We woke up to a nice morning with coffee and breakfast while the kids enjoyed time together. Nathan went into read books with Owen in bed early in the morning and the rumor is they talked early in the mornings before everyone was awake most of the days. Kat, Tory, Steve, and the kids walked down to East City Park while Cheston worked. The park had great playground equipment and Steve and Owen played football on the grass punting the ball around to each other. The fall foliage was incredible, like nothing we ever see in California and gave us some gorgeous photos. Back at the house, Nathan and Owen played with hot wheels tracks and hockey in the basement whenever there was downtime. Rosie and Steve napped while the Kat and Tory went out for ... read more

Off to Idaho! The land of the potatoes and miles and miles of wheat fields. We had Grammy Sue take us to the airport, which was a big help with getting dropped right off at the airport terminal. She provided breakfast and we had plenty of activities for the flights. A short flight to Oakland and then a plane change was fine for the kids to explore the airport and get a little energy out. Naturally, Rosie enjoyed picking a wrestling match with her big brother Nathan, and they both enjoyed watching some planes from the windows. The 2-hour flight to Spokane was a relief as Rosie wanted to nap and slept on/with Steve for most of the flight. We got to our rental car, loaded our car seats, stopped for a McDonald's lunch in Spokane ... read more

It is coming down to our last full day at the resort and we had nothing planned for the day. The kids actually slept in so we had an easy breakfast and Steve and the kids headed down to the beach for a while. The water was really cold and Rosie was not in the mood for it. She had been very much into her Mama for most of the trip, and didn’t get happy until Tory joined at the beach. Her favorite part of the morning was playing at the beach showers. Nathan would push the button to spray for her and run in circles splashing in the puddles, as Rosie shrieked with delight. Nathan and Steve spent a long time in the pool while Rosie napped, as Nathan has become in love with the ... read more

Tory was up with kids and was gracious to let Steve sleep in until 7. We then headed out for a place called Gazebos in Napili Beach for special macadamias nut pancakes. When we got there, the wait was over an hour, so we left and drove through Kapalua briefly to see the famous golf courses. We ended up at a fun pancakes place called “Slappy Cakes,” where you can make your own pancakes at your table if you want. Nathan also enjoyed playing the toy trucks in the waiting area. Everything tasted great, Steve’s chocolate chip pancakes and Tory and Sue’s banana macadamien nut, too. We headed back for Rosie’s nap and then decided what we wanted to do the rest of the day. Nathan had been playing all week with his tiny trucks inside ... read more

The day started off slowly and we spent a good time laying in bed with the kids and having breakfast in the room. They have somewhat adapted to the time change and are waking up at 5:30 am. which is much more manageable than 4. Tory and Steve and the kids headed down to the greenbelt at the edge of the resort and played some golf so RoRo and Nathan could get some energy out running. Steve and RoRo headed up to the room for naps and Nathan and Tory walked down to the neighboring Westin resort, the Nanea, to explore their pool area. Nathan had a blast running through the splashpad, going down the waterslide and playing in the water gun area. He became increasingly brave and even liked going down the waterslide himself. We finally got some late morning, if 5:30 is considered sleeping in, and got down to the beach at around 7 for the 3rd straight day. Nathan enjoyed digging as usual, and getting to see the outrigger canoes being pushed into the ocean. Rosie shrieked with joy while standing ankle high in th ocean, as the waves came up the shore Steve held her balanced as she was pulled around by the tide. Tory and Sue took Nathan to make a puka shell necklace, blue as per Nathan’s important request. After lunch and some playing back at the room, it was time to drive to Wailuku to see our old neighbors, Brandon and Melissa, at their house for a Hawaiian BBQ dinner After a few days at the resort it was nice to go for a ... read more

The day started early with the excitement of our visitors coming onto the island off of a 14-day cruise, Jerry and Nancy. After an early morning down at the pirate ship pool and the beach with the kids, Tory took some incredible pictures of our handsome boy smiling and being goofy. She drove to the La Haina harbor to pick up Jerry and Nancy, while Steve and Sue took care of the kids at the room and prepared lunch. The guests arrived and Sue gave a tour of the rooms, then we all went down to the Koi pond to feed the fish, which was nothing special. Then we decided to go play in kids playground area and the pirate ship pool, as Nathan and Rosie entertained everyone with their water exploits. There was some short ... read more

What's the perfect start to a vacation? Being woken up at 4 am for the day by your little darlings. It was all for the best as we had breakfast in the room and made it to the beach by 7. We were rewarded for our early morning efforts with a rainbow. Steve took Rosie back to the room for naps and Tory and Sue took Nathan to explore and find the pirate ship kids pool for lots of fun. We had lunch in the room together once Rosie and Steve had rested and then Steve took the kids back to the pirate ship area and played on the neighboring playground. Rosie has NO fear and wanted to do the slides all by herself. Also, we confirmed that she is probably at least part duck. She ... read more

On our way to the island of Maui! We were picked up by our friend David. Nathan liked his limousine and he would like to ride in one all the time. We picked up Sue in Calabasas and then we’re off to LAX. One we were checked in we made a quick stop at the lounge club to grab a quick breakfast. Who knew there are huge underground hallways that connect the airport terminals? We were quite a sight running at full speed (Nathan in his jammies) to get the kids energy out. The flight went pretty well, Rosie had a short nap but the 6 hours to Hawaii isn’t bad when you are anticipating what is there. The only bad part was landing and waiting an hour on the tarmack for a gate, but our ... read more
