Europe July 23rd 2007

July 23rd, 2007 54 nautical miles from Denmark, in the North Atlantic Last night was our last formal, I ate much too much, but was it good food. This morning, the ladies of our group were to walk 5 km having paid 15$ for a t-shirt and pink plastic bracelet, all for the cure(cancer), Vicky is still under the weather, but 3 of us walked for an hour, with the captain, about 12 laps of the lower promenade deck; Terry and I used to do 8 laps in am and 8 laps in pm on sea days during the world cruise 2005. We lost trivia again this morning and Terry is off playing in a poker tournament to win our expenses on board. Love to all and see you real soon. ... read more

July 22st, 2007 Oslo, Norway Well as luck would have it, the last port was almost the best. The ship stops minutes from the main castle and the hop on, hop off bus was one great loop of the town and we saw it all. First stop was at tante Carmen’s suggestion the Vigeland outdoor park and museum with 225 brass sculptures of life from birth to death through naked bodies: absolutely spectacular. Hop back on and we rode to the Viking ship museum, again a good suggestion, just beautiful. We then rode the loop and stepped off to see the votive ships at the Oslo cathedral- which was closed! We walked the pedestrian mall, bought sandwiches and a beer and picnicked beside the Palace. We walked past the city hall and found the Norwegian ... read more

July 21st, 2007 Copenhagen, Denmark Raining buckets as we arrived into a beautiful port area, where condos are expensive and looking out to sea. The captain did a 180 as soon as he entered the sheltered area of the port then parallel parked without help, wow! The rain stopped! The group met as planned, 8:30 outside the ship and we walked to the little mermaid around the marina next door, what a tiny lovely sculpture overlooking the port. After many pictures we hopped on a hop on, hop off bus that brought us to downtown with commentary; we bought a 3 bus ticket and toured the 3 loops: Christina (palaces), Carlsberg(beer) and the harbour. At the end of the day, this loop brought us back to the front door of the ship. The sun came ... read more
