Geo: 9.96667, 76.2333Besides Mumbai, we finally made it to the coast. After a short ferry ride that only cost 5c we arrived in Fort Cochin which is the main area for westerners who visit Kochi. We settled in at the Santa Cruz hotel where the rooms were very small and the bathrooms were tiny, but they did the job and it wasn't too expensive. After enjoying the cooler climate and shooting back down to strong and humid heat we had a quick shower and the four of us, Myself, Carole, Kim and Gloria went and got a bite to eat and a few beers.Nothing was really planned for the following day as we didn't leave the small area that we were staying in till 2pm. We grabbed some breakfast, did the Internet thing and went to ... read more

Geo: 11.412, 76.6945I was really looking forward to getting away from the big cities for a change, so i couldn't wait to get to Mysore and Ooty (Udhagamandalam). We arrived at Mysore by train from Bangalore at about 6pm where we lodged ourselves at Hotel Dasprakash. I felt the immediate impact of being away from the big cities, as soon as we caught the train i calmed down a bit, for about 1 hour i stood in the doorway of the train, put on some music and just watched the country side pass by.We settled in and then went to get some dinner, while we were ordering we invited a guy from another table to join us. His name was Scott and he was from the USA, he had told us that he had been in ... read more

Geo: 19.8853, 75.3197After the experience of Mumbai, Carole any myself boarded a train which went east to a town called Aurangabad. The train took about 6 hours where we arrived at about 9pm, we got a free ride to our accommodation, Shree Maya. Here they had a really nice restaurant in which we grabbed some food and settled in for the night. Once again we had to endure the cold showers. Most places will have hot water from 6-9 in the morning, so being in hot places and spending the day drenched in sweat sometimes cold showers can be a blessing, but then i still prefer them to be hot.Johannes was due to arrive from Mumbai to meet us around midday so Carole and myself wandered off for the first part of the morning. During our ... read more

Geo: 19.0801, 72.9134So i finally made my way down to Colaba which is in the main downtown area of Mumbai, at this point i didn't have anything booked, So I made my way towards the Red Shield Salvation Army Hostel, along the way I saw a guy so I asked where the hostel was, he pointed to the direction but said that he had got the last room only 5 minutes ago, but immediately offered to share his room with me.His name was Johannes, from Germany, one strapping young lad who had just flew in from Frankfurt, so as it was his first night he was a bit tired and disorientated. So I checked in to a fairly plain room with aircon, which really wasn't needed but we had not option, and a cold shower. I'm starting ... read more

Geo: 26.2816, 73.0232After an amazing few days in Delhi with Vidur, i had to leave, i was on a tight schedule and i knew i would regret not going to Rajasthan. My train left from Delhi station at 6 am, i was staying at Vidurs Uncle and Aunties place, so i got up at 5 and took a taxi into the station. At Delhi station there are a few people that try and convince you that the places, trains and tickets are wrong. This is because if they convince you to follow their instructions they end up getting commission, so the best option is to ignore anyone that comes up to you, unless the person is dressed officially, don't listen to them. This happened to me. As i was walking on to the platform, i saw a ... read more

Geo: -31.9592, 141.467So the bad news is that my camera is stuffed, can't take photos, so I was forced to buy a disposable camera, so expect crapper quality photos. I'm not too impressed; I have to get it fixed back either in Newcastle or Sydney and an exorbitant price most likely. So armed with limited photos from a disposable, I had to be frugal with what shots I was going to be taking. So I was struggling a little bit on the Saturday, following my camera problems I had cash flow problems. Seeing as I had lost my wallet in Melbourne, I was still waiting for my bank cards to be sent from home, but because I had the week off and came to Broken Hill I told Mum to wait for me to get back to ... read more

Geo: -31.9592, 141.467Where would be a cheap place to go for 4 days which also has enough to see and do? How about Broken Hill? Seems like such an odd place to go to, and you would be mistaken for thinking that there wouldn't be much or anything. 4 days is a good amount of time to see all and do all.But to experience all of this came at a small price, yes financially, but also mentally. I was setting off from Sydney, on the other side of the state. I had to endure a 16.5 hr trip to get here and then again to get back.Sean and I had finished auditing the last few schools in the Hunter/Central coast area but the film was not ready and would not be ready till the following week, ... read more
