Asia » Thailand January 12th 2011

Hey guys, I just wanted to let everyone know that after a very long four days I have finally made it to Thailand. We had a lay over in Japan that gave us just a bit of what Japan is like we headed off to Thailand. Here we have been taking saftey lessons, language lessons, and also preformed some karaoke. Well I'm exhausted and I'll be sure to update this and include LOTS of pictures. Love you all, thank you for supporting me on my crazy journeys!!! ... read more

North America » United States » Texas » Houston October 1st 2010

Day One: Now to be completely honest I never had any true desire to go to Texas, at least not with so many other places out there to go but when a friend texted me if I wanted to go I said why not. After searching through travel site after travel site we found ourselves a rather cheap deal and booked it. When the first weekend of October arrived it was rainy and disgusting here in New Jersey and the two of us were ready to head out to some gorgeous Texas weather. The quick flight brought us right there and it really was some amazing weather. We grabbed our rental car and headed out to our hotel. We stayed at the Baymont Inn which is right off the freeway, or some freeway because everything seems ... read more

North America » Canada » Ontario » Peterborough September 28th 2010

Even though I had a trip planned for Texas in just four days I decided to take a spontaneous trip up to Peterborough Ontario to visit some of my friends from Costa Rica. I headed off early Tuesday driving almost ten hours straight through Pennsylvania then New York and finally into Ontario. This time of year the drive was really quite spectacular. For most of the trip I was basically on one road and the further north I went the more the leaves were changing. I crossed the border into Ontario and had another two hours to go. Eventually I made it to Peterborough and made it to my friends house. After food shopping and then catching up on what each of us where up to we headed out to a local bar to continue talking ... read more

I suppose most people go on vacation to the Bahamas to lounge by the beach or the pool, drinking fancy drinks with little umbrellas in them, and to go on some fantastic excursions. While all of that is well and good, and completely accomplished by us, my family probably spent most of our time hanging at the bar watching the World Cup. Come on it only comes around once every four years so we couldn't miss a single game!! My family took a vacation down to the island and stayed at the beautiful Hyatt Resort. We missed the first game in the morning so after checking in, taking a quick look around the place we found the largest T.V and got to watching the game. After two hours of screaming at the television my brothers and ... read more

I am here in Monteverde, Costa Rica working at the Butterfly Garden. What could be better, surrounded by nature and teaching people about the different insects found here in Costa Rica. It's a dream come true really. I am working as a volunteer and although I don't get paid they provide a room and food so there isn't much more I need. I moved into the kitchen, where I live in a tiny loft that even when you kneel I'll hit my head, but in reality how much space does one really need. I can lay my head down and I have a warm blanket and if I need a midnight snack all I need to do is climb down my latter and grab one. I do share this room though, which I am sure you ... read more

This February I decided to volunteer in Monteverde, Costa Rica but before I made my way there my brother and father came on down with me for a five day road trip. We headed out bright and early grabbing a flight from A.C. to Georgia and then continuing on down to San Jose, Costa Rica. Once there we picked up our car and headed off. Driving in Costa Rica is an experience. There are basically no road signs, cars go flying by you, and some of the roads aren't paved. We grabbed our map and tried to make our way across to Manuel Antonio. Now it really isn't that easy to do and we got ourselves nice and turned around. But after a few hours of driving around and around we finally made our way to ... read more

Oceania » Fiji June 25th 2009

This morning we woke up ridiculously early and were picked up by our taxi. We headed to the airport where we checked in and got ready to head off to FIJI! The three of us boarded our plane and off we went. The ride was short and sweet and before we knew it we were at the hotel. The hotel is really quite lovely and our room is fantastic! With just two beds, Meghan and I would be sharing one and Greg had the other. A nice little cheese and fruit platter was sitting on the table awaiting us and at the sight of it we we all knew this was going to be a good time. We took a short walk around the area and noticed that the beach wasn't exactly the kind of beach ... read more

Oceania » Australia » New South Wales » Sydney » Sydney Harbour June 20th 2009

After tearful goodbyes in Perth, I am heading over to Sydney to spend just three days before Meghan, Greg and I head on over to Fiji. My cab picked me up at 4am Saturday and drove me over to the airport where I spent most of the time tearing up thinking that I was saying goodbye to all my friends. The flights not long and goes by fast and once there I see Meghan immediately. It is good to see her and her relatives. For the first night here in Sydney we are all staying at her Aunt and Uncles. It is awesome of them to hook us up for the evening. I am exhausted from traveling and staying up all night, but it is cool to be in Sydney. It is a relaxing day where ... read more

As a international student at Murdoch University, we were offered an amazing opportunity to take a trip around Western Australia. The Northwest Trip is offered to all study abroad students and you would be crazy to pass it up! It covers around 2,500 miles across the plains and outback of North West of Western Australia and it is an awesome trip. Day One: The day starts out bright and early. We walk out to see two bus waiting for us, and here we pack up and get ready to leave. It was early, and many people including myself had gone out the night before so many of us feel asleep on the bus because we had quite a bit of driving ahead of us. The view out your window is interesting, lots and lots of red ... read more

Oceania » Australia » Western Australia » Denmark March 16th 2009

For being apart of the Environmental Program with CIEE, the five of us got to go on a Regional Trip together to Denmark in the South West of Western Australia. It is a three day trip where we will be staying at the Centre for Sustainable Living. Day One: The day started out early where we all piled into a van and headed off to Denmark. The Centre is really quite impressive. It has passive solar design, solar panels for space heating, on site waste water management, their own wetland and probably so much more that I don't remember. It is a really interesting place to show you how green you can really become. There are several room that we each grabbed and through our bags in and then we headed out to the beach. A ... read more
