Geo: 41.1385, -81.4837As this was our last full day we were determined to make the most of it. So we got up and headed to the National Park, firstly we had to find the visitors centre. We found it and gained some tips on places to visit. Today it was a very hot day with temperatures reaching up to 35 degrees. The first place we had to visit was the Brandywine Falls. This was somewhere we had to drive to as a bridge on the trail had collapsed during some heavy rain. We found the car park and walked down the wooden path. The falls were very pretty and we went to 3 different viewing points to look at it from all angles. The next trail we went on was the Ledges Trial - but first we had ... read more

Geo: 43.0955, -79.0559Last night we had been given a tip that we could park for free at the casino in Niagara, so this is where we headed to park the car. The American side of the falls was a National Park so we were able to gain information on the best places to visit and all within a beautiful setting. We set off on a walk along the river gorge which fed the American Falls, these were fierce rapids and not an area we would recommend to go white water rafting. This brought us to a bridge which straddled the river gorge and lead us to Goat Island.Once we were safely across to the other side we took a short trail which took us on a small bridge. This took us across to Luna Island which ... read more

Geo: 43.0955, -79.0559Today we spent a second day on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls, and our first call was breakfast so we found a pancake house. Nicky opted for the sensible option of french toast and Simon opted for an all you can eat pancake and scrambled egg special - suffice to say Simon failed in his attempt to bankrupt them! With our stomachs full we walked through town in very hot weather until we reached the Skylon Tower. This was a very tall tower which offered panoramic views over Niagara and more importantly views of the American Falls and the Horseshoe Falls. This did not disappoint and you could see everything and as it was relatively quiet you had all the time you wanted to admire the spectecular views. We then ventured down to ... read more

Geo: 43.1066, -79.0642Today we were at the beautiful site of Niagara Falls. As this was such a popular tourist location we firstly wanted to head to the Maid of the Mist. We bought our tickets, picked up our souvenir ponchos and climbed onboard. We choose to stand right at the front at the bow of the boat and we got underway. The falls were spectacular and being so close to them was immense. We headed into the mist of the Horseshoe Falls and we got soaked, but our ponchos saved us! Back on dry land we walked up the street and headed to Denny's for a spot of breakfast. We then decided to go on the Sky Wheel which was a 175 foot tall ferris wheel which promised views over Niagara Falls. It didn't let us ... read more

Geo: 43.6485, -79.3854Today we had the day to explore Toronto, and we set off headed towards the CN tower. On the way we stopped off for a spot of brunch at a cafe - Simon had a crepe with fresh fruit and custard and Nicky had creeps and French toast with fresh fruit. After this delicious brunch we headed to the CN Tower and once we had purchased the tickets we were on our way. The tower required us to take an elevator to a observatory capsule - this gave us views over the city of Toronto and onto Lake Ontario. Apparently on a clear day you can see Niagara Falls but we couldn't see them today. There was also a glass floor and although this was full of people pulling questionable poses you could see ... read more

Geo: 45.0284, -74.7357As we had a long 5 hour drive to Toronto from Montreal we dedicated today as a day of rest/ leisurely drive. We had decided to try and find a state park or a spot by the lake for a picnic so the hunt was on for a nice place to have it. After gathering some crisps, chocolate and Subway sandwich we set off.The drive was pretty straightforward but around lunchtime we looked out for a spot to enjoy out earlier finds. We spotted an exit promising a national park but got impatient and spotted a public park on the lake shore. We enjoyed a brief rest and a bite to eat before getting back on the road again. We continued our drive without any hiccups even negotiating our way through Toronto to our hotel. ... read more

Geo: 45.5075, -73.5587Today we were in the very French city of Montreal - the transformation from was such that it actually felt we were in France! This was a nice place and had quite a European feel to it. We set off to the first call of the day which was Notre Dame Basilica. This was set in a lovely square where we spent some time enjoying the sun and people watching. We then entered the Basilica which was breath taking - it was so beautiful and the whole thing was so intrinsically decorated. There was also a wedding chapel which was behind the main alter and this was amazing and had a large bronze sculpture behind the alter.Once back in the square Nicky spotted a Christmas shop and insisted we visited despite Simons insistence that ... read more

Geo: 44.0456, -71.6706Today we were going to the White Mountain National Forest and the night before during dinner the waitress suggested driving the Kancamagus Highway. Our first call was to the visitor centre to pick up guides and maps. As there was warning of storms and even flash floods we opted to buy some rather retching rain ponchos. We set off on the highway stopping off for a quick trail along the Pemigwasset River. This was set within large fir trees and was very pretty. On the way we stopped at some scenic overlooks but they were hampered by low clouds. We persevered and stopped at Lily Pond where we had been told we may see a moose although we heard rustling in trees, nothing materialised. Our next stop was the Sabbaday Falls which was a short hike ... read more

Geo: 42.3585, -71.0596We had an action planned day planned today so headed into town first thing. Our first stop was the observatory at the Prudential Tower. This was one of the lower skyline views we visited but then Boston does not having a lot of skyscrapers so we still got a perfect view. We could see all of Boston - including the legendary Fenway Park. After we descended the tower we decided to call by The Cheesecake Factory for a spot of Brunch. Simon had a combo of pancakes, bacon and eggs, whilst Nicky had the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes topped with strawberries. These were both delicious and a very nice treat. All made nicer by the fact they had the Wimbledon Final on the TV - it was the final set so we could not leave ... read more

Geo: 42.3585, -71.0596As we had a very late night last night we slept in but the T line metro stopped right next to us. We got on and headed to the sea front. We had decided to try and get on a boat to go whale watching. We were in luck and there was a boat due to leave and after waiting in yet another queue in the baking sun we got on the boat. This was a long trip into the Atlantic Ocean and after about an hour we arrived at our spot. It was from here that we spotted her - a humpback whale called Nile. She was so beautiful and she was diving up and down into the sea. It was definitely a remarkable sight! After a time of following the whales movement ... read more
