Geo: 48.8566, 2.35097This was our last morning in Paris so we wanted to make the most of it. We were out and about before 8 o'clock. We were on the streets with many people going to work by taxi, car, bike, motorcycle and subway. One observation we made is that there are probably more people riding motorcycles here in Paris than in London or Ireland. If all the people on motorcycles were in cars the traffic probably wouldn't even move. They weave in and around the cars and buses just like the bicyclists do. Their attire is everything from business suits, dresses and heels to jeans and tights. Another thing we noticed is that there weren't many grocery stores or supermarkets and the few we did see were very small. We walked through Luxembourg Garden to St. ... read more

Geo: 48.8566, 2.35097The morning began with breadfast at the hotel. It was a good way to start a full day of sightseeing in Paris. Our first destination was to do a river walk along the banks of La Seine River through the center of Paris. The walk took us to two islands, Ile St. Louis and Ile de la Cite. There was a small church on the Ile St. Louis called St. Louis Church. On the other island we visited Notre Dame Cathedral. The Cathedral was quite large with many columns and statues of the apostles displayed as part of the front facade. There were two steeples on this church. The inside was impressive with it's statues and stained glass windows. From there we walked along Quai Des la Hotel Deville, past the landmark Hotel Deville, and to ... read more

Geo: 48.8566, 2.35097Our morning went well with checking out of our hotel and getting to the train station to board a train bound for Paris. The train station was very modern, not like the others we have been seeing the last two weeks. The halls were lined with shops and restaurants. It was more like an airport though. We had to check into a certain area. Our baggage was scanned as were we. Our passports were stamped and then we had to wait in a lounge area until our train was ready for boarding. The train was a high speed train going up to as much as 100 miles per hour. The initial part of the journey was in the dark as we were in a tunnel going under water, which is referred to as the chunnel. ... read more

Geo: 51.5002, -0.126236Our travels today covered a lot of ground. We traveled by tube to Leicester Square. The subway in London is a series of severallines that traverse all the different sections of London. The subway consists of many levels ofplatforms below the street level. Weoften had to climb 3 or 4 levels of stairs to get to the subway line andplatform. All the lines are color codedand there appear to be 13 colors or lines that transport people throughout thecity. Even with the large number ofpeople waiting to get on a subway car everyone manages to get on. It's amazing. After our 3rd day in London we got to be pretty effective atmoving around the city by subway. Youjust have to watch for the signs that identify proper destinations to make sureyou are going in ... read more

Geo: 51.5002, -0.126236Our morning began with a relaxing breakfast in the hotel. After a few days of travel and moving from Ireland to England it is nice to stay put for 3 days in one location. During breadfast we planned out the rest of our day and the sights we wanted to take in. Our first destination was Big Ben and the Parliament Buildings. Everything is so old yet so well maintained. All the buildings are huge in size, some of them covering, in comparison, to an entire city block. Many of the buildings have pillars and carved statues in front as well as steeples.they're not just plain brick or galss facades. From the Westminster Bridge we were also able so view the London Eye which is a huge ferris wheel with enclosed cars. Also in ... read more
