Lahaina is located less than 5 miles south of Kaanapali Beach. Lahaina is considered one of Maui's top destinations for shopping, dining, and entertainment. It's a national historic area that blends tourism and agriculture, the two leading industries of Hawaii. We walked down Front Street, the Main Street adjacent to the ocean. We were amazed by the number of jewelry stores and art galleries. They also had many stores selling shaved ice and gelato which goes well in this climate. Geo: 20.9288, -156.694We began our day with additional sightseeing in Waikiki but by early afternoon we boarded a commuter plane, on Hawaiian Airlines, to Maui. In the early morning we enjoyed a leisurely breakfast to prepare us for our walking along Waikiki Beach. We covered the beach from end to end. We strolled along many city streets which are lined with many large hotels and resorts. The morning brought out many local walkers and joggers. In the water were a few swimmers but there were many more surfers trying to catch the waves. We prepared a picnic lunch and joined many others who were enjoying the sights and sounds at the beach. Geo: 21.2828, -157.829After 40 years of marriage we are celebrating with a trip to Hawaii. This will be a combination trip of relaxation and sight seeing. We will be visiting two islands, the first is O'hau and then on to Maui. In O'hau we will be sight seeing in Hololulu visiting Pearl Harbor and Waikiki Beach. Geo: 40.5509, 14.2429Well, it's our last full day in Italy. We were awakened this morning by the sound of a crowing rooster and the mooing of cows. We checked out our doorwall and there were also sheep grazing and cherries being picked in the fields next door. Our morning began with a good breakfast at the Hotel Bussola. They served lunchmeats, cheeses, spreads, juices, coffee and hot tea. The best part were the cakes and rolls which were fresh baked and still warm. We were then driven by car to the city center where we could catch a bus to Capri. We had spent yesterday in Anacapri. Geo: 40.626, 14.3744Let me begin today's entry with an update on last night's soccer game. Italy was victorious over England. The game ended in a shoot out. When the winning kick was scored the streets here errupted with horns, shouts, whistles and racing motorcycles. It lasted for hours. Since we are staying on the main street the noise was loud and clear. Did it bother us? Not at all. As tired as we were we both fell asleep amid the noise.
