We dusted off our comfortable well made pair of traveling shoes and restarted our inquisitiveness for long-distance wayfaring for 2017. Our travel selection this year is to seek out adventure in China and Tailand. The following is some basic information that helped ignite our interests. China is vast and diverse. It's one of the oldest continuous civilizations. It offers temple- topped mountains, quaint villages, Buddhist statues and imperial palaces. China offers many extremes, crumbling dynasties, the Great Wall and altars reserved for the emperor, the worlds highest mountains to the fastest trains.China has more than enough extremes to satisfy thrill seekers or just the plain inquisitive. Culinary exploration of course is possibly the most enticing aspect of Asia travels. Hong Kong will be our destination in China. This culinary capital offers the best of China, mountains, skyscrapers and tenements, shopping and scenery.Though the high-rises and neon lights occupy the foreground of many tourist pictures, the typical Thai community is still the farming village, and you need not venture far to encounter a more traditional scene of fishing communities, rubber plantations and Buddhist temples. Around forty percent of Thais earn their living from the land, based around the staple rice, which forms the foundation of the country's unique and famously sophisticated cuisine.Bangkok, is a teeming metropolis with gilded temples and palaces, while the two coastlines, on the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand, have postcard-perfect beaches. In the mountainous interior, hill tribes live as they have for millennia.Wherever you travel in Thailand, there's the food: fresh seafood, countless curries, and noodle dishes so delicious you'll never want to return to your local Thai take-out. Your most lasting impression, however, will be the friendliness of the locals - calling Thailand the "land of smiles"; may seem clich?, but it has a foundation in truth.Alongside night markets,, there are towering skyscrapers, large mountains and busy harbors.. Thailand is one of the few places on earth where ancient religious and cultural practices still thrive in an overwhelmingly modernistic landscape.Bangkok Thailand is an interesting mixture of sights and sounds. It is filled with non-stop action, grit, character, and some of the best tastiest cheap food in the world. Bangkok is a jigsaw puzzle of towering skyscrapers, colorful taxicabs, motorcycle taxis and busy pedestrians. It is diverse- a combination of old and new, you can see Buddhist monks clad in yellow robes walking the streets. Like all Thailand, there's a lot of negotiation and bartering; haggling at the many street markets is the norm. You can find a wide range of activities and attractions to explore, from the historical, religious temples, to shopping, cafes and galleries. And foodies shouldn't hold back from enjoying the city's 24 hour street- side food stalls which are really unique to Bangkok.
