Geo: 42.0534, 3.1976714/05/11 Hot and Sunny 25oC am Rain pmOff to Girona after lunch to pick up Michelle from the airport, we'd decided to get a rack roasted chicken from stall in Torroella and have it cold with a salad for ease, the stall is very popular with the locals although somewhat expensive, aside from chicken he does lamb and rabbit all stuffed or infused with a mixture of herbs which really makes them special. When we arrived there were around 20 people all queuing for their order! I dropped Linda off and found a nearby car park to wait in. After a couple of minutes I noticed that everyone returning to the car park was carrying a bag from the stall, must be a gold mine I thought. Finally after 20 mins she appeared bag ... read more

Geo: 42.0534, 3.1976730/4/11 Hot and Sunny 23oCMy cough has now gone from a dry cough to settling deep in my chest I'm having difficulty breathing and wheezing like an old man, (no comments) despite everything I just can't seem to shift it.A leisurely day on site doing absolutely nothing, the site is slowly starting to fill up and every week-end more and more Spanish are spending their time on site arriving Friday evening and leaving Sunday evening not a bad life if you can manage it.Our daughter Michelle rang up to say her car has packed up and is beyond economic repair, she works late shifts so a car is a must for her, so after a long discussion about finances and whatever, arrangements were made for her to view suitable replacements with a reliable friend. ... read more

Geo: 42.0534, 3.1976723/4/11 Warm and overcast 19 oC am Hot & Sunny pm 23 oC We had torrential rain and were buffeted by extremely strong winds most of the night; and couldn't help but hope it would change in time for the kid's arrival tomorrow. Anyway the day started far better than expected everything was intact and my potted herb garden was now swimming in 50ml of water, I said it was torrential didn't !We've named our women neighbours in the camper (Mona & Lisa) Just before lunch Mona appeared and started to wash things up whilst Lisa disconnected the mains lead to the camper, they're off we thought feeling better already. After an hour they climbed aboard and tried to start the engine, after 20 mins of continually trying to start the thing the air ... read more

Geo: 42.0534, 3.1976716/4/11 A bright and sunny day but with a cold wind when it blows 19oCOff on the bike this morning and after my usual circuit of the town and seafront, call in for my regular treat of croissants and a baguette on the way home. Whilst cycling around the harbour I discovered a carboot sale., so after a leisurely breakfast off we went for a nosey and ended up buying 5 English hardbacks for €1 I'd already brought 15 books with me but you can't turn down a bargain can you girls! Finally Travelfone emailed me an apology and an explanation which only served to make matters worse so although the service appears to be back to normal they've now received a stinging and searching email from me 17/4/11 Another bright and sunny day but ... read more

Geo: 42.0534, 3.197678/4/11 A bright but cooler day around 18 oCI'm told the site WI-FI should be available from Monday so that'll be good. Cursorily enough the site work men have started to install another water point further down the spine road, this has necessitated a road crossing (the obvious springs to mind such as why didn't they do this whilst the site was closed, oh well this is Spain and the obvious very often isn't)A lot of Spanish families have descended on the site and started to set up their pitches, it's really quite comical, they turn up in truck, flatbed, large vans and all sorts of vehicles and then proceed to remove everything like it's a house removal there's fridges, freezers washing machines including in most cases a kitchen sink unit (no I'm not ... read more

Geo: 42.0534, 3.19767Sat 2/4/11 Bright and sunny mid day temp 22oCWell the awnings up, the freezers connected, we've done the shopping, so all's well with the world, well nearly for some strange reason my International SIM doesn't seem to want to send texts, everyone is showing as failed.Sun 3/4/11 Blazing sunshine mid day temp 24oCI've now discovered that not only is my phone not sending or now receiving texts I can't make calls either, as soon as the recipient picks up the phone it disconnects at my end. The site WI-FI doesn't go live until next week so I'll have to find an Internet cafe tomorrow to report the problem. So for now all I can do is pour another drink and chill.Mon 4/4/11 Bright and Sunny with a slight wind mid day temp 22oCMarket day ... read more

Geo: 42.0534, 3.19767We crossed the Millau viaduct in the early hours such an amazing sight, I never tire of it, such sylph like beauty towering out of the mist and the little lights of the town of Millau many metres below; for some wonderful photos of the viaduct and a brief description visit the architects website at http://www.fosterandpartners.com/Projects/1158/Default.aspx We stopped off at the Millau péage rest area for a couple of hours rest before continuing our journey on to Beziers, which we were please to discover has or rather will have an excellent bypass when it's finished. Beziers the last but one bottle neck on the route south, the other being the circumnavigation of Perpignan which unless you've done it before is a nightmare, especially as I'm banned from taking the slower but more direct route ... read more
