arrived, total travelling time
about 12 hours! Aaaarrrrggggghhhhhhh.
Hopped on the free casino bus, pretended we were staying at the Tropicana casino, got off and walked round the corner to our seedy motel! The guy on the desk was broad New Jersey and so we could hardly understand a word he said, found our room, staggered out for food and went to bed. What an odd bed it was really soft but with a massive slope on one side down to the other half, so in the morning I had to pull my self up the slope to get out!!
Next day started off sunny so we did the Boardwalk, the pier etc then it rained and rained and rained, there was a practise going on for the next day's big airshow (we hadnt known about this) but even that got rained off in the end! So nowt for it but to hit the casino! It took ages to find a vaguely normal slot machine and then I ended up winning 86 cents (30pish)! but provided a good hours entertainment so not bad. Next day we watched the start of the airshow which was very patriotic and then headed off for the
train.
