Geo: 43.2115, -81.9715The final bits and bobs needed to be tidied up from the bombsite remaining from Saturdays party. So after some expert pancake making by the Smith brothers, we toddled to the cottage for the final tidy up. First mission was to return all if the empty bottles to the beer store as you get money back for them out here!!! Abt $35 back in the end.... Seeing as its 10c for a beer bottle and 20c for a wine bottle, you can imagine what the car looked like before we got there!! With our winnings, we bought some icecream for pud! Amazing icecream.... Peanut butter & chocolate, walnut & pecan and neapolitan! Scrummy!! Most of the other jobs were done by the time we returned, so we sat, chatted and looked at the photos ... read more

Geo: 43.2106, -81.9717Not all that much to tell for today, as it was mainly prep for the wedding. We arose abt 8am and trekked over to the shower block, shared with a few spiders! And all had the stereotypical breakfast of homemade pancakes with maple syrup! Toddling down to the cottage in the drizzle we received a list of jobs to do from alexis. First job, fairy lights around trees! With only one ladder between 6 however it was a bit of a mission!! I was happy up the trees with he boys holding the ladder and Elise's artistic direction! It got done, but hard to tell in daylight what they will look like in the light! I was then on gardening duty once the sun had appeared- in my element!! With Elise we dug, planted, ... read more

Geo: 43.2109, -81.9721We made it!! Once we had driven through country bumpkin land, we turned into a driveway with a sign saying 'Jesus lives you and the reason for life!' We were met by dale, the lady who runs the chalet park! My god she can talk! We were unsure of what number we were in and then alexis turned up to save us!! No.14 is our little home for the week. It is definitely basic compared to our last digs, but comfy and dry, which compared to some I have stayed in is a pure luxury! They are decorated as per the 1960/70's which I think is when they were built!! Mine and James' room is compact, however for £10 a night we really can't complain! Photos show more than I can write!! Once unpacked ... read more

Geo: 43.6601, -79.4165It has been lovely to stay somewhere long enough to be able to unpack and have a proper home! 308 Harbord you have been lovely! Lets go find a car, drive on the wrong side of the road to somewhere near a beach ;) So at the moment I am sat on someone's driveway, with all of our stuff and a load of wedding stuff alexis couldn't fit in hers waiting for James to appear with the rental car. Getting stared at ALOT!! Haha! Our taxi driver was lovely and rang up the rental place for us to check he was abandoning us in the right place! He also helped me unload and was very chatty, therefore I didn't mind giving him the expected tip!!... read more

Geo: 43.6586, -79.4145To make most from our city pass, we decided to trek up to Casa Loma, the oldest castle in North America! Built in 1911 by a guy with more money than sense! I was on top of a hill but no moat, arrow slits or battlements! At home it would just be a stately home!! It was lovely though, 3 floors, a towers, lots of guest suites, the lady of the house was a keen girl guider. There was a stunning conservatory with a stained glass roof. A tunnel, under the roads, warmed by steam from furnaces, linking the main house to the stables, garages and green houses! As I said, more money than sense! He actually became bankrupt because if the war and it ended up being taken by the government due to ... read more

Geo: 43.6207, -79.5106So because of all the mass organising we'd being doing over the last week we decided to book on an 'organised fun' tour to go to Niagara Falls, stopping at a winery and the Niagara on the lake village on the way. No brain work involved. A little dude in a minivan picked us up at 8am and myself, Elise (bridesmaid) the boys and 4 of the parent/aunt contingency left to get the big coach from the company office! Once booked in we went on a mission for a cuppa and found chai lattes which made me eternally grateful! So yummy. We took our seats on the coach and waited for it to fill with many nationalities! One lady was gone too long for a coffee and got ejected from the tour by Jay ... read more

Geo: 43.6601, -79.4166Today was a day that involved very little walking!! It was alexis' bridal shower at her aunt joanie's house in London, a 2-3hr drive out of the city! Alexis rented a 7seater to get us all out there and drove through horrendous weather to get us there! They were all very welcoming and friendly, mostly being from alexis' dads family. So Scottish with a Canadian twist.... Took a while to get used to that accent!! After lots of good food, wine and stories about alexis, 3 hrs zoomed by and then were on the road back again, armed with biscuits and lindor chocolates!! Happy days!! Once back in Toronto, myself and Elise and Shani (bridal party!) had a good old natter for an hr or two before an early night to head to the ... read more
