Geo: 37.9833, 23.7333This morning we awoke & took a peek out of the balcony where we were greeted by beautiful blue sky. Therefore we quickly hopped out of bed, had some breakfast before running out the door to enjoy the heat. We took a walk and stumbled across the Lysicrates monument. We followed this on until we came to an area called Pandrossou - which had lots of tempting shops, although Simon was close to losing Nicky to the temptation they persevered. The first port of call this morning was Hadrian's Library - this was an interesting site in which you could see the partial remains of the library which had a church built within it. We then hot-footed it across to the Roman Agora which would of been the Roman's civic centre. This site although hard ... read more

Geo: 37.9833, 23.7333After a restful night sleep, we awoke & had a complimentary continental breakfast which prepared us for a long day of walking ahead. Our first port of call had to be the main attraction, The Acropolis! We headed just a short walk from the hotel and joined the gangs of tourists (mostly americans) climbing the hill towards the site. We stopped of firstly to gain a different perspective of the impressive Odeon of Herodes - we could just imagine the spectacle of watching a show in such a setting for a play. With a little more climbing we reached the Beule Gate which is the gateway into the Acropolis. We were just for a moment reminded of how spectacular it would have been in the time it was built to visit this amazing place. ... read more

Geo: 37.9833, 23.7333The intrepid explorers awoke from hibernation & decided that we were itching for a new adventure and choose Athens as the place to explore. After an early start we headed to Stansted for our flight to Athens - brilliant flight and even arrived early. After a wobbly start trying to decipher the metro we hopped on and headed in to the centre. We firstly decided to check into the hotel so we could deposit the bags and start the exploration early. The hotel is aptly called the Acropolis View and thankfully off our balcony we have a perfect view of the beautiful Acropolis. Once we'd dropped off our bags we headed to the foot of the Filopappou Hill which was a perfect place for us to start. We set off through the beautiful wooden ... read more

Geo: 48.8566, 2.35097This morning we got up super early and hopped on the metro to the champ de mars. We got in line ready to take a ride up the Eiffel Tower- in order to beat the queues we had about an hour wait. However as soon as it opened we were on out way. We firstly took the elevator up to the first floor which gave us amazing views across Paris. Before taking another elevator up to the summit. It was very windy up here but the views were worth it- we spent some time mapping out all the places we had been. We then raced back down to the floor level. We were then booked to go on a sightseeing cruise around paris - so we boarded that and sailed down the seine. After we ... read more

Geo: 48.8566, 2.35097This morning we headed out early in order to visit Disneyland Paris. Once again we got head nice and early and headed into the main park. On the way spotting Minnie Mouse. As we were too eager we were there before the park officially opened so we had to wait a while. Once it opened we headed to 'it's a small world' and yes the song is annoying! After this we headed on a star tour - this was Star Wars adventure which was fun! Following this we went on the buzz light year laser blast. This was an awesome ride where you went round scoring points by shooting laser at a target. Nicky won this game! We then wandered up to the town square and watched a performance of spring has sprung. Then ... read more

Geo: 48.8566, 2.35097Today after a lazy start we hopped on the metro to the montparnasse tower. This took us up an elevator and gave us beautiful views over the whole of paris. We spotted all the places we had been and all the places we were going to visit. Most importantly it gave us a perfect view of the Eiffel Tower. Following this we walked up to the Luxembourg gardens which was a lovely park to stroll through and we watched some tennis game and some children playing with boats in a fountain. We also saw the palais du Luxembourg. We then wandered the streets till we discovered the pantheon. We sat on the steps and watched the world whizz by. We then crossed over the river seine on the pont de l'archeveche till we reached ... read more

Geo: 48.8566, 2.35097This morning we decided to have a well earned rest and had a lazy morning. However that spurned us to work harder in the afternoon. Our first port of call was the louvre. We went around a little tour we have discovered in travel guide and saw lots of works of arts from many different eras including the Venus de milo and the wedding at Cana- however we didn't forgot to visit the Mona Lisa which was quite remarkable to see after the millions of pictures you see of it. After a few hours here we wanted up to the arc de triomphe du carrousel - this was a beautiful arch which was the entrance to the jardin Des Tuileries. This was a lovely tranquil park and great place to watch the world go ... read more

Geo: 48.8566, 2.35097Today we were headed to Disneyland so an early start was in order. We walked to Gare de Lyon and after Simon bravely negotiated buying train tickets in French we were off. After a 30 min journey we arrived. We entered the park and decided that we would go to the Disney studios first. First point of call was cinemagic which was a show showing the wonders of cinema through a man being sucked into the screen. Following this we braved the Tower of Terror which dropped you from height through an haunted hotel. Once our nerves had recovered we went to the Armageddon special effects experience which was cool. After this we went on the studio tram tour which took us behind the magic of Disney.Afterwards we went to see the motor actions ... read more

Geo: 48.8566, 2.35097The intrepid explorers have had itchy feet to get back to exploring - so they headed off. At 4:15 the alarm bell stirs the explorers and they wake up and head off to ebbsfleet to catch the Eurostar to take them to Paris! They arrive in plenty of time and breeze through passport security and wait patiently for the train to come. Once on board the sleepy explorers doze until arriving into paris. They get off the train and head into the maze of the metro system to try and navigate their way to the hotel to leave the luggage. Success!! They reach their destination although slightly damp from the rain in paris.Once the bags have been deposited and a small pitstop for a drink break the explorers are ready to begin. They walk ... read more
