Geo: 50.899, -119.458Having arrived at the cabin late afternoon, we had a sit and a cider whilst we wait for Liz and Danny (Becs sister and her irish husband) and their friends Erin and Duncan (a Brit) to arrive after car issues. We went for a swim out to a pontoon and had a chat, a beer and a sit. The water was beautiful, only cold at depth, so if you got in slowly and swam on top of the water it was lovely! It was then decided abt 8ish that we should potentially get the BBQ on and drink some more cider. The food was delicious and as the debate with the boys escalated into politics and unions, I decided that washing up would be more enjoyable!! Lots of alcohol later I am finally in ... read more

Geo: 51.1831, -115.574Breakfast this morning was a good sized buffet, however personally I concentrated on the pancakes, bacon and maple syrup!! (Big diet when I get home!!) Once we had checked out, we ventured up to the Banff Gondola where cable cars flew you 3000m up onto the top of the Rockies. The views were spectacular from the top, with a short walk to the pinnacle. James made friends with a chipmunk who sat on his knee waiting to be fed! So cute! Once back in the car, we gathered supplies and hit the road for the 5hrs to the Cabin.... read more

Geo: 51.1807, -115.57We arrived in Banff following Becca's sat nave until it sent us a roundabout way, so bec took over and we found our nice big hotel with a double double room. As soon as we dumped our bags and used the facilities (bec nearly getting locked in the toilet... Haha!) we ventured out for Tat (sooooooo many amazing tat shops.... Yes it's touristville but I love it!!!) and food. We headed to the Elk bar where racks of ribs and Elk pizza were washed down with three differing types of sangria! Fit to burst I went on a mission for my sew on badge and the boys went on a mission for sommersby cider. It took myself and Becca a phone call, a locator sent by bob and google street maps to find them ... read more

Geo: 51.5922, -114.497Lake Louise is apparently a 'must see' spot in Banff National Park and I can certainly see why. Yes it was full of bus loads of Asian tourists and yes there was an unsightly hotel where rooms are apparently $600 a night but the scenery was spectacular! (See photos!)After an icecream, we hired a canoe for 30mjns to paddle a little further up and get away from the millions. It was so peaceful bobbing around on the water.... read more

Geo: 51.0867, -114.129Today was a day of feeling human again! We had a dozy morning, left to our own devices as bob had a meeting in town and becca slept from her night shift! A nice, long, hot, powerful shower where my hair could be properly washed! We washed all of our clothes and tumbled dried them so we smell wonderful for our last week away. James watched the mighty bluejays win a baseball game .... I'm starting to get the rules slightly now, but basically it was a sofa morning in front of the tv!! Once the game was over we left b&b to their masses of paperwork and ventured into the mighty Calgary for a few hrs. The transit station (tram to you and me!) is a stones through from the apartment, so once ... read more

Geo: 51.0867, -114.129We made it to bob and becca!!!! They both came to pick us up from the airport which was lovely. So good to see them again! We nattered, nattered and nattered some more throughout the evening. Their apartment is compact but lovely all the same. And rather than cooking as bob had been on a long stretch at work and becca is working nights today and tomoz, we went to the Irish bar which is a stones throw from the apartment. It was scrummy but still huge portions!! I am officially not losing weight this holiday!! We plotted the plan for the next week or so. Booked a hotel in Banff for Thursday night. On the way up the the cabin in BC.... read more

Geo: 43.684, -79.624With the help of a lovely man over an information point, we managed to find where to drop off Bruce (hire car!) having circled the terminal 3 times!!! Unfortunately it was the wrong terminal, so we had to haul our butts through terminal 1, on a transit train to terminal 3 where we had to check in on a computer point, print out our luggage tags and boarding passes and clear security. Surprisingly this all happened pretty rapidly, with the kindle not causing too much chaos for once! We headed towards the gate as it was,not surprisingly, a million miles away. We had a scrummy lunch of wings in a honey mustard glaze and sweet potato fries which made me a happy girl!! Annoyingly we did not get a seat together. James ended up ... read more
