Geo: 51.5002, -0.126236Our train ride today was rather short, only 1 1/2 hours. This train was more high tech than others since it had an electrical outlet at our table. We'll have to wait for the day until they have satellite wifi on the trains. This is holiday weekend in England so everyone is traveling and there was not a seat available on the train. We haven't seen that happen yet.It took little effort and minimal map searching to locate our hotel. We extended a helping hand to another tourist by explaining to her where she was on the map and how to get to a museum. After having a quick lunch and checking in to the hotel we set out to take our first subway ride in search of a chosen bike shop to rent ... read more

Geo: 51.3814, -2.35745Today was another full day of sightseeing. The weather didn't cooperate fully as it sprinkled off and on but the sun came out in between. There would be rain for 3 minutes and then sunshine. We are getting used to it. The temperature was a little warmer than Ireland so that makes it easier to deal with the rain.Since we weren't in a rush this morning we were able to have a nice, leisurely breakfast. It was a great relaxing way to begin a full day of walking and sightseeing. During breakfast we decided upon our course to follow for the rest of the day.The Circus was our first stop. It's a circular block of townhouses with very distinctive architecture. We moved on to Queen's Row which was another example of early 18th century style ... read more

Geo: 53.344, -6.26719We're getting pretty good at rising, dressing, packing andwalking out the door in a short amount of time. Today I think we beat our record. After checking out our options we decided our best bet was to take ataxi to the Dublin Port to catch our cruise ship to England. All went smoothly and we departed from Ireland at 8:05 a.m. The ship is quite impressive. It has many lounges and cafes serving food, coffee, tea, and beer. People were drinking beer at 8 o'clock in the morning! There are shops for people who wish to browse or buy during their crossing. We felt like we were on the Titanicwith mirrored ceilings. There were tv's located throughout the ship for those interested in viewing and wifi connection available by sattelite. The cruise was rather calm ... read more

Geo: 52.6639, -8.62677The day began as planned, catching a bus from Dingle to Limerick. We got to view more of the Irish countryside with more sheep grazing. It's nice to travel and watch out the window and not have to worry about watching the road and directions. The roads are quite narrow and have many 90 degree turns which makes driving a chore, not to mention getting used to driving on the left hand side of the road. We arrived at the Limerick bus station which was quite small. It didn't even have any coffee shops. We started following a map leading us to our hotel. As we were looking at the map a woman stopped to offer help. She was walking her dog and decided to just escort us to the hotel. Another example of ... read more

Geo: 52.1433, -10.2687There was more on our itinerary today than what timeallowed. Our bus didn't leave Kilarneythis morning until 10:05 so we had tea and toast with two people we'd met atthe hostel. One was a biker from Germanywho is touring Ireland. The other is awoman from the U.K. who is touring Ireland by motorcycle. Both commented about how much stamina ittakes to travel alone but that it's worth it.Our bus ride took us through mountainous sheep raisingareas. Many of the sheep have spray paintedareas of red, blue and green lines on their backs. The purpose is todistinguish ownership of the sheep. Themountain sides has commonage areas whichare shared by multiple farmers who have their sheep grazing in the same areasso the colors show ownership. There werealso cows along the way. The west side of Ireland ... read more

Geo: 52.0579, -9.50747Woke up this morning at 6:30 to the pitter patter of rain hitting our skylite. We dressed for the weather and went to breakfast which was toast and cereal, juice, coffee and tea. The hostel offers this breakfast and it's a good thing since it appears nothing else is open at this hour. The restaurants advertise full breakfasts but they don't open until 11:00 a.m. To us that's almost lunch timeAfter breakfast we set out to locate an ATM since some restaurants and pubs don't accept credit cards. The search was on since several of the ones we had been directed to were out of service. Finally we were successful and moved on to the bike shop to rent bikes for the day. Dermot O'Sullivan took care of us well. He provided us with ... read more
