It took us two days to travel from NOLA to San Antonio, we stopped in a nice roadside campground in Houston East RV Resort. Customer service was great and it may have been the neatest/cleanest RV park we've stayed in, but our slot was in the front of the park and I-10 is never quiet. Road noise made it difficult for Mi Hyon to sleep, but I slept fairly well...I usually do. Since bath house was very nice and clean and we were just staying overnight, I showered in the bath house to keep from moving our plants or hooking up the water/sewer.. In the morning all I had to do unplug the power and drive off. Traffic in Houston wasn't too bad considering it's a huge city, the cars fly by and cut me off ... read more

We arrived safely in New Orleans after some very bad roads on the way in. I don't think I have ever driven on worse roads anywhere in the world than those in New Orleans. I once thought the roads on I-81 in PA, NY, CT were bad, but nothing had prepared me for the roads here. Thought the RV was going to come apart in the pot holes big enough to swallow my pickup. French Road coming to our RV park, Pontchartrain Landing, was the worst! Iron bar-covered windows/doors and graffiti throughout the surrounding neighborhood was its most noticeable feature. My confidence was a little shaken driving in, but the RV park was OK and seemed safe enough. The park was basically a gravel/dirt parking lot in an industrial area, but was only 15 minutes from ... read more

We left Gaffney SC with plans to stop overnight at Auburn RV Park at Leisuretime Campground to get a good night's rest in prep for an early morning departure to New Orleans. The Campground Host was very nice and dropped by our site to visit with us and welcome us to Auburn Al. We had expected a nice roadside overnight park, but were pleasantly surprised with a beautiful Creekside lot and some of the nicest folks we've ever met in the adjacent lot. After sitting a few minutes in the warm sun enjoying the sounds of running water, we decided to extend a day. It was a very good decision, we broke bread with our new friends and enjoyed the best weather of our trip. The D2s next door are from Detroit on their way to ... read more

We arrived in Gaffney SC a couple days early for our 18-19 Jan service at Oasis Freightliner Custom Chassis Service Center. It is critical we get Camp Boss serviced before we embark on our cross continent journey, so we wanted to take no chances of being late. Well it's a good thing we showed up early, because we timed our arrival with an unexpected snow storm. We were going to stay a couple days in the very nice Spartanburg/Gaffney KOA, but nature had its own plans. So we showered and caught up on laundry at the KOA, then got up early on the 17th to move into the Oasis FCC maintenance lot a day early. The maintenance lot is great, it has wireless, a dump station, and 50 amp service and they provide it free to ... read more

We spent the last 10 days in Apopka, Florida at a really nice KOA, visiting local family Mom, Dad, Julie and Tim. It was a time to get off the road, catch up on laundry, shopping and most importantly all the family news. The weather in Florida was a bit cool, (especially for the Florida folks) but after Charleston it was still really nice for us!!! Seeing family is always the best of times and so far this trip we've seen our Ohio, Maine, Boston, DC, Georgia, and Florida family. Hopefully, this week we'll see our NC family as well. I guess you could say we have a modern family spread far and wide...so unfortunately we only get to see them at best once a year. The northern folks we saw this summer/fall and the southern ... read more

This cross country road trip is a 40th Wedding Anniversary celebration, so we would be remiss if we did not return to our honeymoon spot, Charleston SC. In 1978 it was August, so you can imagine the temperature outside, but we were young and high 90s-high humidity was fine. It was a little different on this trip...to say the least. The first couple days we were there the weather was cool, but sunny. Perfect weather for walking around and viewing the battery area historic homes, exactly as we remembered them. What wonderful memories! We had a great time, testing out some wonderful restaurants and seeing the old sites. In 1977, we couldn't afford fine dining (or any dining) that I can remember, I think we packed food in our cooler to eat in the hotel. On ... read more

After a few stops in West Virginia and Virginia we arrived at Cherry Hill RV Resort to spend Christmas at Justin's house. On the way into town we had our bikes on a rack on the back of our towed vehicle and planned to use them for sightseeing, but someone somewhere along the trip bumped into Mike's bike and bent the real rim. The bike was no longer usable so we just took them back home to Ohio. It's about and 6 hour drive, but it was nice to check on the condo; we have been away since the day after Thanksgiving so the time at home was nice. It was a little cold on some nights but the RV kept us warm and comfortable. We had a little extra time so Justin, Mi Hyon and ... read more

After we left Maine on 20 Oct, we travelled to our condo in Ohio for a visit with Patrick and Troy and to get celebrate Thanksgiving with the boys. While there we took a brief road trip up to Cuyahoga Valley National Park and the Cleveland waterfront. We're happy we went, because too often we never go and see sights nearest to where we live...and it's too beautiful to be missed. Next time we pass through in April we'll visit the AF museum in Dayton and the NFL Hall of Fame, but ran out of time on this visit home. It was a wonderful weather day to visit both the park and the waterfront. We also took a side trip to visit one of the Italian restaurants featured on a food channel show. The show made ... read more

Following a great visit with our family in Newton Mass, on 10 Sep we moved on to Belfast Maine where we stayed for 6 weeks or so. Around 1999, my parents and a couple of their friends constructed a wonderful campground to park a few RVs...it has become our northern Shangri La, especially this fall with cool nights and warm dry days perfect for camping. Although we don't have a sewer connection, there is water, power, and a mobile tank to pump waste into for disposal at the end of our visit. We come to Maine to disconnect, walk the property's forest trails, enjoy campfires at night, and watch gradual fall color take over from the lush green canopy. It's a good thing we want to disconnect, because there's no internet on site anyway. I may ... read more

Following a one-night stay in a Wilkes-Barre Walmart parking lot, we arrived in Bedford, Ma for a few days stop on the way to Maine. We love each opportunity we get to visit with Mi Hyon's sister, her husband, and our three lovely nieces. While here we visited the Brimfield Antiques Market, Lexington Common, and Minuteman National Monument. We come to Boston area often, but there is always more to see each time we come to town.... read more
