Geo: 37.209, -93.2916We are home. We are both sick. I was getting a cold and sore throat the last day - burning up in the hotel room with the windows cracked while Kamie was freezing. I got worse once we got home but now, I'm just coughing and trying to breathe. Yesterday, Kamie was burning-up and sick. He said his whole body ached, including his balls. I'm glad he felt the need to share. We had a good vacation. I've always wanted to see London so this was a dream come true destination for me - the Queen's residence was jaw-dropping, Harrod's was very much what I imagined it to be (loved it and would have spent all day there if Kamie wasn't with me), the British food was heavy and wonderful for the cold days, and ... read more

Geo: 64.1353, -21.8952Today we woke-up to the weather we had only read and heard about encountering in Iceland - 34 mph winds that feel like you can barely stand still in them, white caps on the ocean, and rain pelting the windows. Oddly, it didn't feel "really cold" today at 41 degrees - that's the temperature tonight at least, it may have been a bit warmer today when the weather seemed to be a bit calmer. At this very moment the wind and rain are pelting the windows of our hotel room and Kamie, being a smoker, has been outside a couple of times tonight and says it is freezing out there. We slept-in until almost 8:30am today and as soon as Kamie commented on the wind and we saw the trees swaying, we realized the ... read more

Geo: 64.1353, -21.8952Just a few more things I want to say about Iceland tonight since we have now walked downtown looking for places to eat (it was about 10 min before midnight) and found nothing but bars with loud music (not our scene) so we have returned to the hotel and Kamie is out front waiting for Domino's delivery. He wanted hamburger but they do not have hamburger for their pizza here (maybe lamburger??). He settled for ham and pineapple. So, around 2am in the morning, Kamie will be eating and hopefully I will be sleeping. So, a few things I wanted to say about Iceland.....One of my favorite movies is "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" which has several cool scenes filmed here in Iceland. There is a scene where he is skateboarding down a ... read more

Geo: 64.2573, -21.1443Well folks.... I realize my blogs have been super boring this trip but frankly, we've been going-going-going and not sleeping much so by the time I write my blog I've given no thought to what I might say and all my wit is out the window. My apologies. Having said that, today was a very interesting day and I hope I can convey that in this entry as I am well-rested and awake (it's around 9pm here - we are six hours ahead of you).Everything that is "the best" in Iceland is GOLD or GOLDEN and in Icelandic language that is "Gull" - even their beer brewed on the island (which is very popular but we've not tried any yet) is called Gull. So, today we took the "Golden Circle" tour outside of Reykjavik ... read more

Geo: 64.1353, -21.8952Tonight's entry will be short as it's almost 1am here and we have a long day tomorrow starting at 8am. We woke-up and saw that Trump won the election and Kamie was in a pissy mood about it all day. I hate politics. I think the American people are greater than any one President and that's all I care about. We got a few pictures walking downtown today. We did a teeny bit of shopping - and when I say teeny I mean teeeeeeny! Iceland's cost of living is 46% higher than the US's. Everything is expensive. We knew coming here that a burger and fries was $30 but it's all the other items that are insanely priced that surprise us....$4 for a bookmark..... $10 for a tiny Christmas ornament.... $70 for a small hat.....and ... read more

Geo: 64.0065, -22.5721Late yesterday afternoon we took about a 2 hour nap...then went out for dinner...and Kamie was sleep around 9:30pm. I packed everything and was putting the final suitcase by the door when I realized it was 11:00pm! We had a wake-up call for 2am as our driver was arriving at 3am for an hour trip to London Gatwick airport! I could not believe I was only going to get <3 hours of sleep. :( I went to bed immediately and ended-up barely sleeping and was out of bed before 2am. Needless to say, I slept most of our 3-hour flight from London to Iceland. We got to our hotel in Iceland and our room was ready! Yay!! We both took a quick nap and then we had a foodie tour of Reykjavik scheduled for ... read more

Geo: 51.5002, -0.126236Let's start with last night.... Kamie went out front of our hotel to smoke a cigarette and when he returned, down our long hallway, there was a completely naked British bloke with his junk out! Kamie said he stopped and said "Whooaa!" and the guy just turned and tried to get into a room, went to the next room and tried that door, went to the next room and tried that door, and then disappeared around the corner of the end of the hallway! Kamie said he the guy looked mad - like he had been purposefully locked-out of a room but I couldn't quit laughing! Kamie was like... "Do you think we should open our door and just hold a towel out for him, in case he returns?" Ha Ha Ha HaNow, how ... read more

Geo: 51.5002, -0.126236Today is a short entry because I think I have only 5 or 6 pictures so I won't write too much!! We slept-in until 10am!!! Whoo Hooo We both literally slept like 10 hours!! (Did you read that Stacy? Ha!) We were still out the door before 11:30am and we took a Hop-on Hop-off bus to.... EVERYWHERE!! To backup... our day got started after a quick breakfast (Starbucks for me, Burger King for Kamie), we got on a Hop-on Hop-off bus. By the way, my U.S. Starbucks card worked here so I paid $0 for my breakfast! We were at our first stop of the day.... the famous department store I vowed not to leave London without visiting ~ HARROD'S ~ and my camera battery died while Kamie was attempting to take a picture. ... read more

Geo: 51.3814, -2.35745Today was such a lovely day! We had a tour scheduled to visit Stonehenge, Bath, and some other “secret places” which ended-up being much more than we had imagined and this day was one of my all-time favorite vacation days ever. There is no way I can write about everything we saw or did but here's a rundown….We took a taxi to our meeting point for the day and as our taxi paused for a stoplight… my breath was taken away at the sight of Westminster Abby! Yay! I had no idea thetop of the Abby is gold. It was regal and everything I always thought it would be. We also saw the British military in their camo clothes and tall, black, furry hats. We met our tour group at the London Eye. As ... read more

Geo: 51.5002, -0.126236We have made it to London and it looks like I thought it would look and the people sound like I thought they would sound and so far I love it! Yay! :-) To backup a bit... that alarm dinging in St Louis at 3:30am was...well....too early! I drove us to the airport and we were actually on time and on the plane, buckled-in and ready for takeoff when the pilot says the left navigation system is not working. An engineer came onboard and a few minutes later our flight was cancelled. I used the Delta App on my iPhone to rebook us before we were even off the plane - that was genius if I do say so myself. By 9:30am, we were on a plane to Minneapolis rerouting us on to Washington ... read more
