Geo: 50.1183, -122.954This is the day! All roads are leading to Whistler via Vancouver.I was up-and-at-em at 3.30 am in Vegas and on the airpot shuttle bus from the Flamingo at 4.00. This was at the recommendation of the concierge to ensure that the Mayweather fight crowd was missed. Think I dodged that one because the ride to airport was done in 7 minutes and I was the only one at the Air Canada checkin station - even beat the staff! No worries, plenty of time to get the bags in order. The eventual checkin was smooth. Mind you, would have been handy if someone had warned me that in the U.S. you have to take your shoes off for the security check - before I tied the double knots in the Merrills. May have saved ... read more

Geo: 50.1183, -122.954Mac did the flight SOLO because of the #Fab5 #Doing60 trip but his organization was perfect and found his way to the airport with no problems. It was a marathon 30 hours door to door. WIth the usual uber taxi service of Michael it was all aboard for the flight and with a couple of movies, a book, a few meals and some chit chat with the neighbours, the hours went by quickly and it was time to line up in the security area for a brisk run through Los Angeles to join the WestJet leg to Vancouver.Another foray in security this time in the beautiful Vancouver airport. Straight outside to the bus stop and the last part of the journey was the winding climb along the Sea to Sky Highway to Whistler taking in ... read more

Geo: 36.0846, -115.172The day started slowly. Took the team a little while to assemble with the growing number of team artefacts....the rings, the glasses, the drink bottles, the undies and of course good old BJ. But finally ready and attacked the lobby and visited the flamingoes in the garden area and in the foyer shops...interspersed with grabbing breakfast. And of course lots of pictures...with Julie's pink glasses. There were people everywhere on The Strip and after the wild up and down dash in the dark of last night it was time to start exploring the wonders when we weren't blind! First stop Paris and an ooh la la look at the other femme fatales, the night sky, the pastry shops, jewellers and clothing boutiques followed by a speedy zip through Bally's. Back outside for the obligatory Eiffel Tower ... read more

Geo: 36.0846, -115.172All the alarms were ringing at 7 am to make sure we were up and at em to get the shuttle bus. Showers, packing, checking out, breakfast and a quick run down the street to get to the Sheraton for the pickup. No worries, we were at the LUX bus station and checked in with time to spare. The #Fab5 was treating this as a rest day. Relaxed and with nothing to do but watch the highway spin by - although Denise took some time to work on the movie production. Von was sneakily working on something else! And, as always, was keen to share. We were enjoying free drinks and snacks from the not too friendly hostess. The time and the miles flew by quickly and we broke the journey up with a very ... read more

Geo: 33.8327, -117.916The wake up call was at 6 am and true to form BJ greeted us with an "Is something burning?" propped up in a saucepan surrounded by onions. A fireman's delight. The new purchases were stuffed into the already overflowings bags which were efficiently wheeled to one block to the bus pickup point and right on 6.50 the #Fab5 were assembled for the LUXBus ride to Anaheim and Downtown Disney. The ride was effortless - a small coach - a friendly driver - a few diversions because of filming in Downtown LA - but no traffic and plenty of open road on the freeway. It was all done and dusted just on the hour and without a fuss we were dropped at the Portofino, checked in the luggage and with nary a backwards glance were literally ... read more

Geo: 34.0533, -118.245Oh BJ you are so funny. You look just like your new bed buddy. But no time for lingering and sleeping in - hurry up and get up because it's Beach Day. A quick check of Highland Street to see where we leave from tomorrow and then up to the Info Centre, a brisk walk to Santa Monica Boulevard and we were on the right bus! Julie struck up a conversation with the person next to her and lo and behold it is Amelia, 2008 JPC captain and her partner Jack! What a small world. It took about an hour but we were on the Pier at last. Shame it was only 17 degrees and blowing a gale. Geo: 34.0533, -118.245Okay - so the morning started with BJ expressing his desire to be a fully fledged member of the #Fab5. Obviously tired of being left out he went all out overnight to show his personality, and you have to say, he really plucked up a lot of courage to impress the gang. @Shiralee, looks like BJ has taken matters into his own wings - cause this morning he was wearing the team undies AND a poppy! The dust had barely settled from that round of hysteria when Von came out of the bedroom as a BJ look alike complete with mohawk! They were twins! But still no luck for BJ - Denise abandoned him to ANOTHER day of loneliness in the apartment. We've now threatened that we will report her to Chicken Services if she doesn't ... read more

Geo: 34.0533, -118.245Four took off to be shaken but not stirred at Universal Studio and one went back downtown for more shopping. Got any ideas who's who?Of course you do.The Universal Studios crew hailed an UBER. It arrived in 3 minutes - was a Honda with a sun roof - and took us door to door for $5.17. The queues were building and after the initial security search for glass (Denise's hearing aid wasn't turned up ... she thought they were on the lookout for 'blast' .... what part of the universe does that make sense in?) ...we were in line and ready to play. The ticket booth lady was about 80, very cheery, keen to know our family history, wanted a poppy inspired short history of Australia, was committed to getting us the best deal ... read more

Geo: 34.0533, -118.245The day started with a rumble. Denise was sure there was an earthquake but luckily it was just Von welcoming us all to a beautiful day in Los Angeles. That was a relief! As we have made our way up and down Hollywood Boulevard each day so far we have been greeted by the same tour operator with a cheery "Hello Aussie Girls" - it seems we have a new best friend. Today, he shared a very blue joke - and you will have to ask Julie about it some time. The punch line is "Not so funny when it is your mother!" Very, very naughty and only Julie will remember it.The Metro was the first challenge of the day and after a "hustle" from our new best fried at the ticket booth we had ... read more

Geo: 34.0533, -118.245The Sunset Suites Apartment (like most of LA) was not quite ready for us when we hauled our luggage up in two shifts in the ancient elevator. But the manager was accommodating and invited us to leave our luggage behind. It was 8.30 am and we were running on one hour's sleep....and despite our best pleading efforts our room wouldn't be ready till at least midday.Of course, with an entire city to explore why not start with a breakfast at McDonalds. To be fair, this seemed like a good idea because nothing was open before 10 am on Hollywood Boulevard... and there was the matter of free wi-fi. Our plans were dashed though because prominently displayed throughout the restaurant were signs advising customers that there was "no loitering" in McDonalds and we had to ... read more
